@seitzy3 yes that's a creep show at its finest. Who the f*ck offers a pregnant lady drinks and to sit in their hot tub? Damn weirdos...
My random of the day is I'm super pissed at one of our tenants. We live next door to her and just found out TODAY that there has been an ongoing leak which is causing SEVERE water damage and the entire ceiling will need to be replaced. I'm upset that she didn't let either of us know and she has been seeing us on a regular basis, including the first of the month when rent is due. Currently looking up landlord's rights in this situation as I am not about to pay to put her up in a hotel for a week when this problem could've been an easy fix if she had let us known when it was a minor issue. I know a few of us rent properties, anyone else with this hellish experience?
I've had this terrible headache since Thursday and it's just gotten progressively worse. It doesn't go away (Tylenol helps but not completely and it comes back as soon as it wears off) and it's at the point where it's so intense that I've just stayed home pretty much all weekend. My BP is completely normal and I don't have ither symptoms. I'm at the point where I don't know if I should call my doctor or not... Anyone think I should?
Well, internet was out again and now back up, and I've got 231 posts on this thread alone to catch up on!
Water intake- I have a 40 oz Hydroflask- keeps water cold for DAYS. I refill it at least twice per day, sometimes 3 times, and I drink other liquids. I'm thirsty pretty much always, even at night. I get up to pee, take a sip or two of water. It's a vicious cycle!
Where I live in NY it's soda and lollipops. Sports stuff- not into much but I love the Rangers and the Yankees!
Yay for all the ladies who had good appointments this week!
Birthing classes- our hospital is so far, so we're doing their baby boot camp, where we go up and do one full day of courses and the hospital tour all in one day. I will be collapsing after!
My randoms- FINALLY got DH to come to the big Babies'R'Us (half an hour away) so we could beef up our registry! We finally picked car seats and a stroller, a crib, etc. etc. Have to give him credit for his patience, we were there for about 3 hours or more lol! And I finally cracked my sister- they want to have my shower in August. I'm hoping they do it really early August incase this little guy comes early! I really don't want a sip and see.
@RedMar I cannot believe your tenant did that to you guys! I really hope you can find something that supports you, as the landlord or, worst case scenario, your insurance steps in and covers everything!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom I had literally the WORST headache of my entire life about a week and a half ago. It lasted two days before finally ebbing and taking another day or two to dissipate completely. Tylenol was useless, my head hurt so bad I couldn't even rest/sleep so that was no help. The only thing I found that took the edge off was Benadryl. Not sure if it was because the headache was pressure-related or if it just knocked me out enough to sleep but it may be worth a try... And I would say, yes, call your doctor. Looking back now, I probably should have called mine...
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom -- another vote for go ahead and call. It won't hurt and that's what they are there for. I have called mine with some crazy stuff, and always felt better for having done so.
I decided last pregnancy that anytime I was in the situation of, "should I call or not?", I would call. My doctor is really cautious and would prefer I call a million times than to not call the one time I need to.
@RedMar does your lease say anything regarding repairs that need to be done due to the negligence of the tenant? Most standard leases have a clause along those lines. You could likely put the cost of the repair on the tenant. May require a court order but that could be accomplished in small claims court.
Yes it does. It also states that tenant is to keep landlord in communication of any problems that arise. We are continuing to investigate before we start tearing out the ceiling. Thanks @PSUBecky23
Happy Monday, ladies. I 100% do not want to be at work today, but here I am. My 17 month old is going through a phase at home where he only wants a couple bites of food then says "all done" and does the sign for it. Sometimes he'll eat a bit more, other times things get ugly if I don't let him down soon after... Doesn't help that I'm OCD about my kiddo gaining weight (for no known reason.. he's always been right around the 45-55% for weight). He seems to eat well at daycare, so going to ask a million questions today at pick up, like whether they put a variety of foods out at once or one type at a time, how much milk they let him drink with meals, whether things are cut up into tiny bites or he takes bites of his own (he waivers between wanting help and being fiercely independent.. typical toddler).
