Ahhh it's finally May! crazy to think we are finally ... almost... there!!
Question for the working mamas - are you still working? Do you have scheduled time off before your EDD? are you working until your EDD?
My EDD is May 26 and i plan on being here until our sweet baby girl makes her debut - especially since i will only get 12 weeks off. However, this morning i rolled out of bed, feet sore and swollen, moving like and 90 year old woman, and i looked at myself in the mirror and wondered WHYYYYY. I've got a great job, i work for a regulatory agency and i really just sit at my desk and write emails most of the day but it is still exhausting to be here and have to use my brain ( im also training two people for when i'm gone ...yikes) Anyways, I started contemplating the idea of taking the week off before my EDD ... which got me wondering what YOU all are doing????!!!!
Happy Friday!

I agreed to judge high school senior graduation projects where they all have to give a presentation. And this morning I got all emotional about a boy who did his on the police department and then talked about how after graduation, he's joining the army. The presentation was in no way emotional, but then I started thinking about my own son and what if one day he wanted to join the army and I legitimately got teary and I think I freaked the kid out. LOL Oh jeez... I'm ready to goooooo...
I'm in the working club. My job is also heavily computer based. I am definitely not as speedy as I used to be and the days were the office gets too warm are a bit miserable, but I keep telling myself the longer I stay at work the longer I get to hang out with baby
I do have a ridiculous spreadsheet that I update almost daily with when my leave will start and how I will use my vacation/sick time/disability leave so I funnel all of my crazy into that.
If I were to head out early, the reason would be due to being at the end of my rope with my co workers.
As a note, I tried telling my manager yesterday, but she was just as bad, so I figured it was a waste of time and effort.
Little brother was born October 1, 2012.
I just hope she doesn't stay in too far past her DD. A few days at home to get things ready would be perfect. I just don't want to be still sitting around waiting 2 weeks from now! It's a gamble either way, I guess.
DD: 05/14/16
Actually working isn't so bad. It's a desk job and my chair is reasonably comfortable. Walking a mile and a half each way to and from the office is getting to be tiresome, though. It wasn't so bad until recently, but midway through Week 38, things suddenly got much harder out of nowhere. The past couple of days, I've been pretty beat by the time I get home, and I don't know if I'd still be doing this if my cases were done.
They're not, though, so every day I gotta haul my ass back in there until that changes.
DS: 9/18/12 - 40w5d // DD: 05/17/16 - 40w
Also, I really would not like to go into labor at work, but the hospital is about a 7-8 minute drive from my office versus a 30 minute drive from my house..
DS1: May 2016
DS2: Jan 2019
Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
However, the closer I get - the more I realize and come to terms with being so far along and really needing to rest up while I can. I keep saying " yes" to different things and am getting overwhelmed - this weekend I am helping coordinate a garage sale fundraiser (all the items are in my garage and need to be priced .. Ah why do I do this to myself), having my shower tomorrow, and I have 3 seperate Mother's Day celebrations between sat/sun.
@Merciel I hope you get your cases done!! Reading that you walk to work makes my legs hurt, and also my vag - becuse EVERYTIME I walk up the stairs to work I feel like mine might fall out:(
I'm glad we have so many working mamas on here! It seems as though many of you are making it to the final weeks or even past - That's literally amazing and gives me hope! Sounds like many of you are scheduled to be induced next week! Can't wait to see you ladies on the birth announcements!!
We live in a third-floor walkup so I get lots of practice on the stairs too. Whee!
Well, silver lining: postpartum weight loss should be hardly any effort at all.
I honestly don't know if a desk job would be easier tho....sitting at a desk isn't exactly comfortable these days! You ladies are amazing!
my bladder and the commute are not getting along as of the last week!
Also, I'm really tired of talking to people about being pregnant. Anything I can do to avoid that.
My question is for the STM working moms when did you feel able to work again? I want to give my employer a timeframe when I will be back at the computer. I am an independent contractor and work on an hourly wage so am anxious to get started again but don't want to over do it. It will only be for 4-6 hours a day and DH will be around to help.
i realize everyone recovers differently but any advice from you ladies who've been there before is much appreciated!
Im also in the "sick of pregnancy questions" club. I know I'm big and bulky but just leave me alone already!!
