@annabenanna you could probably attach a poster or wallpaper to a thin wood board or heavy poster board to hang it over the ridges. That way you'd get your cool map and cover those ridges!
Thanks ladies! @kmvisioli and @allison.smith.6212 I am waiting on the poms to come in the mail, then when they do and after I hang them up, I'll tackle the map next!
I also found the most talented mobile maker (i think). I just asked and sent a message asking if she could make me a ship/boat.
Look at her work:
Heck I want that donut one for myself. Hang it in my office. LOL

@annabenanna - is she on etsy? Would you mind sharing her name/store? I'm searching for something with dogs and can't find exactly what I'm looking for...
@LMNOBaby, @serenaxo84@mommabear444, here you go ladies! She's a crafter from Latvia. She's not as pricey as others I've seen. I think it looks like it's worth it though.
@NicholeL16@bnsmith85@ibabyloveb87, I actually didn't get a full on mobile. I just asked for one strand. lol. I figured I just wanted a little plane and cloud amongst the poms I am hanging (still hoping I can do the map background, but waiting to see if it'll look too busy) (she couldn't do a ship. ) His little nursery nook is turning into a "travel" themed nook instead of a nautical one....which is totally A-okay with me!
@LGW2015, i know the hot air balloons look so good!
Ok. The nursery is almost done. DH is going to build the shelves for the closet and paint it white. It feels so good to be done! Who new the nesting need would be so out of control!
We went with a classic Peter Pan theme. Our little boy is due 10/6.
Question for everyone! What light fixtures are you all using? We want to replace ours and am thinking about using a dimmer but i am at a loss for what would look good!
@LGW2015... we have a HIDEOUS white fan in that room right now. I want to replace it with a chandelier but DH is fighting it because he doesn't want to spend the money.
@selena2016 super cute! Gap is doing a Peter Pan line right now for babies with some really cute items!
@LGW2015 We will probably go with a ceiling fan with a dimmer. I love having a dimmer in the nursery because my number one rule when baby wakes is no talking and no bright lights- but you still need to be able to see to change babe and feed babe. I also do a ceiling fan because air circulation is something that can decrease SIDS. I would love to do a cool light fixture or a chandelier if I had a girl but my practicality always wins (and plus also, no girls in my future)!
@LGW2015 We also have a fan with a light, but I haven't thought of putting a dimmer on it... may try that! We also have a little table lamp that offers nice soft lighting.
Re: The mobiles... I'm pretty crafty and I know I could make something cute, like either needle felted or sewn, I just don't wanna. I'm not feeling crafty at all this pregnancy. DH keeps saying "We could MAKE that!" and I just roll my eyes and say "Can we just buuuuuuuy one???" because, although we are both artists, "we can make that" means "you can make that". We got some of these Alice and Wonderland mini Tsum Tsums and are hoping that we can execute an easy DIY mobile with them that doesn't look stupid and cheesy. At least until I'm feeling crafty enough again to make something really cute.
We put up an antler chandelier and I asked DH to add a dimmer yesterday when I realized how bright it was. We will also have a lamp somewhere. @LGW2015
We have a terrible overhead light in the nursery right now. We are planning to buy the same fan as the ones we have in the rest of the house and install it with the lights it has. I'm also going to have a lamp.....somewhere.

We're going to replace the light in the room with a fan and I'll plan to have a lamp with a lower watt light bulb in it to use at night for diaper changes and feedings.

Is it very complicated to add a dimmer? I'm liking that idea for our fan!

DH said its not difficult at all. He said it won't work on fluorescent bulbs so make sure you don't have those in your fan light

They make CFL and LED dimmer switches. They carry them at Home Depot and Lowes. Just make sure you have whatever switch you need for the type of light bulb you're using. You also need to make sure your bulb is dimmable--not all are. We just installed a CFL/LED dimmer on a standard dining room light fixture and it works flawlessly with a dimmable LED bulb. It's simple to swap out the switch, just make sure the breaker is off and hook everything up where you found it.
Thanks @bnsmith85 and @von1976 For some reason I hadn't even thought about adding dimmers, and all this time I have been using my iPhone flashlight for nighttime diaper changes
I want a light period. My house has no lights in the upstairs bedrooms or downstairs living rooms. But an over abundance at the top of the stairs landing, 5, and over 6 in the kitchen ! Idk. What the builder or whoever was thinking, but we are renters and cant just install what we want. I go through so many dollar store night lights because my littles dont like the dark. I need affordable, safe lamp choices right about now, or else the phone flashlight will have to suffice.
@mommabear444 this light is pretty reasonable and you can plug it in the wall and hang from a small hook. Would you be able to do something like this??? Bonus for quick free shipping from Amazon!!!
Before and after from when we bought the house in May of this year to today. I love how it came out and feel a little more prepared for Bean to come. Now just waiting for the shower to put the last minute touches on it.
