Just catching up on everything from the weekend...
@lovelylauren86 So sorry to hear about your cousin and his family. My heart goes out to them.
@Jabreen Best of luck to your Mom in her journey as well as to you and the rest of her support system as you are embarking on a journey as well! I'm fortunate that my Dad has been sober for the past ten+ years but it was a long road to get to that point...for him and for everyone else involved! Good for your Mom to take the first step on her own and good for you for supporting her but also being able to take a step back and care for yourself during this stressful time!
@jhems776 I never know what anyone is talking about when they call out specific posts. And I'm, like, attached to TB so I doubt I completely missed them...most likely my pregnancy brain just not putting two and two together. :sigh:
@JennM205 Thanks, and that's awesome about your dad. I have seen a lot of those stories on this thread in the replies I've gotten, which is really comforting. I think that my mom is ready for the work, so I'm hopeful that I'll have a story like that, too.
As for the post we're talking about, look for a user whose name is related to archery and who is asking about how to stay afloat in the coming months. She has made a couple of high drama posts in the past, too.
@jhems776 - IDK if she's all MUD or not, but I have nothing to add to her posts anyway so I just don't respond. I'm pretty drama averse, and have no desire to get roped into hers!
I hadn't thought the poster in question's posts had been made up (though certainly dramatic), but today's thread made me speculate it's all been MUD. Especially as she only seems to post about this particular subject.
I don't think it's MUD, I think it's REAL D! Which is pretty sad
I'm so work adverse today that I'm finding any and every reason to start a thread in order to have something to read. Anyone have some good lurking I can do on another board? Some MUD?
If it isn't MUD, she is very young and naive. And she is the kind of person who gets herself in undesirable situations and cannot find her way out - probably a learned helplessness from not having a good support system growing up. In one of her posts she mentioned that she doesn't like staying at her parent's house because her dad (or was it stepdad) is a bit abusive. She is stuck in the cycle.
@jhems776 I'm always like "can't this girl find the randoms thread"
anatomy scan went well even with almost missing it due to a paperwork snafu. They got all the pictures they needed, and he is measuring right on target with everything
DH took our older dog to the inlaws last night so he can breed with their girl. He is going to be gone for a while and our younger dog doesn't know what to do with himself. He is definitely missing his buddy.
Since DH will be gone for a couple days I did some grocery shopping for myself yesterday and when I was picking up my thyroid mess the pharmacist commented on how I had "mostly snacks". I very politely told him I was pregnant and left it at that, but I wanted to snap back at him that I didn't needs his comments about what food I eat.
@geminigirl16 -- wow! I'm impressed! What a memory! I did have additional testing this morning and it went really well. The choroid plexus cyst is no longer there. Baby does NOT have the transposition of the great vessels they suspected. And, the possible heart defect is so minor the MFM doc wasn't even sure it was there. My umbilical cord does only have one artery, but he said it seemed to be compensating and doing its job just fine. He seemed pleased with how baby girl is growing (21st percentile, but he said he doesn't worry until babies are below 10th). I will see him every four weeks for growth scans and to monitor the heart. I LOVED the doc and will be glad to have appointments every two weeks between him and my usual OB. Today was a real relief. Thanks for asking!
@Thscary Yay for a happy and successful anatomy scan!!
@sporty1216 I'm so glad you got good news at your testing today.. and an extra bonus that you really liked the doc since you'll be seeing them regularly now. Winning all around!
@AmMcc12 I HATE when people (especially strangers) comment on what/how much I'm eating. Even when I'm not pregnant. Like, what gives you the right to judge what I eat, dude? A guy I used to work with used to make comments if I was eating crackers with my sandwich during lunch -- I guess he thought I was eating too many carbs or something. And the funny thing was that he was the one who was tipping the scales, not me..maybe it was just his insecurity coming through?

@SLou24Yes! So much this! I have a coworker who does this constantly and it irritates the crap out of me. She will also look at anything anyone brings in to share and go, 'Oh that donut MUST be 250 calories, I'd have to walk 3 miles to work that off.' Like lady, if you don't want it, don't eat it but your discussion on what we are or not eating is condescending and b*tchy and newsflash, everyone dislikes you for it!

@LakeR2014 Oh my goodness, people that bring up calories in other peoples food are the WORST!!! I get so irritated by that. Another guy I used to work with (who are these a-holes that I find at my jobs?!) used to tell me how many calories he thought was in my granola. I think he worked as a nutritionist on the side, but what he didn't know was that I have my MS in Nutrition. Boom. I used to just be like "Yep, you're right! And...?"
I do have a crazy memory for some things, it's a bit odd. Regardless, I am so happy that you got some reassuring news today @Sporty1216 Also the fact that you liked the new doctor is awesome! I love my OB and find that I am less stressed in my pregnancy than I thought I would be and I attribute a lot of that to her and my trust in her.
