Also with Facebook, you can be in the secret group and not be friends on fb, so no one sees your profile or anything unless you share it. In my last group we just had mods verify that when they requested that they were a screen name on here. Some shared more than others, but eventually everyone became very close, and there was even a sunshine committee to send small gifts to the new moms again, new house, etc. Every group I have been a part of is SO different. This group is vastly different than my first bmb. You never will know how it will play out. I'm very glad though that this board is very kind and not snarky. I'm not a very snarky person and the bmb can get vicious!! They were so bad before the mass exodus!!
@Wholesome I was a Jan14 bmb too! Although I was mainly a lurker then but I loved how close it looked like everyone got. I am trying to be much more active on this board.

They got close then everyone got divisive in the FB group. They tried and failed to have debates about things like political stances, regilious beliefs, circumcision, vaccines, etc - lots of soapbox grandstanding. Then most of the other conversations were about sex, porn and other sexual related topics. It started to become a bully group with a mask of being friendly and open to dialogue but also just gross.
In high school i was in an internet scam ( someone pending to be someone). Luckily i wasn't the victim but it scared me enough to learn. It was actually a big deal...had to testify in court. Anyway this is the reason I'm reluctant to share much about me or any photos (no my name is not Karli but it does have a meaning). So...I'll say it once but please please be careful. You have noooo clue who is on the other end of this. Especially when babies or children are involved you need to be careful of what you share. Even my facebook has very very few photos and i don't think i plan on sharing any of my baby on facebook. Just please be careful in how much you share.

I know people in real life that post batshit crazy things on FB. It is what it is.
I like the idea of a few mods who are willing to check when people request to join. That's more than sufficient.
