Re: Beta Testing August 2016

  • @babylonghorn16 - FX that it'll be soon! I keep refreshing this page to see if you've updated!

  • So I believe I'm going mad these past few days! TWW is the worst... One minute I'm convinced it has worked and then the next minute, not so much. I am having crazy vivid dreams, been crampy, sTaRvInG, and very tired. We are so hopeful! I love seeing all the BFP's. Hope I am one of them on Monday! Good luck Ladies'
  • oh my gosh @babylonghorn16 your suspense is killing me.  I HATE when my OB doesn't call with my numbers ASAP; particularly follow-up betas.  You are a saint for not having walked right in there like a woman en fuego.  FX they call soon with a strong second beta to report.
  • @Elyse1384 lol! I'm dying over here. Not a very productive day at work. I emailed my nurse 20 minutes ago, and still no response. I'm calling them in 30 minutes... they close @ 4pm CST. Unbelievable that they haven't called yet. Don't they understand how cruel this it?!

@K_Van1521 that's exactly how I feel/felt + sore boobs. I was also on the "it worked!/it didn't work!" rollercoaster as well - it's maddening. You're almost there though!! Keep being strong! I hope you hear good news on Monday!!!

  • @JAH87, that would be a great present! Sorry you have to wait! Today I found my self irrationally raging. Everything set me off! Ugh! Is it Monday yet?
  • @AandDM2014 I'll be getting it done at a doctor's office this Saturday because I have a law school test in the morning and can't make it to my clinic while they're open.  My nurse let me know that because of that situation, I won't get to hear my second beta until Monday, so I'll just ride this good news all weekend!

Thank you for all the well wishes everyone!!

  • @K_Van1521 that was me this past Monday and last night. DH had to work mandatory overtime this week so our only off day together was Monday and we didn't spend it together, makes me a little sad but he deserved to not have to deal with me and I just needed away. He didn't do anything and I wasn't mad at him. My sister set me off and I couldn't get myself to calm down, shouldn't have let her ruin my day but days like that make me love my DH more bc he is so understanding and patient with me. He did house work so I could do what I needed to distract myself and visit friends.

    Why I was so mad....
My sister is younger than I with a 5yr old, currently preggo again due in October. Which she decided to announce right before my bachelorette party. Her and her husband live in his mothers 2 bedroom house. The 3 of them currently share 1 bedroom and have no where for this baby to go. He only works seasonally as a landscaper and she works for Meijer and was a manager but decided she doesn't really want to work either so she is going back to part time making $8.50/hr. And calls off all the time. They were going to send my niece to kindergarten this year, not because she's 5 but because they can't afford the price of preschool. Well his mother who is a control freak said she'd pay for her to go to preschool so they're going to send her there instead. They depend on everyone to watch their child(ren) for free and financially depend on others. It makes me so mad that she can get pregnant so easily but can't afford to take care of them. It also sucks because I love my niece and we were close, I used to keep her every week Sunday evenings-Tuesday evenings, they started to abuse it and wanted me to keep her other days of the week too but I had to put my foot down and say I couldn't do it anymore so that I could focus on myself and now if I'm not doing them favors then I don't get to see her. It's a tough situation but I had to step back. my mom wants me to help throw this shower for my sister but I'm completely uninterested.

    *sorry for the rant*

  • @LittleSunshine That wait! Ugh! I can't imagine having to wait that long to get results. Lame!

@JAH87 Oh boy. I am so sorry to hear about the situation with your sister. I know that can be, and it isn't easy or fun (my bro and his first wife used to play rock paper scissors to determine whose turn it was to change a diaper, so me and grandparents often ended up doing everything for them). I hope you and DH can find some quality time together soon.

AFM - I am technically out of the 2ww, but that doesn't mean I've stopped waiting for the next blood test, finding out if I might have a viable pregnancy, then waiting for the first sono. Wouldn't it be amazing if there was some way that your doctor could tell you right away if you were going to have a viable pregnancy or not? I think so, and wouldn't definitely pay for it!

@APM_SLP welcome!! Beta is SO close, but yes, the wait is just awful. Hope you can find something to distract yourself this weekend! FX for Monday!!

@JAH87 I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. It's so frustrating when people who have children easily don't appreciate them. Makes me sad. Hopefully you can overcome this rift with your sister and get some time with your niece again!

@JAH87 I get it! Life's not fair. I'm always momentarily angry, followed by tears when I hear someone is pregnant. Even worse when I know they don't have the money or time to raise them! I have an identical twin who had zero issue getting pregnant twice, on accident. She likes to tell me just what I need to do in order to have children. She doesn't get. And we battle about it all the time! Keep your head up! You're not alone here. And I too had to apologize to my DH last night! He was like, "for what??"
  • @JAH87 I told that DH was the right answer!

  • @JAH87 your frustration is completely understandable. I feel the same way when I see couples have kids and don't even want to spend time with them.