Oh...this is super random...I just remembered my dream from last night. I was bowling, while pregnant. In a dress. With super slippery shoes. And in front of my high school classmates, most of whom I haven't seen in 10+ years. Weirddd.....
I want to tell everyone about these blueberry flavored almonds from blue diamond. Perfect healthy snack to satisfy a sweet craving. I stumbled upon them on accident but they are glorious. Just in case anyone else is looking for healthy but tasty snacks
Random for the day: I'm supposed to have my 20 year HS reunion at the end of July...I'm thinking NO WAY IN H#LL do I want these people to see me that large. It's not like I can fit into a cute dress...or wear heels...or stay up past 8. Would you go?
@pilotswifey I haven't and won't go to any of my high school reunions, pregnant or not. Facebook kind of makes reunions obsolete, in my opinion. I know what 80% of my former classmates are up to these days due to social media. The ones I care enough to see in person, I still see.
@pilotswifey unless there are a bunch of people you care to catch up with then I think it's cool to skip it. I agree with @camichael84 I also know what half of my class is up to because of social media and I chose to skip my 10 year reunion this past August. Well, I also didn't want to spend the money on air fare and I also went to an all girls Catholic high school and only had a few close friends from school. Soooo it was an easy decision for me.
But everyone loves a pregnant woman! I'm sure you are just being hard on yourself. Maybe consider making it a fun night out and enjoy yourself
The whole people commenting on food- oh hell no! My dad's side of the family is all thin and basically health freaks- my dad has done 3 iron mans, they only eat healthy, all weigh next to nothing- so I'm used to getting those stupid comments from them in the past about how the one cookie I'm about to eat would take 5 miles running to work off, or get the side-eye when having more than a glass of wine (pre-pregnancy). I've chosen to not be around them as long as humanly possible while pregnant. I don't need any side eye for snacking or comments on my weight. My grandmother made a comment about how I should watch what I eat and I came back with "Oh trust me, I am! I am obsessed with food so as soon as I see it, I want it!" (sarcasm- I don't actually eat everything lol. But seriously- my weight gain is none of their business, and FTR my doctor is perfectly content with my weight gain thus far so I have no problem snapping at anyone who judges me for eating!
@jhems776 Are you one of those people that can effectively keep track of each user and their posts? I absolutely cannot. It would take me months of consistent sob stories before I'd be like "Wait, does this person complain a lot?" have NO memory for screen names! I'm always impressed by folks like you!
@pilotswifey I am supposed to go to my 15 year reunion at the end of July and am considering skipping it (for several reasons actually). First off, I attended and helped plan the 2 mini reunions we had at the 10 year mark. It seems like the same people go to these and I could catch up with them all on FB. I was considering going to this one in July only bc more people seemed like they were going that I wouldn't mind seeing but I'm starting to think I prob won't enjoy it being that pregnant. My point is that I understand where you are coming from and wouldn't blame you for not going. But if you really want to see some people then try not to let size bother you and celebrate the fact that you are creating life and have the bump to prove your success!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
Now spending an extra ten minutes during my before bed ritual lotioning and oiling up. All over my boobs, butt, hips, belly...and not for the hanky panky. Sigh.
RE to the banana bread... So I hate cousin subs... just never cared for the bread, the seasoning the meat or mayo they use. That being said, I have been craving their ham and cheese non stop for the last 3 weeks... DH is so confused
I decided to go to bed last night without finishing the dishes. Welp this morning my brother was in the bathroom so i vomited in the sink. On my dishes. Karma is not on my side today
I was asleep on the couch by 9pm last night. We moved up to bed around 9:30 and I slept until 6:30 with hardly any restless time. HELLO 9 HOURS OF SLEEP! ... I don't feel any different. My husband is off today while little man is at daycare, he's already running the dishwasher and bought mulch to finish my flower gardens. Go hubby go!
@Sporty1216 so happy you received good news!! Hope it continues as you have your check-ups.
Omg my 15-yr reunion is also supposed to be this summer. I don't think it's happening, but if it is, I am not going. The only way I got thru my 10yr was with large amounts of wine. Also this time around I would feel like Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.
No reunions for me. My 15th was last summer and I had just moved back to the city I group up in. No thanks. I've stayed in touch with the few people from high school that I care about. Everyone else, not interested in seeing.
So yesterday at daycare my 18 month old son pooped in his diaper, then reached in and pulled it out and showed it to the teacher...
How sweet. He can join my daughter in the obnoxious bathroom behavior club (not sure if you remember my complaint about her peeing on the floor at school). Those daycare teachers do not get paid enough.
@marajay6 - Reason #30000 that my 17 monther still wears a crotch-snapped onesie every day. I just don't trust his diaper staying in place without one. I can count the number of times in his life he hasn't had a onesie on (except for sleeping.. which is pretty often in a 2 piece outfit)
Also, a lot of mamas from my Dec14 group have tots who are removing their diapers... I don't have time for that! Onesie for life!
