Who's ready for board organization?

As the board will be growing quickly with more people joining and posting, we should start to consider getting our guidelines set, getting volunteers for weekly/daily threads, EDD spreadsheet, monthly siggy challenges, etc, all set up. This will keep the board clean, organized, and if we have set guidelines, people know what to expect. We can go ahead and get started on this now, or we can wait a week or two to let the board fill out a little bit more. I will gladly volunteer to undertake the guidelines post whenever we decide we're ready for it. So, what do you think? Any other comments/ideas/special requests for board organization are welcome in the comments!

I think it's a great idea to get started now - it'll probably be easier than waiting for the board to get busier.  Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

I guess I'm in the minority. I love how informal it currently is. Anyone can start a thread and no one cares. I've found myself preferring this board to the D16 one already because they are SO organized and you have to check a long list before starting a post to see if it ACTUALLY belongs in one of the weekly threads and then go find that one. It just doesn't feel as welcoming and chatty to me.

But, meh. It's going to happen at some point, right??

I actually think that's a fair point. I've struggled with this as well - I feel like it's going to happen but I like the flexibility of this board right now.

Wait do dailies mean we can't start random threads? I thought the dailies were just like ice-breaker themed posts? (I was part of the mass nest exodus 4+ years ago so I haven't been around these boards in a looooong time, forgive my ignorance) 

I like the lack of formality but get that when we have 3000% more posters in a month or two it'll be straight chaos ::shrug:: I'm down with whichever is the majority!

I'm definitely cool with random posts.....for now. There are not many of us ATM, but I'm sure that once we have a whole bunch of people posting their own thread to ask a question every day, it will drive those of us who are used to other groups on TB forums crazy. I think we can just find a happy medium. In the guidelines post there will be a phrase similar to "try to use the search bar to see if your question has already been asked before you make a new post" but we do need posts for people to search, haha! Like I said, I'm down for whatever the group is down for!

I would love a weekly PGAL thread. I wouldn't mind being the one who starts it each week if you are looking for people to commit to weeklies.

@cjs260 I'm willing to start dailies or weeklies as well. Just need to come to a consensus about 'what' we're starting. I think the easiest way to organize is to take a look at an established board and see what they've done. We should also do a 'Newbies read first' thread once we establish board rules.

In other groups I've been in, weeklies included a "randoms" thread where you can post random things. One of my favorite threads as a ftm was the question and answer advice thread where the ftm could ask any questions and the stm+ could answer. I learned a TON about breastfeeding that way.

@MrsRahl I think that is a wonderful idea! Looking through our guidelines post, I think we have a "Weekly (and Weekend) Randoms" listed. Feel free to start such a post at any time

Yes! I was just about to suggest this! I too learned so much from those threads with my first pregnancy.

Yes please! The disorganization is making my brain hurt. And I'm afraid of repeating threads. Organization will make this easier to avoid and keep the board from getting too cluttered.

@LoveIsOwlYouNeed I was told to look for an update on the app within a week. That was a week ago, so it should be any day now. Maybe if several of us tag the BG and write on their walls, they'll sticky our guidelines, introductions thread, and EDD spreadsheet. I believe they are @BumpTara @BumpCaitlin @BumpAdmin
