Just had my folli/cyst check so I can begin Femara. I had 5 on 1 side and 6 on the other and no cysts. Got the green light to start Femara today- 5mg for 5 days. I thought that once I had this appointment and started the process I would feel better, hopeful, something positive. I don't. I'm really sad for some reason- I guess I am just scared.

I'm sorry to hear about the lack of femara response @madasm0530  :( The last time I had a breakdown about all this was because I didnt respond to femara 5 mg. I ended up taking a second dose of femara CD 17-20 and it actually did grow them. Did you have any follies measuring at all?

Update on me: Went in for my ultrasound yesterday- my lead follicle is 15 mm and it was CD 13.. She told me to come back in on Thursday and we can see where I am to hopefully trigger. Its just a little nerve-racking because last time I was here, my follicles actually shrank back down to 11 mm and I had a melt down :( Here's hoping.

Lots of love to everyone here- @LeFemmeViolette I hope your IUI #3 went great. I 100% relate to what you're saying. It's something else to cross off on the way to IVF. This will be IUI #2 for me and I am really just putting all my 'eggs' in the IVF basket so to speak. I can handle the BFNs from IUI, but I don't know if I can handle them with IVF. I guess we will see.

  • freudianmamma - Does that pricing include meds? Overall, the $11k one sounds pretty good with two transfers based on the prices I have seen. I totally understand how its a hard decision though! Its sad to think that I am super sad whenever my "symptoms" start to go away. What a weird situation we are all going through.  Still, can't give up hope until its official!

@Starlight811- sorry to hear about the cysts! I can't imagine how frustrating it is to get delayed like that. Hope that it goes away ASAP.

@Starlight811 I have been benched since March for cysts and am now looking at potentially having surgery to remove them. I know how hard this struggle can be, especially since there is NOTHING you can do to get rid of them! I'm sorry you are in this position as well, but know that I'm walking that road with you. I hope we both can get on with IUI next cycle.

@paigeed I'm with y'all.  Been on birth control for two months now for the cysts, and I agree it sucks there is nothing to do to get rid of them.  I go in for another check up on the 31st.  I really hope my last cyst has gone so I can do another IUI in June.
  • @paigeed ugh for 2 months!  I feel for you.  I hope it is gone when you go back in there.

So today was my testing day.  I woke up with spotting.  Not a good sign.  I took my test and it was sadly BFN.  I had some hope this month.  My PMS symptoms were not as bad as usual and i was thinking this could be it!  I let myself think about the potential birth date and everything this time.

I think I am just too jacked up in there for the spermies to meet the egg.  I read through my medical records and saw that my diagnosis is endometriosis stage 3.

Good luck to the ladies at the back end of the month!  We are bound to get some positives at some point I just know it!

  • @freudianmamma That sucks :disappointed: Being hopeful is such a double edged sword. It's probably best for the process if we think positively, but it is so devastating when you have all that hope and get another BFN. Hugs to you!

@mmd1986 @paigeed @Starlight811 Those pesky cysts!!!! I hope they resolve soon so you guys can move forward!!!

I had another follie check this morning. Lining was 10mm and I have 3 follies that are good to go (22mm, 19mm, 17mm - one on the left and two on the right). I trigger tonight for IUI 5/27/16, unless my LH is surging and then I go tomorrow. Testing date will be 6/13/16. I hope the stars have aligned this time. This whole process is exhausting!

Good luck to anyone testing or having an IUI soon!

@JamieH2000  I feel very negative during my TWW.  I feel like crap because of the progesterone and even though the RE tells me he'll get us pregnant I can't help but feel like it won't happen for us, which is silly.  I feel much better when I am actively doing something, like blood work, u/s, etc then just sitting and waiting.  It's been one week today since my IUI and the negativity is creeping in.

@wifeinraleigh28 good luck on your IVF journey, I pray it is a short and successful road for you! :)

  • @JamieH2000 Thank you for sharing that article!  It definitely made me crack up!  But the ending still stung, probably because we haven't had success yet.  I swore up and down that I will never announce my pregnancy on social media, and will only share with very close friends and family (and work).  I never want to put other people through what I go through every. single. time I see a pregnancy announcement.  It hurts me too much, and I refuse to do that to anyone else.

  • Well the home test is a BFN. Not surprised given the back cramps that started last night. In full honesty, the grief hit me on the way to work this morning and just had to cry it out since I knew it didn't work this month. I almost just turned around and went home, but need to save my vacation days. Managed to pull it together and get through the day. So at this moment I feel like I grieved this result all day and honestly just want to know how to move on to IVF. I'm not scared of the physical parts of IVF, though it won't be fun, but I'm terrified of it not working since it's really the last option. Since I'm in the unexplained camp with borderline low reserve, I'm just terrified my eggs may just be bad :0(

@wifeinraleigh28- i hear you on not wanting to hurt others for sure. But given that at some point it would come out on Facebook I think, my thought was it will be best to be honest about the full journey so others out there know they aren't alone and there are happy endings (hopefully for us sooner than later!). I definitely wouldn't announce without the full story of the struggle

  • Hi, new to this thread.  I had my second IUI on 5/21...enduring the dreaded tww now. Feeling better about it this month compared to last try, DH specimen was very viscous (in red letters on the report ) even though after manipulation, washing etc it was promising on paper I felt less than confident about it. He seems to be fine with it, this time took Robitussin the week before the IUI with intense coaching and reminding  (aka me nagging). Numbers were way better with less viscosity but still a slight issue. Well wishes to all in this same boat!

