@fourPsinapod you are NOT a bad mom! What happened was so scary and I'm glad everyone is safe
All the talk of Christmas decorations made me pull out my gift list for this year and I went a bit crazy on etsy getting a head start on my Xmas shopping. Not even sorry.
Just spent like an hour catching up on what happened today. Whiplash. Heartbreak for bdester, frustration at the fly-bys and rainbow buttercakes. Thanks for holding down the fort, ladies--sorry I missed it!
I keep feeling mad when I see the sex disappointment thread from a stranger right next to the loss thread. Throw my phone out the window mad. I'm torn between saying something again and hoping it will just go away.

I agree. When I first saw bdesters thread, I thought it was a dream and/or making fun of the sex disappointment thread. It breaks my heart every time I open this app to see them side by side knowing the reality of one and (comparing) triviality of the other.

I 100% agreed with this. I was in tears upset about bdester and then I see that bull shit? I don't understand gender disappointment -- I guess because I think 90% of it stems from sexism (it is almost always people wanting boys in my experience.) I'll be happy with whatever baby I can get-- healthy or no, boy or girl, 10 or no toes. fuck, it can have a tail and snout. if it comes out of my lady garden I'll love the shit out of it.
Had a huge solo move last week. (DD and I moved to Germany. SO will follow later next year. Fun!) Missed you ladies! Now that I am back at a desk without a toddler and boxes distracting me, I'll try hard to be a better Feb17er...
@Lafreeman21 It absolutely is. While full-on maternity pants are comfy anyway after wearing pants completely undone for a bit maternity pants will feel like heaven.
@grapeskittles4lyfe Yay! I can't imagine a solo move like that, especially while pregnant, and it makes feel bad for feeling like a sourpuss because DH left yesterday with a buddy to go out of town until Tuesday leaving me here alone with both kids for the long weekend. You deserve a prize!

Wow thats a big move, especially on your own with a toddler! I hope you settle in well! My sister lives in germany & her maternity care was amazing, along with her maternity leave package!
You would think, even if you are disappointed about your baby's sex, that after seeing her post would bring you back to reality REAL quick. Ridiculous.

@Janefelicity I know! 6 weeks pre-birth at full pay, 4 weeks post-birth at full pay, and then the first year mat leave paid, with another two years unpaid but they hold your job. Also a midwife who will come by as much as you need to visit you at home for 8 weeks post birth, up to a year if your Dr. writes you a note.
Mwahahaha...
@silvercamaro77 we sold all our furniture so the only thing coming my way by ship are clothes and small household items. Also, my parents live in Germany so they organized the apartment lease beforehand.
@Starfish113 , @PerraSucia no. I work as a Lab Manager for a research institute. I used to work there before I had DD, then we went to Boston so SO could do his fellowship at Harvard Med. I'd originally planned on staying in Boston, but apparently the sh!t has hit the fan with a couple of projects and they neeeeed me. So they made me an offer I honestly couldn't refuse. Let's just say very attractive benefits, because as a public research institute they can't compete with industry salaries). SO is finishing up his research, with extensive grant-writing time off around, say, February-March and then following us over for good as soon as he gets a job in Yurrup.
Wow I missed a lot yesterday. But I fell asleep while H watched football so I guess I needed it. I really don't understand how someone can "hang around" and post (if only on certain things) and still not understand how this works. But it's a dreary Friday and my brain is only half working because of crap from yesterday and this morning.
@grapeskittles4lyfe yup! My sister & her husband are both teachers & have civil servant status so he was able to take 4 months of paternity leave when my sister when back to work, they get massively subsidised childcare & any prenatal visit she had a 3d scan! The only downside is that we only see my nephew in person a few times a year but we see him every week on skype so we dont miss too much!

This makes me so mad!! I love America but this whole maternity leave thing really pisses me off to no end. I just hate it. Like WTF? America makes it seem like pushing a human out of your vagina and then taking care of it is no big deal. I mean, you guys get leave BEFORE the baby is born, toooooo?
So I grew out of my bras within a few weeks of getting pregnant and had to buy new ones. Has anyone else in the same situation tried on one of their old bras just to see how it fits? I did and it was hilarious!

Haven't we figured out that the people DON'T READ the other posts on the board? That's the complaint over and over - read/lurk before you post - because so many don't. This is an extreme example of WHY that's important.

I tried on an old dress because I needed to take professional photos. I was a SAUSAGE. Maybe I'll try a bra tonight for fits and shiggles!
PS been helping the fight with getting crap off the front page.
Re: Weekly Randoms (8/29)
In more random news, it is barely raining at the moment, and I can't respect this hurricane because no one can seem to pronounce the name.

Sorry I was staring at my floors.
