  • I feel like a garbage mom sometimes because I find dog hair on my LO in strange places- her neck folds, her arm pit, and yesterday in her mouth! Gross! We work really hard to keep the level of dog hair in our apartment to a minimum but Holly seems to be a magnet for it.
This. In addition to all the baby body crevices ... I find dog hair on DS burp cloths, clothes and blankets.  So gross

I laugh when DS works Himself up to the cry when he pauses in silence for a moment then roars. That face he makes in the quiet moment is so sad/adorable/dramatic all at the same time.

I also sometimes leave DS in spit up Stained onesies all day .
  • @vinerie Nope! Happy mama, happy baby. We are still people even though we are also moms,  having a baby isn't going to automatically erase some part of your personality that enjoys being by yourself or whatever it is that does it for you. I'm all about continuing to invest time & energy into myself personally. Makes me a better mom, and also a happy person.

    Yum nachos!

Not only do crumbs fall in the hair of baby, sometimes when I go to nurse I find them in between the boobs. Yesterday there was a potato chip in there. And some granola pieces.
Lol. Yes! This happens to me so often lately that earlier today when I asked DS1 if he wanted a snack, he actually came over to check my cleavage before running to the kitchen. I mean...no, I've never eaten a piece of donut that fell down there... :*
I just woke my DD up from her nap from where I busted a gut laughing at that lmao.   Thankfully she settled back down to sleep lol

I laughed at this so hard and for so long that I now have the hiccups!! Funniest thing I've ever read. I love this thread!!!

ps I forgot how violent my hiccups are...my LO clearly takes after me
  • My confession: I probably put LO in the rnp more often than I should. I feel guilty about it because of all the controversy, but at the same time I'm so sleep deprived that it's probably more dangerous for me not to at this point since she won't sleep for longer than 45 minutes elsewhere, unless she's on me.

My in laws are coming to visit on Friday and I mentioned to my husband today that he should tell his parents not to wear perfume or anything with a scent since this baby has sensitive skin. It's true, he does have sensitive skin, but the real reason I mentioned it is I can't stand my MIL's perfume and she wears so much of it.

So I'm basically using my 8 week old baby as an excuse and I don't feel remotely guilty. The bonus is my delicious baby won't smell like perfume for four straight days.
Last time mil was here, my baby smelled
like a cheaper hooker for days. So. Much. Perfume!

Lol. MIL was here yesterday and LO smelled like perfume after. Thankfully it was bath night.
  • I don't mind getting up at night and spending so much time with DD2. Why? Because DD1 is the biggest daddy's girl and I am determined that this one will like me better. So unless DH asks to take her or I'm doing something then I have her all the time. I'm not ashamed to use bribery when she gets older either.

Oh I'm sorry, are you me? I don't have a chance with either of my girls, because my husband is just such a freaking good guy, but my confession would be it is easy for me to dial it in with him at home, so I really have to make an effort. God that makes me sound awful. It is probably one of the reasons I breastfeed, because he does so much...

  • @jessicaB0627 Not to compare our children to dogs, but that reminds me of when I was a teenager. I begged my dad to get a dog, and he finally caved. I was lazy with training, so my dad was the one to house break and train the dog. Two years later, I somehow managed to talk him into getting another dog. The first dog favored him so much, so I was determined to have the new dog favor me more. I took on all house breaking and training duties. She did love me, but she still favored my dad more. I was so disappointed after all that work.

Serious confession: I am terrified of racing a mixed child. Every time I see the news or random Instagram accounts, I see so much more racism than I knew existed from all sides. It breaks my heart the conversations my DH and I will have to have with him.
You took words from my own mouth on this.. It wasn't until I was pregnant that I realized the conversations DH &I would need to have as well. Hoping there is a change in the world.

Right there with ya! DH really takes over a huge load and I can't imagine having to do this without his help. For instance I love cuddling DD, but I'll admit that after a while the physical contact gets to be enough for me. I really don't mind having someone to hand her over to. Definitely can't relate to those moms who say they don't want anyone else to hold their baby. And as terrible as that sounds, when I do mind it's more because I'm jealous than because I'm worried...

Plus, we actually formula feed and one of the (many) reasons why I made this decision is so DH could share into feeding duties. I didn't want to be solely responsible for it and after pregnancy I couldn't wait to get my body back to myself. Selfish, I know. Judge away

My POS mom moment: I hate cutting baby nails so much that when DS has a serious scratch on his face is when I decide it's enough and I need to cut his nails...

DH has a thing against nails so I'm the official nail cutter for life

When they're this age, I just do it when they're sleeping, makes it so easy!!

It scares me so much that I make my sister do it. They're just so little both me and DH are scared of cutting her skin on accident so I bring her to my sisters when she needs them dine
  • Dr. Told us not to cut newborn nails, but to use an Emory board. Regardless, we've done neither. He doesn't seem to scratch himself, though. Is this bad that we don't do anything to his nails?

    stuck in a box

I feel bad about nail maintenance too. At the advice of mamas on this board I started to bite my LOs nails (emery board is useless because the nails are too flimsy at this age) because they hurt me when BFing. LO is really not a fan of the nail biting however and so I haven't done it much, and she recently did scratch her face and drew blood. I feel bad but she makes it so hard!
  • I might have a thing for Carter's pajama sets.

Also, having another daughter only enables the spending. "Oh, it will be worn twice": my M.O.

I've been trying to explain this to DH. It's an investment!

Sometimes if Ezra falls asleep during his 2am feeding I don't change his diaper. Which usually means he's in the same diaper from 10-7 am
Yeah, V is in the same diaper from like 8:30-4:30- I actually don't think it's that bad because it's not like she's nursing all night and filling it with poop & pee. If she did more feedings at night I'd summon up the energy to change her more. Maybe.

Right? I would also feel bad if that wasn't when he was in a disposable. I'm always surprised there isn't just a giant mess of poop and pee in there!

I don't really mind having my baby sleep on her side or belly during the night. I just want her to be comfortable enough to stay asleep instead of waking up after 10 minutes. All of my girls preferred side or belly over back and hated being tightly swaddled.
