I'm stepping into a minefield today by having lunch with a couple of friends who don't yet know that I'm KU. We're going to a sushi restaurant, of all places (I know that sushi is generally okay, but I'm being super cautious during 1st tri). I'm pretty much just accepting now that the cat is going to come out of the bag.
@MonaLisaRalphio that was me last Thursday! Except it was three of my colleagues (super small, close office) and someone suggested sushi last minute. I ended up ordering a bento box of stir fry beef, veggie tempura, and some kind of veggie roll. I think I avoided any suspicion.
@MonaLisaRalphio if you don't want to tell them, go the bento box, noodles, or fried tempura route! Otherwise, just let loose! I've been to three weddings since being pregnant and I didn't want to attempt lying (knowing I would epically fail!!!) where people are like "nooooo, you're not on antibiotics, come on" and I totally try to convince them I am. So basically when I came around to ordering something non-alcoholic or something came up and they would say "Are you pregnant?" I would just respond "Yeah, you're right I actually am!" and I think it met them with SO much more shock because I didn't just sit there trying to deny it, as they expected me to. It was really fun actually haha
I am seriously considering sneaking out of bed while DH is still asleep and having apple pie and ice cream for breakfast. I just don't want him to catch me....

So I have a bridesmaid's dress being shipped to me that I'm extremely nervous about. I'm normally about a 6/8 on top and a 12 on bottom, and going by my hip size the salon insisted on ordering me a size 22 even though the dress is "flowy," not fitted. I've definitely got a bit of pregnancy bloat going on, and I guess it's theoretically possible I could have a tiny actual bump by August 20, but my boobs are smallish and I'm concerned there will be no real way to get this to fit properly. This is my first time being a bridesmaid at the ripe old age of 31, and I feel like I should have advocated for myself a bit better. I just hope I don't let my friend down. Another bridesmaid who wears 14 pants was told to order an 18, which I would have felt much better about. On the other hand, my size 4 friend had to order a 10 for her wedding gown, so that makes me feel a little better.
My 4 year old nephew has successfully guessed the sex of 2 babies long before anyone knew what they were having. My sister (his mom) thought it would be fun to ask him about myself to see what he says and if he can get 3/3. Soooo, I asked him (and video recorded it, super cute) what he thought the baby would be a girl or a boy. He excited and instantly shouted A BOY!! so now we are all anxiously waiting to see if he is right lol.
Just a side note: his first guess was a girl for his own baby sister and he was right. His second guess what for my other sister who is 29 weeks pregnant and guessed a boy, which was confirmed through ultrasound a few weeks ago.
@joyful08 did you eat the pie?? Did ya?????? Sounds so yummy!
@xstatic3333 I hope the dress fits, it seems like a large jump in size but I would tend to rely on their estimate since they know their product, hopefully.
@heatsparks omg sooooo funny!!!! I wonder how long it will take him to determine you are lying, my DH would google and be like you are lying get into this bed meow!!
@Gingersnap I love the name selections! I am so think that would be a really adorable story to tell of sisterly love. Now let's just hope it's a girl!
i was pretty much MIA all weekend. We went to the lake with family and had a freaking blast!! I am sure my RE wouldn't have been pleased with all of the crazy stunts on the jetski or the possible last of fluids I wasn't drinking. But oh well back to work tomorrow and fluids like crazy since I've been home.
The only productive things I have done today are go to the grocery store and pick up a few items (read: ice cream) and I have put exactly 5 articles of clothing on the hanger....but have not put those items in the closet yet. Not to mention the 2 overflowing baskets of laundry still waiting to be put away. #winning
@Gingersnap I bet your DD is going to be over the moon when she finds out!
@FishyMom yes I literally just finished eating it! DH woke up before I could sneak out but we just had some and it was heaven. I made it with a crumb topping which was extra yummy with the ice cream. I will probably have another after dinner to be honest.
Oh, and I'm positive I'll get side-eyed for this, but we went public on social media. (It's very soon, but my husband and mom have pretty much told everyone, so I'm rolling with it. Plus, my SIL got me a sparkly shirt and I had mascara on, so this happened).
I'm in the "to each their own" camp as far as when to announce. We are waiting because of our precious loss, but with DD I told everyone at 8 weeks after our dating ultrasound. You do you @HeatSparks
I'm gonna have to tell people sooner than later. I'm a pretty big drinker (socially) and always ready to have a good time. People are gonna get way to suspicious if I keep turning down alcohol.
i've avoided a good number of social outings, but there's only so much longer I can keep this rouse up.
I deserve it tho. I've always been the one to call someone out for not drinking. Guess it's my turn
Me: 36, H: 37 FTM, 2 Furbabies married 03/17/07 lived in Houston, Austin, Los Angeles and NYC due: 2/15/17
I love it @heatsparks ! We have told quite a few friends, but we haven't told our parents yet. We are telling mine this coming weekend for my dad's birthday. DH doesn't want to tell his parents until they come visit again which will be end of July and we will nearly be out of the first trimester.
I need to tell work, which I will probably do after we hit a huge deadline the first week of August.
Once all of those stars align, we will announce publicly!

I always thought I'd want to wait 12 weeks to tell, but once I actually became pregnant I started to find it extremely frustrating to keep it quiet. I don't really like being the center of attention, but I hate having to constantly lie and make excuses for why I am sick, why I'm not drinking, why I can't do some of my regular activities (when not pregnant I went scuba diving most weekends all summer), etc. so despite my worries about announcing early I've just been telling people as it becomes relevant. For better or worse I'm comfortable with my decision.
@raptormomma - July 5th totally needs to be a holiday that we celebrate with laying around a recovering.
Im telling my boss tomorrow that I'm pregnant and quitting in the fall. I'm terrified to transition to SAHM, but I'm 85% sure it's what I want to do. I want to give a couple months notice so I can wrap up my projects and train my replacement. And I want to take time before this LO arrives to figure out life with DS. But losing an income and a job I love is super hard.

I think the kids just instinctively know it's time. My daughter has been bugging us about another baby since around Christmas. Lol
I think Violet and Delilah would be a great sibset.
