It live in the South and it's so hot down here that I'm already absolutely miserable! I'm jealous of those of you who are talking about it not getting to 85 degrees or more yet. It's been in the 90s for days where I live and humid. I get really sick just being out in that kind of heat for more than 5 minutes. It'll be in the 100s soon, just as I enter my third trimester. I'm not looking forward to that at all.
I'm with you. The semester is over, so they did something to the A/C in our office at school (i.e., turned it off!) The hallway is still cool, but our office is sweltering. I could only work in there so long yesterday, and when I got up, my legs and butt were damp from sweat--ugh! Thank goodness we are moving to a neighborhood with a pool
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
@midwestbaby... yes, I have been nesting and organizing and purging like crazy the last few weeks! The nursery is finally done, and so far I've organized about half my house and got lots of yard work done. It makes me feel ready, and I don't want to have to do any deep cleaning for a while once baby comes home.
My random this week is that I got up super early for my appointment yesterday ,glucose test and 28 week appt. I get there to find out I showed up a week early! Lol they fit me in for both anyway, which was awesome since I was careful about what I ate on Sunday (mothers day!) And went through my morning without my coffee. So glad that test is over and really hoping I don't have to do the 3 hour. I did with my second pregnancy, but didn't have GD.
Today is my favorite day of the month because when we moved in to our house last year, I hired someone to clean once every four weeks, and today is the day for May! I want to go home early to just look at how clean everything is before DH and DS arrive.
We have decided on a name for the baby. DH told me he thinks we should not tell anyone till she is born. I honestly don't know if I can not tell my mom and sister. They've been asking and I told them we would probably have her name by my baby shower, but I didn't know DH felt this way.
I'm wondering if I should just tell them we haven't decided on a name yet? I feel like if I told them we have a name but aren't telling anyone they would be offended or something. I don't really care about keeping it a secret from anyone else.
I think if I told him I really wanted to tell them he would give in but he hasn't asked a lot from me and I feel like I shouldn't fight him on this.
Are you guys telling people the name you've chosen or keeping it to yourself until they are born?
@Hannah0726 you could always just say, we told everyone the sex so we are keeping the name a secret until baby is born. That way something will be a surprise for everyone (except you and dh). That is what my sister did and nobody seemed offended at all. We all tried to guess hundreds of times though lol.
@Hannah0726 We aren't telling anyone the name or sex. This is also DH's idea. It's been soooo hard to keep it from my mom especially. I don't mind so much not telling them her name, but keeping the sex quiet is killing me.
I always love the idea of announcing the name on the day they are born. That way no one can ruin what you picked.

I think that's why he wants to keep it just between us. We've been very forthcoming with everything so far. We told our families at 5 weeks we were pregnant because we flew home for Christmas and wanted to tell them in person. Then we told them the sex the day after we found out.
I agree it would be fun to announce the name with her birth announcement.
@Hannah0726 We're not telling anyone. I don't want to hear any comments, and I also feel like I won't be 100% sure of the name til I see baby--most people seem to understand that.
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
@Hannah0726 I would probably just tell people you haven't decided yet. It will prevent people from begging you to share the name. That's what I do with co-workers, clients, etc. who ask if we've picked a name. The worst that happens is that they offer suggestions.
@Hannah0726 Aside from immediate family, we're just telling people that we want to meet the baby before we commit to a name, so nothing has been decided. Or else I just say that yes, DH has named him Lil' Turbo and leave it at that. Nobody has seemed offended, and a lot of people have commented that it's smart not to share.
@Hannah0726 - we are team green but we didn't tell anyone our name choices last time and we won't this time either. We haven't 100% decided on a name and with DS didn't actually decide his name until we were at the hospital while I was in labor (we had 2 boy name choices and no girl names going in but had definite names by the time I delivered).
I don't want to hear any comments good or bad about our name choices and I want to reserve the right to change the name if we decide we like something else different when the time comes.
I think I am going to try and store any breast milk that a freeze in little glass Mason jelly jars. I'm not fond of the idea of freezing in plastic, and this way they will be reusable/green.
My mom was telling me one of the women who will be attending the shower wanted to know if we had a name because she monograms basically everything. My first thought was, "but that's so permanent". While I know it's obviously not, I would feel like we couldn't change it after telling people. I love the name we have, but feel like it won't be her name until she's here.
Thanks for all your opinions ladies! For some reason I had it in my mind that almost everyone shares the name, but maybe it's not as common as I thought.
@Hannah0726 We tell no one any information relating to the names of our potential children. This time we're team green, and its fort knox up in here. Also, we don't officially name them until they come out anyway.
DH had a dream last night that I bit him. He then wakes me up to ask me why I bit him. WTF! I did not bite you and obviously you didn't get the memo, but as the only pregnant person in this house-I have the monopoly on the vivid dreams.
I'm in Las Vegas for work this week and I swear people look at me like they've never seen a pregnant woman before. I'm in a conference hall no where near casinos. Very odd.
The baby has also been unusually still, to the point it is making me nervous. I'm contemplating getting something full of sugar just to feel him move. I'm thinking it is because I've been on my feet all day but still odd.
i need nesting to kick in too. We have done nothing for this sweet baby. Good thing he will be in our room for a while.
We told our families the sex and the name. I tried to keep the sex a secret until our little reveal party (like 2 days) but, myom said I kept saying he on accident and she just pretended not to hear so I don't think I could keep it a secret for the whole pregnancy! Haha
Our son will take my husbands name and everyone just assumed that's what we would do so no issues there. Everyone is starting to say nick names for the baby so that's fun. I seriously give all you ladies a huge standing ovation for keeping that ish a secret!!
Our girl names might be more problematic though- we are kinda hippy dippy and our families would probly have more to say if that time ever comes!
@Nikkoli98 I'd do a bit of research first-- I've read that extra air in the container can cause freezer burn, but I could be wrong. I hear you on the plastic thing, though, for sure.
I've told people our baby's likely name, but most people don't know the meaning behind it because it is pretty personal.
@Nikkoli98 I would also just consider the space issue. When you are creating a freezer stash you end up with a lot of little containers of milk and the bags store nice and flat. If you have a giant freezer chest, this wouldn't be an issue, but otherwise those little glass jars would take up a lot of space!
Anyone else have that moment when you're at the grocery store looking at a piece of produce and then realize that's this week's baby-size comparison? It was cute when it was all raspberries and limes but now we're into melon territory and sh*t is getting real! I had a bit of a freak out shopping for cantaloupe yesterday when I realized that's how big my baby is, and he's going to be even bigger by the time I have to push him out!!
I told DH that, and he pointed out that one of my other aps said an ear of corn for this week. He said, "wouldn't you rather push out an ear of corn than a cantaloupe? Why don't we go with ear of corn." Good old DH, always knows how to make me feel better.
@journogrl23 We've barely seen 70, nevermind 90. I'm still in sweaters. Booo.
I'm jealous of that! I really hate hot weather.
@cait5413 ugh, that sounds miserable! I break out in a sweat the second I take my dog out in the mornings. I'm not looking forward to it getting even hotter!

