Weekly Randoms 5-16

New week, new random thread?

A week and a half left to go and I'm just tired of people commenting on my feet/ankles. And also randos who just ask, "What are you having?" There is no need for us to conversate, random stranger. What does it matter to you anyway?

Sorry for my Monday grumpies.

  • I have no confidence in my ability to tell if my LO is hot or cold.

Also, I finally watched Breaking Bad now that I'm awake for 20 hours a day and it totally lived up to all the hype.
I made it to season 4 before LO was born, now I'm afraid to put it on while he's around.
  • STMs... When does bleeding usually stop?
  • I'm at one of my postpartum appointments. I definitely just got asked when I was due. Ugh. I made it super awkward and said 'Oh, well I already had the baby.' They stopped talking pretty much right away.

I'm I total survival mode, tv is helping me stay awake all night while Holly sleeps on me and nurses. She sleeps through noise and light like a champ. Eventually we'll limit screen time around her, when we can get her down to sleep in her bassinet or the rnp, but for now I'm doing whatever I can to stay awake.
Truth! Ezra sleeps through anything I put on, I'm just paranoid!
  • @mrstmoose - Due May 27, right there with you! I've been telling myself that my due date is June 3 for my whole pregnancy though, to prepare for a longer wait. It's helped, but when I think about the possibility of going early I get super freaked out.

@LadySamLady - I'm planning on getting bluetooth headphones for TV watching to try to fix this problem, because until baby can pay attention to screens, I plan on watching so much TV. I mean, we'll see if I actually get around to buying them, but that's the tentative plan.

It's completely inconceivable to me that anyone would check for a ring.

I mean, I know it happens, because people here post about it. But if you guys didn't post about it, I would have no idea that that was even a thing. It's not something I've ever encountered, and when I mention it to my friends in real life, they're all like "huh I wouldn't even think to look."

Not that this is any kind of huge earthshattering revelation, I just think it's one of those weird little moments where I encounter a different set of experiences and realize that people live different day-to-day lives than I do.
  • I have 1 week to go for my RCS. I'm effing dying over here. Please, pleaseeee let my water break so I can go early.  I am tired of all this lightening crotch! I've  never had anything like this!

With my first it was around 3 weeks. I'm 2 weeks pp and it's very light.
  • The more pregnant/closer to my due date I get, the more antisocial and cranky I get.  I don't want to respond to texts or phone calls or see anyone, because yes I'm still pregnant...  Yep, any day now...  I planned to go into the office today and get some work done, but then realizing I'd have to walk into a courthouse full of people obsessed with my uterus while wearing real pants made me decide against it and I just dealt with some clients individually...in yoga pants.  I'll deal with real life tomorrow.

@KyleeWaller & @clbness  YES to the judgey-ness!  I basically get judged any time I have clients with me as it is, but to be 9.5+ months pregnant and without my wedding ring it's even worse.  (Not to mention I worked in yoga pants and tennis shoes today.)  I took a client to get his State ID today and there was a woman that kept pointing to my belly...as if I didn't see her.  So rude.
  • Finally worked up the nerve to look at my post-delivery lady bits in the mirror today......*shudder*
  • Anyone else getting bombarded by ads again?
    Yup.
  • Anyone else getting bombarded by ads again?
    Yup.
Yup. That after I wasn't allowed to love tit or interact in any way... The one problem seems to be solved, let's hope they remove the ads again

@clbness Unfortunately, if my experience is any indication you might be right: I've had a couple of people look at my ring finger. I've been able to wear my wedding ring the whole way through, but when people "check", I wish I didn't have it on! I don't like to satisfy judgmental people. Ugh.

@valerie4786 I haven't had anyone point (that I've seen)! Why in the world would a grown woman do that?

@bkjade that is so rude! How entitled people think they are to know your personal business just astounds me. I recently had a family friend of a friend ask if I was "capable" of 'a natural birth because of my size, which I now think was extremely rude but at the time just confused me!
  • @Charissadeats  Good luck!!  Sending positive vibes your way!
  • Super down that Alex is in neonatal for observation. There is some fluid on the lungs, but he is doing better already. Just struggling not having him here with me/us.
I am happy that they are observing him though!

I know that there are some ladies that had their babies away from them - how did you cope? Cause I feel like crying.

I hope Alex is with you soon! If you feel like crying, do it. I probably would. He looks so sweet. Congrats! @Charissadeats

@charissadeats congrats on your gorgeous lil boy!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it's hard not to have him with you but he is in the best of hands. When will you get to see him? If you need to cry, then cry. How are you feeling? Maybe you can use the time without him to walk and shower. It can be hard after the cs so having a lil time without the baby to adjust might be a good distraction for you.

I will get to see him tomorrow morning when I am allowed to get up and walk. My dr/hospital don't allow us to get up (which is frustrating) for the first 24 hours. My DH goes to him often so he gives me updates. Thank you! I also think he is gorgeous!

I wish our hospitals didn't allow us getting up! Mine was pulling me out of bed 5 hours later to walk. I wanted to punch that nurse in the face ;)  Tomorrw will be here before you know it! Get some rest mama. You are gonna need it!

  • Congratulations @Charissadeats !!!! He is adorable!! I'm sorry you can't see him until tomorrow, I know it must be heartbreaking even though it's for the best. No reason not to let your emotions out of you need to, i agree that if you need to cry you should let yourself. I'm glad your H can see him at least and is giving you updates and hopefully sharing pictures. I'm pretty sure it's closer to tomorrow where you are and it won't be long before Alex is in your arms. Hugs!!
  • Congrats @Charissadeats! I hope the hours pass quickly for you until you're reunited, he's adorable!
  • @Charissadeats congrats - he is so cute! Hoping the time passes quickly and little Alex is in your arms soon

My original plan was to work all the way to my due day, but I'm seriously tempted to put in the towel starting next week.  I would need a doctor's note to get out of work before the baby is born.  My question is, has anyone else done this? I'm nervous if I ask my doctor for a note she is going to tell me since I'm not on bed rest she can't do it.