Did someone on here recommend to read the Wayward Pines books? I've been slowly reading the first one on my second monitor here at work to kill some downtime, and am maybe 1/2-2/3 done the first book, it's pretty entertaining and intriguing. Then I'm watching TV yesterday and I see a commercial and I literally said to myself "This looks so ridiculous. If this is the show Wayward Pines.. I am not reading another page" ... welp, it was.
At this point the book is just eery, but there hasn't been any sort of creature/monster/whatnot yet, just a really screwed up, fake town where people are aging oddly. Does it get really cheesy/stupid? From anyone who has read or seen the first season?
@AnnaS930 If it makes you feel better at all, at McKenna's 18 month appt, the pediatrician brought up that it's common at this age for them to reduce their eating because growth is slowing. We have some meals where she won't eat much. If it's something I know she likes, I usually assume she isn't hungry and let her be. If I'm worried it's a picky-ness issue, I'll offer something else.
Thanks @camichael84- I'm having a hard time adjusting to this flat part of the growth curve! I need to realize that if he's acting content with tons of energy and sleeping well.. he must be getting the calories he needs, and to stop sticking him on the scale so often!!
@RedMar - Funny enough, DH and I are on the exact opposite side of your situation. We've been in our rental for 2 years this month. At the one year walk through, we mentioned to the owner that the tub/shower in our bathroom needed to be re-caulked and offered to do it. He told us no, he wanted it done professionally. Ok, cool. But that never happened. Fast forward to this January. All of a sudden there's a leak in our kitchen ceiling, right below where our tub is. As of December, the owner turned everything over to a property management company, ensuring us that they would be able to take care of things at the properties much more quickly than him since he owns multiple rental properties and is only one person. So we contact the management company. A MONTH went by and we heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement of our call and email. DH calls again and tells them you need to come out here and fix the leak as well as the cabinet in the kitchen that has come loose from the wall. "We'll come look at the leak, but we're waiting to hear back from the owner about the cabinet just in case we have to replace the whole thing." (They ended up putting two screws in to fix it, that's all it needed.)
So now we're at the end of May. Two people have been out three different times to address the leak. It has been re-caulked twice by them and once by us (the only time it helped was when DH did it) and we're STILL waiting to hear back from them because they've told us that they're STILL waiting to hear back from the owner. We're well aware that there is water damage and have done everything we can to contain it but, in the end, if he can't make a decision, it's his problem. We've done our part.
Hoping that things go well for you though. Would have been nice if your tenants could be responsible enough to inform you when there was a problem!
My random... I am exhausted, and DD is grumpy. We drove to the Cincinnati zoo yesterday, which is about 1.5 hrs away. McKenna did not sleep the whole day until we were on the way home. Then because she napped until nearly 6, she didn't go to be until 11:30. Then was up at 6:30 this morning. Praying she makes up for all this sleep weirdness with a long nap.

I think I am the one who recommended it, I still haven't finished the first book but it's because lately I just fall asleep when I start reading. I have been seeing commercials for the new season and it doesn't seem like the first. I really really loved the first season, I wouldn't say it gets cheesy/stupid, it is more like the mystery behind the town starts to unfold and you get to find out what is behind the wall.

We put in a bid today for the condo!!! I'm so nervous. The place was great, some small wants I had were not met but I would say it has 90% of everything I want. It isn't in the most walk friendly immediate area, about a half mile away starts a very nice walking area. Ahh, I can't believe we actually put an offer in, should hear by tomorrow.
@AnnaS930 & @camichael84 - At DS's last well-baby visit we told the doctor that DS is a bottomless pit - especially when fruit is being served. The doctor warned us that it is very common for kids to have a huge appetite around 1 year and then barely eat anything at 2 years. He said that he has had many parents over the years wonder if their 2 year old is starving...There are days when my son hardly touches his food, but he still has plenty of days where he amazes me at how much he can eat! I am pretty sure he could eat his bodyweight in fruit if we let him. Makes for some fun diapers.
