@tentacular I'm rewatching the office and started crying when Pam and Jim finally got it together. My SO looked at me crazy and I was just all "they're meant to beeeeee". I've seen the show before. So, yeah.
This is my second go-around of The Office on Netflix, and I cried watching that one too. I wasn't preggo at the time, so I have no excuse. It's just that they're meant to beeeeee! Lol.

I also just rewatched The Office and cried at that part. I hate how they make them annoying later in the series! Such a bummer.
So my MIL called last night to offer a shower and ask when I would like to have it. Don't worry, this was 100% requested by her and I'm going to stay out of planning to the greatest extent possible. Do you guys think early December is acceptable for a 2/6 due date? I read 4-6 weeks before the baby comes when lurking on the January board, but for me that's basically Christmas time. Early January feels risky to me but I can suck it up if early December would raise eyebrows. I do like to be pretty traditional about etiquette, but the only baby shower I have ever helped plan was about 9 weeks before the mom's due date so I don't have much of a frame of reference here.
@Xstatic3333 would you need to travel for the shower? I found myself on bed rest and unable to travel the last two months of my prior pregnancy, and had to miss my shower that wasn't local. The other one was at my house, so I just got comfy on the couch and opened gifts- but it was disappointing to miss the other one. You might consider a little earlier if you have to travel for it!
Wow, thank you all for a new perspective on MILs! For the in laws, this will be grandbaby 23 and while they're happy for us, I highly doubt they will be coming to see baby...I'm guessing memorial day us when they'll finally meet him. They're not far away...they just...have things to do? I was sad, but after reading what some of you are going through, I'm relieved I won't have tough boundaries discussions with them!
My random for the day is that I'm presenting to the #2 guy in the 2.5 billion dollar public company I work for...and my pants aren't buttoned.

Sorry you had to be on bed rest! I won't have to travel though. The site she wants is just about 40 minutes from home. I guess that still wouldn't work if bed rest is required.
@Xstatic3333 I think early December is fine! I had a friend who was due at the end of January and had her shower in early December. The holidays definitely make it tougher but I think it would work. Maybe I'd send out invites a tad early, just to give people notice and time to plan around their holiday shopping.
@Xstatic333 I am having the same dilemma, except mine's even more complicated because two of my sisters have birthdays in early December and my Husband's birthday is mid December...so I'm thinking December will not work at all. We're going to have to either do early January (which makes me nervous, I don't want to be scrambling at the last minute to get things we didn't get at the shower) or go suuuper early and do it like mid-November.....ugh...I don't know. Stupid December babies, making my life difficult!
Edit: Early January will be rough too, because that's when my older sister is due with her first baby

Oh darn, birthdays! Mine is early/mid Dec. That's NBD, but a few aunts and a cousin also are in early December, plus one of my best friend's son. Oh well. I think I'll just say I prefer December to January and stay out of it. I don't think I'll have any control over when invites are sent but I'm guessing MIL's on top of it if she's already planning!
This is going to sound materialistic, but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. People are broke in January. People are in the gift giving, spending spirit in Dec. This is my 2nd kid, it's a non issue for me, but if this were my shower I would lean towards Dec.

Haha yeah like early December though not the week before or after Xmas.
@gingersnap yeah, my mom brought up that point too. She suggested November and then use January as a fall back if for some reason November won't work for the host.

Can I add another materialistic and selfish point? This is my fourth baby, but it has been 5.5 years since I have had a baby. We got rid of everything. I threw sprinkles for both of my sister in laws for their second babies and I damn well hope they plan something for me this time. It was just family, nothing huge, but each time I resented just a little bit that no one did anything for my third (the first two are twins).
Ok, probably should have saved that for Friday, lol.

I'd say do the earlier shower. We have birth at 36w5d with my son, so the last thing I would have wanted would be to have to scramble to get things in order/ go buy the rest of what I need. I'll also echo that I have zero dollars in January!

Yeah, early Dec. So glad I don't have to deal with that again.
This should go in Twatwaffle Tuesday, but it's Thursday so here ya go. My mom has been calling/texting me the past day or two whining about how I don't talk to her anymore and she never gets to talk to her grandchildren anymore. We are already public and she knows about my HG. Each time I miss a call or text I text her back and say "sorry I'm just not feeling well." I honestly go to bed at like 5:30/6:00 when I work. This past week I've had off for vacation while my nephew visits and I've literally spent it watching House on the couch while the kids entertain themselves. Talking out loud ramps up my nausea. I've had to go in for fluids weekly. She knows all this and today she sends me a text of stats, for want of a better term. The last date we spoke on the phone/facetimed/ how long. I'm so mad. I haven't been avoiding her, I've been non communicative with everyone. I skipped a women's bible study this week that I co-lead! This is a long vent but I hate that I'm sick and not only has she not shown that she cares even a little about it, but she is making it her heartache.

@peachesnbean Ugh, that sounds super annoying. The list of stats would really piss me off and I'd have to hold back on responding with a text that read, "Last time you left me alone: 12th of Never."
Maybe you could just tell her exactly what you've said here and that you'd really appreciate her support and understanding.
Why so quiet?? Did you all move somewhere else and leave me behind???
I had my last sono today with my RE, I'm sad to leave her she is such an AMAZING doc! But little Dos was just hanging out beating it's little heart at 166bpm.

Hooray for a great sono! I've been at a conference the last couple of days so not around as much. SOOO looking forward to the weekend, even though it's a busy one.
I slapped my paint samples up tonight. Bottom left and 3rd are the same, bottom right and 4th are the same. The cross is the accent color that we are stencilling a painted headboard with. Very excited to see it all done. I thought I would be fine with the grey in this room, but it's too industrial feeling with as little natural light we get.
We put in an offer on our first house, they accepted, and today we finished negotiating repairs and signed off on the inspection contingency. The house is officially ours!! We close in a month. Quick celebration before all the stress of moving kicks in. Eeeeeeee!!!
Bottom right is a bit brighter. It's a Valspar. I can't remember the name off the top of my head and I'm too lazy to check. Lol. Accent is Valspar Firmament:)
