  • Still at work. @eerin86 you are a badass, still working at 40+4!! My RCS is scheduled for 40+6 but I refuse to work past my EDD next Thursday. Still not sure if I'm going to take the rest of this week off or not, I am hoping to ask my boss for either half days or to work from home this week. But next week I'm not coming in. I really feel pretty good for almost 39 weeks, but I have carpel tunnel in my right hand and have had pins & needles/numbness for weeks, and my swelling gets so out of control by the end of every workday. Those are mostly just annoying but still - a girl can only take so much.

@merciel - I have made myself a kit incase my water breaks that I just keep in my car! A Ziploc with two massive pads and a new pair of granny panties, plus two towels and a piddle pad ;)

@sillyfox hand pain is also my biggest complaint, but mine are only swollen and feel arthritic, not quite to the symptoms of carpal tunnel (that sounds awful!). My arthritis compression gloves have saved me! They make a big difference especially once I asked my doctor if I could wear them at night (swelling was really bad in the mornings).

@clbness that's rough, people are the worst... try to look grumpy and stick to the one word answers! ;)

  • 40 weeks + 4 and still at work today. I'm so ready to be done with work, but I don't want to just sit around and twiddle my thumbs at home until he comes!

@EErin86 Good idea...I'll work on my resting bitch face!  And it's not like they're being offensive...just annoying. :weary:

I should do this too...great idea!
  • I worked full-time up until the end with my first. No regrets, I didn't want to have time go even slower by sitting at home waiting for labor.

This time around I work part-time, but I am still working until the very end. I am scheduled for induction on Sunday and I plan on working this Friday.

Today was day #2 of working from home, but because my work stopped giving me new assignments about 2 weeks ago, I have hardly anything to do.  Yesterday consisted of responding to 2 emails, and all I did today was write a letter and email it to my assistant to mail out. I know I should be enjoying all of this "down time," but I'm honestly bored out of my mind.  I'm just glad I don't have to do this for very long.  If I don't go into labor on my own sooner, I have an induction scheduled for a week from tomorrow.  At least after LO is here and I'm officially on ML, I will have something to do.
  • My adjusted EDD is Friday...still working though I've been lucky enough to work from home since last week.  Fully agree with @clbness the worst part is the constant instant messages "you still here? when are you going to have that baby already?".  One of my coworkers sent me like 10 different meme's for 40 weekers which are helping get me through with only moderately HR inappropriate retorts.  Still feel like a dragon lady though.

Last night DH and I talked about setting Friday as my last day...we're both starting to think work stress might actually be hindering labor since I keep starting and stopping.  Yesterday I took a long lunch to get a pedi and a blow out to try to relax but work called 5x during that time.

I told my employees to stop betting on delivery dates because they are all obviously very unlucky as they still work here and haven't won the lottery yet and are all taking me down with them.

  • Still at work. I'm so done. I hardly sleep anymore because I get up to pee about 5x/night. My toddler was up early (damn you two year molars) screaming & crying. Then when I was almost ready I was carrying her (because DH has a bulging disc and "can't" and a two year old doesn't listen to commands like "Let's go to the car") and she bit the everliving shit out of my shoulder. I dropped her on the bed and yelled no, so she started crying, then I started crying. Finally got to work 20 minutes late and I am so tired I can barely see straight. My boss still hasn't gone over maternity leave with me, and since we're not covered by FMLA at all, I'm not sure if I will even still have a job, much less get paid while I'm out. So I'm kind of panicking about that. Asked him about it again yesterday and he blew me off again. FTR I would much rather be bored at home than getting up, wrestling a toddler, getting dressed and putting on makeup, and sitting at a desk with my massive swollen feet/legs and carpel tunnel numbness in my right hand and having to pretend to care/work. The nursery is a wreck, I still haven't taken down all the decorations from DD's birthday party last weekend, and I could be doing things like sweeping, dishes, laundry, and watching Teen Mom. /rant

I feel like I just got the biggest side-eye from my boss because she walked in and here I am with my feet up on a chair, laptop in my lap, and it looks like I'm just chillin. (Well, I am on here, so okay fine I am chillin). But after lunch, my feet just have to be up, they are so damn puffy.

It's like after a certain point, the at-work pregnancy sympathy wears off (not that I need any, just leave me alone lol) and it's time to go. I'm dumb for working all the way up til 40 weeks.
  • If it makes you feel better I hit 41 weeks today, and I'm still working :)
  • I was going to go all the way until there was a puddle on the floor (love the jar of pickles idea for covering up water breakage!) but after a lot of thought I'm throwing in the towel.  Today is my adjusted BDD and 41+2 weeks from my last period. Work (even from home) is keeping me too stressed and probably a bit too sedentary to get things going.  As much as I don't want to take another week off unpaid, I need to do this for me.

Murphy's law - I've wrestled with this all week, I'm going to push send on the notification that I'm out after today and POP water is going to break making me one of those 5% who actually go on their EDD.

  • I decided to have today new my last day too. Hopefully little guy comes on his own in the next couple of days!
  • Yesterday was my last day also. But I brought some work home so my leave won't officially start until baby arrives. Strong back to back BH all day today, hoping that's a good sign?
