So, update on the thing about my mom being upset about me picking a different name for one of my twins...it turns out she was upset about something completely unrelated and I just have bad timing.
So, yay she's not upset about the name! But on the down side, she's upset about something and won't talk about it (which I respect but I always hate to see her sad).
Weirdly enough, she went to work last night (she's a nurse) and had a medication envelope for a guy named Roland Avery, written in last name, first name format, so Avery, Roland. Which is eerily close to Avery Rowan, our new name choice. She brought the envelope home to show me and I'm sitting here half-seriously thinking its a sign.
And I've got a real random for today...
Has anyone else gotten taller during pregnancy?
I know it sounds crazy and I'm too old to still be growing, but I've had several people comment that I'm taller than I used to be and I've noticed that I can reach higher things and that there's a bigger height difference between me and my mom and MIL than before.
I was exactly 5' 6" before and haven't measured myself, but I feel like I'm an inch or two taller now.
All I can think is that my spine is straighter because of the babies (this has been going on since maybe 20 weeks or so, though). I do normally have a bit of a forward bend to my lower back, so maybe my posture is being forced to be better?
Speaking of work showers - I think my coworkers had something small planned for this Thursday. Everyone is so swamped with a project due this Fri so the "team outing" (code word?) was rescheduled for next Thursday. I just found out this huge project I'm working on has an all day meeting next Thursday (10am-5:30pm) that I'm required to attend. So I think I'm going to miss my own surprise shower! Haha. Maybe they'll delay it further...? But at that point, I'll already be 38 weeks so any later is getting risky. I'm a little bummed but what can you do?
I had appointments all day so I'm totally behind on this thread. Might be able to catch up tomorrow. Can't remember if I congrats @reesaxden yet, but CONGRATS! She's beautiful!
My totally random story of the day: I have this thing called vulvodynia. I always knew tampons, sex, pap smears, etc, were painful and unpleasant, but never knew there was actually anything wrong, since this is the only vag I've ever had. I started going to a physio who specializes in pregnancy a month ago about my hip pain, and she asked if intercourse is painful. I said YES and she had me explain what it feels like. She said I probably have vulvodynia. She is trained in "internal pelvic floor issues" so she basically goes inside with light pressure, while providing the same pressure with the other hand to my leg, to train my brain that its not a lot of pressure and to "re-map" that area in my brain so it doesn't hurt anymore. Today when I went, she was able to get 2 FINGERS ALL THE WAY IN!!! I know this sounds so weird and crazy but it was so exciting (my husband is so weirded out by all this lol). Normally that would burn or sting and I'd want to cry. Anyways, while there, she had me do "practice pushes" to teach me how to effectively push. She had both fingers in me still, had me lay back flat and "push like I was having a BM" and nothing really happened. Then she had me arch my back and tilt my pelvis and push, and her fingers shot right out! She said I had made her fingers shoot out, even though I thought she just pulled them out. Anyways, this story sounds super weird but I am so confident now in my ability to push out a baby!! I am just going to visualize her fingers shooting out of me haha
Just got off the phone with the interviewer. She said she really liked me but the company just took on a HUGE project and they are looking to hire someone yesterday. She had a baby 9 months ago and understands that I can't relocate and start a new job with less than 5 weeks to go. She said there's an apprenticeship program with the company and she thinks I would be a great candidate for it so they will revisit my resume in the fall. I'm a little bummed out but I know this is what's best for me and baby right now.

Agreed with what was said previously regarding the 9-11 bday. It'll be more of an impact on us than our LOs born on that date. My students (who are mainly 14) have really no direct feelings to 9-11. They know what it's about and respect the date, so it is similar to 12-7 for us.
The 10th is also a hard date for me since one of my close friends died in a motorcycle accident on this day. Have to keep in mind, this is DDs special day regardless!
@MrsVoorhees Wegmans is a grocery store, but it's so much more lol. It's a way of life. It's really reasonable prices on high quality food and has many specialty items in store. They have amazing prepared food and even restaurants in their stores.
@UnwritteN12... today you are an ordinary American family of 4, tomorrow you become an extraordinary family of 6 with 2 pairs of boy/girl twins. Life will never be the same and has never been better. I hope you can get some sleep tonight and have an easy procedure and recovery tomorrow!!
@reesaXden CONGRATULATIONS!!! She is beautiful!!! I am so happy everything worked out and she is healthy!
My random: DH and I met with our doula for the first time tonight! She is actually our hypnobirthing instructor but we haven't seen her in a few months and today was all about our birth plan and talking about how things will go down when D-Day arrives. I am so excited!!!
Also, we have been churning things out on our 'to do' list as well these past few days. It makes me feel so much better considering I am so sleep deprived and am checking out mentally at work. Lol. We are taking a baby care basics class on Monday (I know, I am a nerd and really love getting as much info. as possible). I also found a local La Leche League meeting (with the help of my mom) that I plan on visiting on 9/1 so I can start to make connections so it won't be weird for me if I want to use them as a resource after baby arrives.
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@fireflygirl12 I love Elise, but Quinn took some definite steps up with the potential for RubyQ as a nickname!
@AmMcc12 I don't understand why people ask if we want a shower. Of course we want to celebrate our baby. Of course we want others to buy what we will otherwise buy ourselves. Of course we want cake. It's so awkward being asked because you can't say all of those things.
My random: DH has been making dinner for the past 6 months because I have no energy and he actually enjoys cooking. Tonight DH was out of town with DD so it was up to me to feed my son. I fixed him a dinner that contained meat, grain and fruit (sorry veggies) and as I served it to him, I was super proud of myself for mustering up all the energy that it took to produce this culinary marvel. What did I serve? Hot dogs on a bun with a side of blueberries. That's right. I was proud that I managed to fix hot dogs. I can't WAIT until my pre-pregnancy energy returns!
Just wanted to say good luck tomorrow!!!! @UnwritteN12 Can't wait to check in tomorrow and see your announcement! I think you are super mom with 2 sets of twins
I'd like to give a shout out to my gap body t shirts. That are now the only thing that fully covers my belly. Thanks for hanging in there with me when everyone else bailed.
Just had a huge meltdown. DH is working hard and so his fuse has been short, and I'm stressing about everything not getting done, and it combined to something ugly. I'm not even that worried about physically being ready, but I feel like preparing our home physically for baby helps us prepare mentally, and I just feel like we aren't mentally prepared at all. At all. Anybody else?
@drmh22 sorry you're having a meltdown I'm there with you. I feel not mentally prepared at all. I keep thinking we have so much time, when in actuality, we don't lol. I haven't quite come to terms with throwing a newb into our family dynamic just yet.
@UnwritteN12 good luck tomorrow! Can't wait to see your babies!
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
@RG1, that sounds awful.... like, awful, I can't imagine trying to get preggers if it hurt that bad. I know they do trigger release for that though, maybe that's what she's doing.
I LOVE that baby picture @reesaXden!!!! She is so so cute!!!!
I can't wait for the twins to come tomorrow either!!!
I'm going to go to bed now...I'm trying g out this Snoogle thing. Will report back tomorrow