What's most frustrating is that if I am not on a medicated/monitored cycle, I'd at least like to be able to try naturally. But obviously not possible while being on BC.  Oh well though.
  •  @mmd1986 I think the being on birth control pills is a mind-boggling part of all this.  It's like even if we wanted to try "naturally" we can't! I already started my birth control cycle for my pre-IVF suppression stage this morning.  One day after my AF came and negative POAS test.  My one friend hints that she is not all that keen on all this "unnatural" stuff and says things like "why do you have to be on birth control pills all the time?"

@JamieH2000 ahhh girl I am sorry to hear about the BFN.  It's a testament to your strength that you were able to put aside your pain and grief and get through the day.  You are a warrior  I have a two friends right now dealing with low reserve and IVF - they are currently waiting for the transfer part right now.  It only takes one little embryo to make the cycle work.

@NurseTMD85 and @roxgibbons thank you for the support.  I for sure feel the grief of it all today.

My RE called yesterday and I reported the at-home BFN.  Then it was rapido speed to coordinate the steps for IVF.  They called in the bc to the pharmacy.  I have the mock embryo transfer next Wednesday.  I have my laproscopic surgery on next Friday to drain the endometrioma.  Then if all looks good, I heard the nurse say I will start stim meds June 10th.  She was talking so fast I might have misheard that.  I am waiting with her email with the protocol.  I guess I should be saying this on the IVF board now.  Bittersweet that we are moving on... Excited and scared as hell at the same time.

  • freudianmamma - thanks for the kind words! I am sure not feeling strong today, but know I will feel better in a few days. That is nice that you are getting to move on to IVF so quickly! I am waiting for my RE call today, and not sure if we will be able to dive right in like you are, or if we need a month off to figure out all the timing and protocol. I'll be joining you on the IVF board once I learn more.

Hoping for BFPs for everyone still in TWW!! I just know someone HAS to get one soon!!

    Back for # 2!
  • I just had my one week post IUI bloodwork and ultrasound done this morning. An hour later I had some bleeding that was pretty red so I doubt it's implantation. I'm on progesterone suppositories 2 times a day... Is it possible AF came a week early?? Or could it be caused by the ultrasound? I hate how this process is always so stressful!
  • Good morning my May IUI ladies I have a quick question....

Does anyone know if a 13mm follie on CD2 (my cycle started Monday night 8/9ish but the nurse said that doesnt count so today is CD2, i thought it was CD3) could mean I have a cyst???

I went in for an u/s this morning and aside from finding more follies than Ive had in almost 2 years, they found the one at 13mm

@wifeinraleigh28 any ideas? I figured id post here because of all the cyst talk :)

Morning ladies! Just left the RE's office - one more IUI and that's it. No dice and we move to IVF. Kind of crazy - I never thought this was the path we would have to take. When will someone start a June IUI board?

  • @ADRIANAC1982 wahoo for all those follies!  are you worried that they are going to make you wait until the potential cyst goes away?  did they say it could be a cyst?

  • @freudianmamma I'm happy you're moving on to IVF and it sounds like they are moving fast! That's awesome!

@JamieH2000 I'm so sorry for your BFN and it sounds like you are putting the right steps in place to move forward.Good Luck with IVF :)

@adrianac1982 That's a lot of follies! I'm not sure if the 13mm could be a cyst necessarily but either way I hope it's not and you can move on with this cycle.

@byerneme when is your IUI scheduled for?

AFM: I just had a follie scan and I have one lead follicle at 24mm so we are triggering today as my nurse said it's mature and ready to go. There were some other little ones at 15mm and 14mm but she wanted to move forward with the big guy. So IUI is scheduled for tomorrow. I have to admit I'm a little bummed as before I responded with like 3 big follies but I was reminded that each cycle is different and that if that one didn't work then we would be more aggressive with meds next time. FX it all works out :)

  • Well, AF has arrived. Not in full force yet, but too much spotting to be implantation bleeding. She'll be here tomorrow. We are no where close to where we need to be to do our first IUI, so looks like we will be jumping on the June board. Last week of June AF should be here again, so I will start Femara then and go in for the IUI mid July. It sucks having to wait another month, but it is what it is I guess. Still waiting and praying for a BFP for some of you ladies.
  • I'm on a train from Salzburg to Budapest right now. I can't believe we haven't had ANY BFPs this month! This is nuts - I figured I'd go on vacation and they'd start rolling in and I'd be missing all of the fun/excitement.

Today is cd11 for me so going to resume the daily opk tests. I've always peed in a cup then dipped the stick... so this is going to be interesting trying to POAS for the first time in a train bathroom! I still haven't completely ruled out doing another IUI, despite the terrible reactions previous times. The thought of doing 'nothing' from now until our IVF appointment on July 18th is killing me. But on the other hand I've physically felt so fantastic this vacation, the thought of voluntarily putting myself through another 1-2 weeks of hell for such low odds just doesn't seem appealing.  Now I'll tell you what does sound appealing right now... an ice cold, crisp, refreshing, delicious Austrian Stiegl Radler grapefruit beer! Have a good Friday, ladies!

  • 3dpiui today. Had some cramping the day after the IUI, but not too bad. I started the progesterone suppositories last night (or as I like to call them- "bloatation devices.") These applicators really help make the process suck less.

Over this long weekend DH and I are painting and paneling our laundry room- a welcomed distraction from the 2WW.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

  • @lefemmeviolette Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

DH and I both have a few days off and came back to our hometowns in Upper Michigan for both our little brothers graduations. It's nice to get dressed up and to take our mind off of things for a weekend.
  • Alright ladies- looks like I am going to squeeze in another May IUI right under the gun! Thanks to a wildly short LP- ha. So I went in yesterday for my follow up ultrasound on CD 16- the good news is I have a mature 23 mm follie! Bad news is my other ones disappeared- largest was a 13- so I've only got this guy to work with. My husband triggered me last night and tomorrow morning I'm going in for IUI #2. I'll catch y'all in the June IUI category for follow up. <3 to all!
