Re: Randoms 7.25

  • Does anyone know what Babies R Us return policy is?

I received 2 gifts that are redundant, but only one has a gift receipt. The other I was told from BRU, but she didn't give me a gift receipt. Neither gift was on my registry. I know they'd take back the one with the receipt, but do they take non-receipt, non-registered gifts back?

    Thanks!

  • @dmontgo: looking at their return policy on their website, I'd guess that they won't take back the gift for which you don't have a receipt, but since you are going anyway to return the one with the receipt you can always ask. Worst they'll say is no.

  • TO RETURN AN ITEM WITHOUT THE RECEIPT:
Some items may be returned without a receipt, but please keep the following in mind:
    1. In most cases we can verify purchases made within the last 90 days via credit card or if the purchase was made from a baby registry and will issue a credit to the credit card used to make the purchase or in the form of a store credit for gift purchases from a baby registry.

looks like they will take it back if they can verify the item was purchased with them.

This is probably bad of me but does Target also sell it? I returned things there with no receipt and they gave me store credit

  • @slartybartfast Target does also sell it--it's a Slumber Buddy music thingy and projects stars onto the ceiling. We already have a musical owl that projects images on the ceiling, so I was thinking I could return it and get a box of diapers or something. I'll try Target if BRU won't take it. We're taking back one of the 3 playmats we received at the baby shower tomorrow--maybe we can find a cute take home outfit for Ashton.
  • So since I travel a lot for work I end up eating alone at restaurants frequently.  Usually I'm a sit at the bar person - but I don't like to take up a seat while pregnant.

I've been seated at a table for 25 minutes with no acknowledgment!  I'm about to flip out.  I'm so hungry and they stuck me in a back corner, of a half empty restaurant. I could eat the best meal of my life and still write a terrible review.

@karmba I have absolutely no patience when you mess with my food while pregnant. Some of my biggest pregnant cryfests have been at restaurants when they bring everyone else's food out and make me wait longer. THAT IS NOT OKAY.

So I've got a cough and my voice has been squeaking on and off the past couple of days, but I have to do a presentation at a hospital this afternoon. So that should be interesting. It's also an hour and a half away, so I've got a long commute ahead of me. AND this is the hospital I stayed at for three days when I fell and had a partial placental abruption with DD. I have so many thoughts in my head today.

ETA: I just went to the bathroom at work and discovered that I forgot to put on makeup this morning. Wouldn't be an issue except the pregnancy acne is strong with me. I've got like 5 current zits and a lot of overall redness. Fortunately I have makeup in my bag. But I am definitely off today.

  • Aaaggghhh! Guys, I found a snake in my bathroom this morning! Holy cow! I'm currently freaking out, and constantly looking all around me. It was a young snake, but still. Snakes are one of my biggest fears. My concern is if baby is in the house, what if mama or daddy is somewhere inside as well. Holy hell! I just want to burn my house down right now! Dramatic? Maybe a bit, but I go in to panic attacks anytime I see a snake.
  • What did you do with the snake? How big?

    Got a picture? I love snakes.<3

On a similar note I saw a brown recluse in my bathroom a couple days ago and had a similar reaction.  Normally I don't mind sharing my space with spiders, I have about twenty tarantulas after all. ;) But I don't want a brown recluse around when the babies here...

My random... my husband was able to feel the baby kick for the first time last night. <3

Thankfully my brother, who had just showed up to drop off my nephew, got it with the broom handle and took it outside.
  • *******Warning******** SNAKE PICTURE POSTED!

@Blockfour - my brother, who is 6'4, took this pic for me. It will kind of give you an idea of the size. As far as the spiders go, I couldn't deal with those either. Basically, I hate any creepy crawlers.
  • The good news for you is the parents are probably nowhere near to be found.  They don't stick around to watch the eggs.  The bad news... If that was a freshly hatched baby there are probably more near by since they haven't had a chance to spread yet.

Why don't I ever find snakes random in my house?  That would be great!  The most exciting thing I've found is a garter in the back yard.
  • We had a black racer in our yard around the beginning of summer. We saw it everyday for a week, then never saw it anymore. If I'm correct in my research, this one from the pic is a non poisonous ring-neck snake.
  • Just saw the pick.  It's so cute!  It's nonvenomous.  No worries. ;)
  • Omg. Nope nope nope. Every time I see snakes or even think about them for an extended period of time, I feel them slithering up me in bed at night. Your putting off burning the house down is seriously impressive.
  • @scatherinem I'm still contemplating it, haha.
  • @Mamax2 I am so sorry to admit, but I just laughed pretty hard when I saw the picture. From your post I thought "ohh no, it's probably a little fat snake" but you weren't kidding when you said baby snake. For your sake I hope there aren't any more little eggs around. My BIL & his wife cannot stand snakes and unfortunately have tons of them out on the farm. They will literally call in DH or anyone else around to come kill and remove any snake they've caught no matter the time or day. They did set down some sticky traps which have helped a lot - might be something to look into!
I can empathize with you because I while I don't mind snakes, I haaate spiders. Even little spiders give me the heebies. I will kill them no problem when I am alone but I definitely make DH do it if he's around.

  • @temmetime yeah snakes of any size freak me out.
  • Aw, cute little snake! I love snakes. I want to get a ball python, but then my MIL would never visit (although she has told me if she doesn't know WHERE the snake is she will be fine). We get anoles here (little lizards, either brown or green). Those buggers are hard to catch and they can detach their tails if a predator (or person trying to get them out of their house) grabs them by it.

  • Oy I would die if I saw a snake in the house! We occasionally get a lizard if we leave the doors open too long, but they don't bother me. We also get scorpions, which I do freak over. I'm putting the crib legs in glass jars just to be safe (overkill, I know). They just seem so prehistoric to me.
  • @sourlemon I saw this in the airport today and thought of your Star Wars nursery.

  • I was playing my with little dog, and he decided to launch from one end of the couch to where I am sitting...which would have been fine if his little rat claws didn't scratch my nipple through my shirt! Now I have a scratched up and bleeding nipple. It really hurts! I am now traumatized for life...
