That sounds like a creepy bad guys name from Criminal Minds or something.
  • @LWC1112 I could see how it would be awesome for Christmas shopping. Is it a one time fee? Or do you pay it monthly?

@alyssajrob22 Hope you get some rest today and baby stays nice and cozy!

@lwc1112 Daniel Tiger's voice drives me up a wall. I'm hoping the trend passes before the babies are at marathon cartoon watching stage...
I don't mind Daniels voice but I hate miss Elena. Who also happens to voice owlette on pj masks. I'm so glad DS didn't like that one so we only watched it a few times. I can handle her in short spurts on DT
DD was in to a show called "Caillou" for a few months and it is terrible. I personally think Caillou is a huge wimp and the dad on the show was always working out while the mom was cleaning. Really ridiculous. So, Daniel Tiger has been a welcome change for us. :)
My niece loved Caillou! MIL has tried to get DS into it and I can't handle it. The kid can't control himself, the voices are annoying, and the stories aren't that great.

She's now trying to push Daniel Tiger but he couldn't care less. ;)

  • @midwestbaby  It's a once a year fee. I use it all the time for things--birthday gifts, christmas gifts, you can subscribe and save for regular shipments of other things they are comparable in price to the store (vitamins, toothpaste, cat food, etc.).  Love, love, love it---so spoiled with the free 2 day shipping!

I'm feeling guilty because for many years I've given stuffed animals as baby gifts or first/second birthday presents. I had no idea this was frowned upon among parents until I joined this board! That's not the only thing I would give; if they had a registry I would get something from there, or I might give a book with a stuffed animal. But I have always loved stuffed animals, I was obsessed with them as a kid and still have two of my old ones I couldn't part with. And there are so many cute ones out there, especially those Jellycat ones. For my niece's third birthday last year I gave her this awesome huge penguin that was bigger than her at the time! Now I know her parents must have been like "ugh, REALLY?"

I won't do it again.  :| Maybe. Unless I see a really cute one.
Getting stuffed animals for DS has never bothered me. They're everywhere but he loves them. While changing his bed yesterday I counted 40 stuffed animals he sleeps with. That is only including what's actually on the bed and not at the foot of it. It's a good thing he has a full size!
  • @midwestbaby I use our prime account for everything especially now. It's so easy to just order the necessities like tp and paper towels than run out to the store in the heat and with swollen feet (I'm sure I'll feel this way when the baby arrives too). Also you get Prime Music which is 100% better than Pandora bc there's no commercials. You can listen to one singer or a particular album or a station and it's all free!

@alyssajrob22 Prayers, hugs and good vibes heading your way!!

  • @AMCooper000 I may be sold on the music alone if we can get it to come through our tv speakers :)

  • @midwestbaby If you figure it out let me know! Our smart tv isn't smart enough to do that

  • @alyssajrob22 how far along are you? Will they let you go if you do go into labor? Or will they try to slow it down?

I just looked at our smart tv and I don't think it will work. But I'm sure we could plug our tablet into the tv and have it work that way. May have to ask the hubs to look into it.

  • @midwestbaby I was the same way that you are about Prime. I finally got it and its actually a bit embarrassing how little I shop in stores now. It is a one time fee and the the shipping is always free, so for Christmas shopping I basically make up the money there. I have also used the scan feature on the app when I am at Target to see who has a better deal. Prime music is great, but we also use Prime TV and renting movies is sometimes cheaper than On Demand.
  • @midwestbaby Pretty sure if you have a roku you can stream it that way too...

  • @alyssajrob22 Thinking of you and hope you are doing ok!!
  • Good luck, @alyssajrob22 !!  Hope everything goes well!!
  • @midwestbaby I agree with everyone that Prime is awesome. I never bought much off Amazon until I had it, and now we buy so much stuff that way! The convenience factor alone is worth $99 to me, but we watch a lot of Prime TV and movies, and it's awesome at Christmas.

@alyssajrob22 Good luck and keep us updated!
  • @LWC1112 Caillou is the worst!

    Married May 2014
    DD born August 2016
    Baby #2 due December 2017
  • @alyssajrob22 good luck!

DH and I use Amazon prime way more than I care to admit. The two day shipping alone is worth it to me. We get most of our basics (TP, paper towels, water/seltzer, diapers) from them because trying to lug that stuff into the house, while also having a two year old and being pregnant is not fun!

  • Thanks everyone.. Either nothing exciting is going to happen today or I have a very long time to go. Contractions have slowed down to every 15-20 minutes. :-/ Still monitoring everything and trying to push fluids.
  • @alyssajrob22 I totally missed your post about contractions earlier. Hope everything is going well!

  • @LWC1112 @ashleybaker712 I hear so many parents complain about Caillou and nothing positive so I've never even put it on for DS. We don't get any live channels, just Netflix, so it's been easy to avoid. I am sad they took Daniel Tiger and Sesame Street off though. :(

I do but I'm not extreme about it. I use a combination of things: Sunday paper coupons, store coupons, apps like Ibotta and Checkout 51, and I almost always shop on double coupon day. I also follow a website called pocketyourdollars.com where they make coupon matchup lists for major retailers. I have less time to do all that with a toddler at home now, but I do my best.

I do this too. I tried to extreme coupon once and honestly it was a lot of work in my opinion and had me buy things I didn't necessarily need.

  • @tisunge602 our nanny introduced her to Caillou and would watch it with her. It has been a few months now since she has seen it because as she says "mommy does not like Caillou." Guess she heard my complaining!

Thanks! I don't want to exteme coupon because who really needs 400 rolls of paper towels in their garage? But with all the coupons out there it's almost stupid to just pay full price for things.
  • @alyssajrob22 ahh, sending all my good vibes your way! You GOT this!! Fingers crossed for you. :)

I've been staying up past 1am every night because I know I'll just wake up to pee at least once before then so I may as well just wait to start my night of tossing/turning/getting up to pee
  • Just an FYI, apparently the CLIF Bar brand has recalled some of its products sold at Costco that include sunflower seeds.  I've never seen these types of CLIF Bars at our local Costco, but here is the link just in case you buy them from yours. https://m.costco.com/recalls.html

It really is so disturbing what they find Listeria in nowadays.

Adding on to this, they've also recalled some Betty Crocker cake mixes and gold medal flour for E. Coli. Also I can't remember what brand but some blueberry pancake mix has also been recalled.
  • @Lynnlove28 thank you! I am going to go through the pantry as soon as I'm done typing this.
