Going to meet a potential pediatrician today for Avery...this was on our to-do list by 37th wk lol. Quickly googling what to ask during these consultations. Hope we find someone we like!
So annoyed. Have an appt today, and I get here early like they ask. Spent almost an hour there for my 10 minute appt. But on the bright side, I'm dilated to 3!!!
Had my 34 week check up this morning and decided to make all my last appointments while I was there. It was kinda another one of those "holy shit I am having a baby" moments. Some days I feel like I will be permanently pregnant. Today made me see there is an end point!

@Stephanie7693 I am getting really sick of that, too. I've been having monthly growth scans, and they always schedule the utlrasound as one 30 minute appointment and my follow-up with the doctor as another. And they want me to arrive early. So I'll get there at 10:45, at 11:00 go into my ultrasound which takes all of 5 minutes, then wait till 11:30 for my follow-up appointment which is usually late, and get out of there at almost noon. After receiving maybe 15 minutes of face time with anyone.
@Snaps816 totally sucks. Usually my clinic is really good about time, but the last couple appts now I've waited way too long. I was even more annoyed with it today because I brought my 10 year old but left her in the waiting room since I now get a cervical check at every appt. She was fine, but it was a long half hour alone for her. But after my appt today, I'll be surprised if I have to go to more than next week's appt
NBR...Took my almost 7 month old puppy to get neutered today, he's been gone since 8:00am and I miss him so much I can't wait to go pick him up. I'm also feeling guilty because he had no idea what was coming today and I don't want to see him in pain, I just miss him. Ugh 5:00 come faster!!
bored at work.. people are in & out, and this is prime vacation season. Going to the doc tomorrow at 35 weeks! trying for hubby and I do something "for us" cause everyone tells me once the baby comes.. it will be harder at first.
Just got an email from my doctor that I am GBS positive. I have been very lucky this whole pregnancy and had "normal" symptoms and while I know this is also something that happens--I wasn't really ready for it? I guess I was assuming I didn't have it and I could labor at home for a bit, go in when I was ready and walk the halls. Its not like a am devastated, but maybe like damn..didn't expect that? Also it could be a lot worse!
@BrunetteBabe722 If it's any consolation, my dog got neutered last Wednesday. He was still pretty out of it when I picked him up, but by the next day he was totally normal. They gave me pain meds for him but I never had to use them. Hopefully your pup feels the same! My issue has been keeping him calm so that the incision will heal.
@brunettebabe722 Is that a kind Charles cav spaniel? Hope he feels better quickly. It's really amazing how quickly they bounce back.
@Alikay20 My doctor is a pediatrician as well as a generalist. I don't love their practice, but it's 5 minutes from my house and I've met him - I figure we'll start seriously shopping if we have issues with the practice. Now you've got me wondering if we should do it in the next couple of weeks...The medical care is great, its all admin stuff I don't like. You call for an appointment, they forget you on hold, that type of thing. I haven't been there that often, so I am hoping the issues we had were isolated - it was flu season, so maybe they were slammed.
DH and I have the same birthday (he's 1 yr younger) and it's this Friday. Ever since we found out our due date we've been thinking how crazy it would be if baby came on the 15th and we all had the same birthday! I'd rather that not happen, but if she was gonna come around that time, I'd rather it be the same day than like the day before or after. But I'll only be 37+4 so hopefully she'll just stay in until around her due date do we can space out the celebrations! Also, if anyone has any ideas for something fun to do when you're this pregnant, I'm all ears. Because it's both if our's birthday, (oh god, what the hell is the grammatically correct way to say that!? Making me cringe!) we frequently end up doing nothing lol. It's kind if fun to share it, but if we had different days then one could spoil the other on that day.

I did the exact same thing at my appointment yesterday and had the same feeling! I know it is July and we only have a little longer, but setting up those once a week appointments makes that way more real!
@kristynmac I was GBS positive with my last dd. I still got to walk the halls, just had to cart an IV pole along with me. Having to have the antibiotics didn't really change much in what you can and cannot do. I wasn't stuck in bed until I decided to have my epidural.
@BrunetteBabe722 what a cute puppy! I told DH for our next dog that I'd love a King Charles!