@marajay6- If Emmett was given an endless snack buffet I think he could put down more food than me in a day. When it comes to fruit, crackers, cheese he is non-stop. Then last night for dinner he sits down (I served him chopped suey, corn, and a roll) and he only ate the corn then wanted to be done. I gave him some fruit and he had a few pieces and was still done. Roar.
He had had a lot of snacks which I'm SURE limited his appetite last night, but on days that I pull back on snacks he still doesn't eat much at meals and I'm left wondering which is better? Fill him up on snacks so he's eating SOMETHING? or limit snacks to encourage meals and risk him eating next to nothing all day?
... My name is Anna, and I'm a chronic over-thinker. My goal with #2 is to ease up on the obsession with baby's consumption and weight gain. I'm really really going to work on letting go.
@jhems776 Thats's so exciting! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
@marajay6 Same with my DD and fruit. Or cheese or pasta. If she turns any of those things down, I know she truly isn't hungry because she normally will eat those things to no end. The cheese and pasta counteract the fruit, so we don't get as many of the fun diapers.
Hahaha! @TheTamedShrew just to be clear I wasn't thinking of the quesadilla during (or maybe I was??) But for some reason right after I just blurted it out. He laughed and made me one. I love that man
@annas930 both of my boys are pretty much bottomless pits, but they also go through slower stages. We stick to our regular routine of food and don't ever force or stress when they aren't eating as much. Usually it's followed by a few days of nonstop feasting, so be prepared
DH left for a last minute business trip, so I'm solo with both littles all week. Normally nbd, but I'm so low energy lately. It's going to be a long week for sure.
So, fiance and I got into a pretty bad argument last night. As a result, I slept horribly. I sleep with a "C" shaped pregnancy pillow and I'm usually great about sleeping on my side, but I woke up on my back this morning with my entire stomach in pain and a throbbing headache. The stomach pain only lasted about 5-10 minutes after I got up and moving. I also had a nightmare that something bad happened to the baby. Could this have been Braxton Hicks? Baby is moving normally.
So in my newsfeed on FB this morning, a video pops up of an old co-worker's 7 year old son riding in the front seat of a car. Car is visibly moving while driver (relative of former co-worker) is video taping. Mom of child's only comment on the video is "have fun". Ummm... WTH?
@sbrown721 In my experience Braxton Hicks are more of a tightening (belly feels like a basketball) and not painful. I hope you work things out with your fiance!

The number of children I see on Facebook improperly buckled or just in the complete wrong car seat makes me insane.
@camichael84and @PSUBecky23What also irks me is how often the kids are in the wrong seats on TV shows/in movies. Like really.. why show a baby forward facing? Are the directors that ignorant or care so much about the scene that they want this blatant mistake in their film? I just hate it so much, they fact check other areas of movies (and still make a lot of mistakes) but why is no one saying "uhh, that baby is nowhere near old enough to ride that way" and correcting it? Roar
I have my echo-cardiogram in a few hours. I was just reading through some things and realized that there are different kinds and some require you to not eat for 6 hours prior to the u/s. I'm hoping that, since this wasn't mentioned at my cardiologist's office or by the hospital when they called, this doesn't apply to me. Otherwise I'll have to reschedule. Ugh. Guess I'll find out this afternoon.
@UnwritteN12- that would be a huge goof on their part to not mention something so vital, especially for an afternoon appointment. Hope you're correctly prepped and that all looks good!!

DS1 has been really into Toy Story lately. It's an older movie obviously, but I LOL a little to see the baby FF in a car seat in the front seat. And a drop side crib.
@PSUbecky23, catching up from the weekend, but that totally sounds like regular 3yr behavior in my experience. Can you ask for further clarification? I guess I would only be interested in finding out more about the expressing emotions part. Not sharing and not sitting for long periods of time? Whatever.
@fireflygirl12 the teacher who wrote the evaluation is on vacation this week and I rarely cross paths with the director as she comes in after I drop off and my husband does pick up. I'm going to have to make a special trip but I was going to ask for a meeting with the director and teacher.
I'm going to do the EI evaluation just to see what a professional says and hope that they confirm my feelings that it's totally normal behavior.