@AandDM2014 - I know what you mean - I keep waiting for the next appointment because I feel like it's one step closer to having a viable pregnancy and a healthy baby, I just keep whispering to my belly to get through the first 12 weeks sweetie! I usually am saying this when I get the PIO shot as a reminder what it is all for. Hopefully after making it through the first trimester all the nerves will calm down a bit.

  • Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. My sister and I have never had a great relationship but I keep trying. I also have an older brother who has 3 boys and they struggle but they at least have their own place. Neither of my siblings should have children, I love kids and really want my own (obviously why I'm here) but I'm not a free child care center with a revolving door.

My family tries to understand my situation and I'm really open about it, willing to answer all the questions but I get so mad when they say stuff sometimes. I've been really into baby wearing and I wanna breast feed. I was talking about buying a Tula and my mom says "you shouldn't do that you'll jinx yourself". I was so mad I couldn't even respond. I'd rather be open though so when I am angry they know why but it doesn't make the struggle any easier. Sometimes I think it may make it harder but I'm not good at hiding my emotions, so better that I'm open.
  • @Happydays13 Great second beta!

I am curious how many of you took HPT before your betas. I am currently 5dpt.  I took a test this morning and it was completely negative. I am starting to lose hope. I saw another poll somewhere that showed most people got at least a faint line at 5dpt. Any thoughts?

  • @Christianner I stay away from HPTs during the TWW. They just make me stress. And from what I've read, results aren't reliable (might get false negative) until 9dpt, AND even then it might not register. That's why I don't bother with HPTs. Your beta will tell you quantitatively that you either are or aren't pregnant. Why torture yourself with uncertainty? I wouldn't count yourself out! 5dpt seems really really early. Hope you get a great beta! FX!

  • I had a weird moment this morning. After PIO and synthroid (thyroid med), I started to have some pretty severe cramping along with some bowel issues. Lasted for about 10 to 15 minutes, and then went away. Was freakin out there for a min. Felt like the kind of cramps I get with AF. Anyone else experience something similar?? Maybe it's a side effect of the synthroid? No clue, but I'm glad it's over now. Pretty worrisome.

  • @AandDM2014 - I feel the same way. They scheduled my Beta's a week apart so I'm trying not to over think it between now and then and am on pins and needles about what's coming.

@babylonghorn16 I've been cramping for a while, and I was sure it was AF before I got the BFP. I don't know about the meds you are taking, but it seems like there are a couple of things...the meds, and apparently your uterus is expanding with the little guy in there which can cause cramping too.

@Christianner I took a HPT the day of my Beta. It was hard to wait, but I was going to be at work when they called with the results and I wanted to be prepared if it was BFN. I would recommend not doing a HPT until at least day of your Beta.

  • @Happydays13 Congrats on getting an ultrasound date! Hopefully your estrogen levels will be looking good!

@Christianner I totally agree with babylonghorn16. I am very anti HPT during IVF, because why add more stress to an already stressful situation. I much prefer to get a number, not a maybe positive, maybe negative line.

@babylonghorn16 I sometimes get some very unpleasant cramping, but I don't know what it's from. I usually attribute it to being a bit too active at a time when my body doesn't want me to be, so I try to sit/lay down for about 5 minutes to see if it helps, and it always does. Hopefully it's just a reaction to the new med. And during both my early pregnancies I've had some constipation (not sure if yours is stuck in, or too much out) which is normal.

@MarlyHC I would definitely go crazy if my betas were scheduled for a week apart, but my clinic never waits that long until after you've done an initial 48 hours apart one.

I find it weird how differently our doctors choose to medicate us. Some of us, at less than 6 weeks pregnant, are taking 4mg of estrogen, some are at 8mg, some of us have low doses of progesterone, some of us have high ones. It's very curious at what levels different doctors like to see hormones.

AFM - I go in tomorrow morning for another blood test, and if all goes well I should be getting a first ultrasound date on August 19th, at 5w6d.

@JAH87, I too am a very open person. I have always just put it all out there. My family has strong opinions, but have always been very supportive of us. We are the first couple in our family to deal with this infertility stuff. When  we had our first miscarriage, I was hopeful. Everyone told us it would happen next time. I agreed, 8 years later and more loss than I thought we could handle we are here. It took DH and I almost a year to come to the decision to do IVF. We have decided we will tell close family if it's positive, but as for everyone else, I will seriously have to be like 30 weeks. And we do know the sex, but I don't think I can have anything baby in the house for a long time. This is such a scary, unpredictable journey! I wish you luck! Try to take advice from family with a large grain of salt! I do...
  • Thanks everyone! I've felt fine all day! Guess it was just a reaction to meds or something. Hopefully it doesn't happen again!

Question: what did your doctor tell you abt sex after transfer? Ours said abstain for 48 hours before and after, but no direction after 48 hours is up. We have not held back, but just wondering if yall had any info that says otherwise?