I wore a long sweater, leggings, and knee high boots today. The high was 46. I'd love some consistent warm weather. We get like one day and then it drops 30 degrees for like 4 days straight. At least it was only raining today and not snowing...

This and also, I donated what I didn't end up using which was 500+ ounces. I would not have donated if it were in jars because of how difficult it would have been.

Agree. And pouring out of mason jars back into a bottle could be tricky with the way they are rimmed. You may want to make sure you have a wide mouth funnel to help. You won't want to waste a drop of breast milk.
@Bookhousegirl, we do already have a very large stand-up deep freeze with lots of shelves, but I can see how limited space would make this impractical.
@Fremdschamen, I did read some blogs about this and several people say it works out very well, of course I won't know for sure until I try. It looks like they make commercially designed rigid plastic and glass containers as well, which would lend itself to the same issue. Both the glass and plastic ones appear to be significantly more expensive than say Ball or Kerr Mason jelly jars - which happened to be rated for both freezing and canning temperatures. As a bonus, they could easily be re-purposed for homemade baby food jars, and I think they will fit in the bottle steamer/sterilizer that I have my eye on.
@midwestbaby, I lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for about a year. I learned this about Wisconsin weather, there are only 2 seasons - winter and the 4th of July.
@midwestbaby - At least it will be heading back into the 70's for another day or two before dropping again.... I'm so sick of this back and forth weather!
I have been in Wisconsin since high school and at 30 years old, I am still not used to the winters here. I always feel like summer comes and goes in the blink of an eye.

@tmk0325 That sounds like perfect weather for me. I know I'm really weird when it comes to weather. I prefer cold to hot and I prefer rain to sun. We get maybe a month of "winter" down here where it's rainy and in the 40s (30s at night) and it's amazing. Then it's straight back to this awful heat. It gets so hot here that if you walk around the city the bottom of your shoes will actually melt off! That's just too much for me. I've always wanted to move to the north (my whole family other than my parents live there) but DH can't handle the cold the same way I can't handle the heat.

Ah yes, but we get like 6 months of winter here. It can get really depressing and cabin fever like. And when it is -30 out, no one walks outside . Let's all move to the middle of the country where there must be a happy medium. Ha!

@midwestbaby that sounds like a plan to me! When I visit my family (northern Michigan) I LOVE the weather. But I can definitely see how three feet of snow and blizzard conditions for months would get old really quick.
I have been in Wisconsin since high school and at 30 years old, I am still not used to the winters here. I always feel like summer comes and goes in the blink of an eye.
I am your neighbor over here in Michigan. I have lived here my whole live and winter gets worse the older I get! Seasonal depression is a real thing.

Haha it is true. We had an extremely mild winter this year (born and raised in WI so speaking from experience) and it was still long. It wasn't the coldest winter - the last two prior were brutal- but we had snow in April and quite a bit of it. I think the perfect climates would be North or South Carolina or San Diego. Lol average of 75 year round!!
I moved here from Northern California when I was 14 and the first winter was apparently mild. I thought I was going to die when it hit the teens lol. Now I just try and embrace it as much as possible. We just moved to a neighborhood with a sled hill and I'm super excited to let my future kiddos experience that.
The only place I can think of that I wouldn't mind moving to is Washington. I was born there and have family there. The summers aren't too hot, winter is barely cold. The only thing is all the rain, but I think it can be peaceful. Although the Carolinas sound really appealing too! Beaches and sun! Sign me up!