Had my preadmissions appointment at the hospital today. I seriously started to well up when they showed me the labor and delivery room! I started thinking about meeting my baby for thr first time and couldnt take it!! So excited! Then when I got home, my dog came up to me and bumped her nose against my bump. It was almost like she was kissing the baby hello.
@kristynmac I was GBS + with DS, and like @jamiesc58 said, it didn't prevent me from doing much during labor. I got an epidural pretty early on, but I labored at home prior to going in, and then it was just an IV pole until the epidural. I was shocked at first too, but it ended up not being a big deal at all!
@Car0liiine my bday is June 30th and my dh is July 1, so we sorta share birthdays too. This year we had a bbq and a few people over. I had a half a glass of wine to celebrate turning 30. But sadly there's just not much for me to do! Last year we had a big party since it was our first year in a real house with a yard, but I wasn't up to that much work being pregnant and not being able to drink. So maybe just go out on a last date, or have some close family and friends over? Maybe a weekend away, but not too far
@kristynmac - I had an iv port so I was able to disconnect and walk around without an iv pole when I wasn't getting the medicine. I was freaked out when I got the positive but it ended up not being a big deal.
@car0liiine do you have one of those fancy movie theaters near you, that has the big comfy chairs and serves dinner? Or how about a water park to float in the lazy river all day? If all else fails - yogurtland!
@BrunetteBabe722... he will probably be tired tonight but ok. Lots of cuddles should make him feel better! When I had my puppy fixed, he managed to still be able to lick his stitches with the cone on his head, so I put a 12 month baby rompers on him for a few days! FYI in case your pup does the same. My dog is a shi tzu bishon mix, and was probably close to the size of your puppy at that age. Don't let him get to those stitches!
@midwestbaby I scheduled mine out today and couldn't believe it. I only have 3 appointments left until my scheduled c-section. It kind of got a little sappy looking at my calendar knowing this journey is almost over... And then the BH started up again so I was like um how many days do I have left???
My GBS is positive as well. I am not too worried as I planned for epidural, but I was also surprised.
We schedules our induction - 7/25 I have 11 days left! (If you don't count today or the day of) SO EXCITED! And quite shocked he hasn't come yet all complications we had considered.
Thanks everyone, he seems to be doing ok. He's acting pretty lethargic and his stomach seems to be upset but hopefully he'll be back to his regular self tomorrow...and yes he's a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel!!
@alyssajrob22 it says hope in my grandmas handwriting
@Allisun85 Go with your gut! Since your GP can also be your baby's pediatrician, you may have a bit more time to do some research.
Just before I went into labor, I started to ask around parents in our neighborhood and did some research on office reviews - a lot of good docs had mediocre reviews due to customer service on staff and office management aspects.
Some things that were important to us were access, people skills, and professionalism (applied to not just providers but to office staff). To me, I don't care how great a doc is; if it takes an hour to be seen bc he is always running late, I will not tolerate that - esp when I'm dealing with a sick child. Does it take forever to get through to someone at the front desk? Are they rude?
Our "meet & greet" went really well. Dr saw my hospital bands and right away empathized how I must feel as baby is in the NICU. I tried to hold it in so I smiled but she was like, "mom...it's okay to let go and cry it out. You don't have to hide it. Seriously, I hope you feel that this is a safe environment as I care about your well being as well." Then turned to DH and said, "dad, you're important too but focus is going to be a bit more on mom right now ."
She walked through what it will look like once Avery is discharged. Even discussed where Avery may be in terms of her progress at NICU based on what we told her. She reassured me that there will be no indication that her stay in NICU will impact her in any way later in life. She had this warm yet blunt side to her that we appreciated. Even though we determined today she would be our pediatrician, she advised us to meet with another ped in their practice (affiliated with a large health system so these docs rotate and cover for each other a lot) in case she may not be available.
In sum, it all depends on what's important to you when it comes to the care provider of your baby. For some, people skills may not always matter so long as docs know what they're doing. Also note care provider's team can just as much influence your decision. Hope this gives some perspective!
@AliKay20 Thanks for talking about your pediatrician interview experience. We have our first one on Friday (we really procrastinated on this task... whoops...) and I hope it goes as well as yours did! She sounds wonderful. I'm not sure what to expect so I appreciate you sharing your experience! Still thinking of you and Avery and I hope you're both doing okay!
My sister lives in PA and one of her neighbors, who I've met once or twice, sent us a few outfits for LO. It was so sweet! People amaze me, we have this couple send us a baby present and yet we have family members who've never even spent time or a dime on DD or this LO. It was such a nice surprise though!
@Lynnlove28 I've had a few people who my mom knows but I've never met send gift cards and gifts. It's so sweet! Then I have my MIL at my shower telling me that she's "waiting on gifts from some of her family members and will get them to me soon." Right. Still waiting. I honestly don't need anything from them, but knowing people I've never met have sent gifts has been really amazing and super kind!
@Mrsrundell Had to look up to see what yogurtland is, the nearest one is 120 miles away lol. Also pretty confident we don't have any movie theaters like that in this state, but now I super wish we did!! I'm thinking water park/pool might be a winner though
@car0liiine aww dang! I tried lol I have been dying to go float down a lazy river for weeks but, I don't have anyone to come with so I hope you get to have some fun with hubby before baby comes!
