Re: May FET Buddies

  • Welcome @thucks and @Sumo2519!!

I have been reading all of your posts, but I have not had time to post myself! I had a hysterscopy and D&C on Monday and it went pretty well. My doctor found about 4-5 polyps and a thickened endometrium where the placenta had been attached. She took care of all of it and now my uterus is nice and ready for my May 23rd transfer! I have a week left of BCPs and I start my Lupron on Sunday!

  • @takethelongway So glad that your hystero and D&C went well!

@Sumo2519 Welcome! We are a nice bunch!

@2legbaby Fx for you that your embryo's keep growing!! The waiting to get the 5 day results was torturous for me! Hang in there.

@thucks Amazing that you have 11 frozen frosties! Your timeline sounds solid!

@jenn6782 You actually did PIO shots during your mock transfer? Any update on when your FET will be?

@dragonfaerie Are you done with BCP's yet? I am assuming not... I *think* my transfer will be May 12 (one day after yours) but that

@knottie1459820980 Man, tagging you is hard with all those numbers. ;) I bet you are thrilled that you are done with BCP!! When is your FET?

@Tulips29 When will you hear back about your PGS results?

AFM- I am just waiting on my PGS results - I should hear tomorrow. Either way, we have at least 1 PGS normal frozen embryo waiting for us so we decided that no matter what, I would head back to Prague. I leave in 10 days. I'll be there from April 30-May 19... So excited. We are doing a pretty natural FET but I should also hear tomorrow what sort of meds I may be on. I am really pushing for an aggressive reproductive immunology protocol so hopefully my doc agrees!

  • Welcome @Sumo2519! Glad you made your first post in joining this group-having women who know really know what you are going through during this time makes this process much more tolerable!

@takethelongway I am so glad to hear your procedure went well and they got things ready for implantation!

@susykat77 fingers crossed for good news on your PGS testing tomorrow! Do you do well with traveling? I hope that you have a stress free trip!

We still have 11 cleaving embies today! As you said @susykat77 I hate the wait to day 5 for more news....our first cycle we went from 6 to 4 (all PGS abnormal) and second cycle went from 6 to 0 viable between days 2 and 5....hoping my eggs were the culprit and our donors eggs and DH sperm have made us some strong embies. We are doing PGS testing as well (our donor was 36 at time of her ivf) so even when/if we make day 5, still will have some waiting to do....as with all things in this infertility journey....waiting....waiting....more waiting
     lol

I went to the dentist today to get my 6 month cleaning/xrays with the *hope* I wouldn't be able to do my next one ....they replaced three big fillings and then after replacing them said that I two need crowns...I was a little stressed out worrying this would overlap with transfer and not wanting to do anything risky....but also don't want to get pregnant and then need a root canal....I take such good care of my teeth, I am just one of those unfortunate folks who is cavity prone....left a message for RE to get their ok before moving forward....oh and $2500! ouch for two crowns :(

@Knottie1459820980 I hear you on the injections. After a while you'll get used to the symptoms.

this new RE does a short protocol for my FET. I will keep you all posted.

  • @Sumo2519 -welcome to the board :) I think the boards make the days go by a little faster and the more people to follow the better!!

@2legbaby - I found the process of getting the paperwork together and then getting the storage container to the old facility more stressful than anything...I may have went a little crazy because I didn't trust anyone with my little snow angels so me and DH drove the 4 hours to the old clinic to Houston to get them. We stayed in a hotel and had about a 6 hour drive to the new clinic and then a 2 hours drive back home.  OUCH on the dental bill! At least you are getting it all taken care of now.

@takethelongway - I am glad that everything went well on Monday and your body is ready to go! You are almost done with those awful BCPs YAY!

@susykat77 I honeslty don't even know how I ended up with that username or how to change it :( I am so so so happy to be done with those stupid BCPs they got me again last night UGH! I am completely prepared to be sick everyday for 9 months but I do not like being sick because of those things.  My FET is set for May 17th. It sounds like a long time away but I have so much going on between now and then I know the time is going to fly by. Hope you get wonderful results tomorrow!! If you have a choice will you pick the gender or just be surprised?

@WishingforLuck the Lupron doesn't really itch anymore. It is kinda crazy how you just get used to it. I hope that all goes well with the new RE. I know waiting is a bummer, and that is all it is we seem to do. Keep us updated.

AFM- I am finally done with those awful BCPs! So tonight I am going to go ahead and start with my prenatal vitamins, wish me luck those things are known to make you sick LOL.  I am sure most of you are already on them ...my RE wasn't too concerned with me not adding them in yet because I am on a Rx of Folic Acid and have been since January.

@susykat77 fx for good pgs results for you! I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

AFM - got my pgs results yesterday, a week earlier than expected. Out of our 3 embryos, 1 came back normal, 1 abnormal and missing a chromosome, and 1 unknown so we sent it back for another round of pgs. For now, planning to transfer the 1 normal one we have left at this point. Kind of sucks to go from 19 eggs to 1 normal embryo, but I'm going to remain positive and keep thinking that it only takes 1. Praying it all works out! I'm on Estrace now and go back next Friday for my next appointment. If all looks good, then my transfer will be the following week!

  • @Sumo2519 what is your RE recommending? Are you up for multiples? For me and my husband our issue is strictly that I do not have fallopian tubes so the chances of our cycle working are pretty high. We would prefer to have a singleton pregnancy so with those factors in mind we chose to only transfer 1 embryo. Lots of women want to increase their chances as much as possible (which is completely understandable) and transfer multiple embryos. Good luck to you and I hope that helped a little.

  • @Tulips29 your transfer is just around the corner! I am hopeful your retest gives you another normal embryo, but hope that you won't need it!

@Sumo2519 if we get through this week and PGS testing and still have embryos to transfer (FX!!!!), DH and I are going to transfer one only. Generally with PGS testing the rates of implantation are supposed to be much higher (70% I have read in some cases) because chromosomal abnormalities are the main reason for failures/CP/miscarriages. I think it really  depends on how you feel about the possibility of having twins- the risks to them (premature and associated health issues) and risks to you (early bed rest, eclampsia etc) vs the chance of increasing your success....I don't think our RE (based on conversations before our previous failed IVFs) would even allow transfer of 2 PGS tested embryos because of the high risk of  multiples resulting- when is you transfer date? Speak with your RE about your clinic's success rates for PGS tested embies and hopefully it will help you to make your decision

@Knottie1459820980 ha ha! I would totally be with you making that drive with your snowbabies! I can't imagine someone putting them Fedex or UPS or the like!!! BTW I think I have seen others say that if you log into The Knot there is a way to change your name/id to get rid of the crazy #s lol

  • @2legbaby @susykat77 the mock cycle is a complete cycle to see how your body responds to the meds so the doc can see if anything needs to be adjusted.  The RE says this is just another added measure to make sure everything is perfect come transfer day to ensure the highest probability to success.  Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed for you guys for your progress!!

My tentative transfer date will be 5/26!! Seems so far away!! I'm counting down the days!!!
  • Thanks! RE recommends 1, but leaving it up to us to decide.  We don't have a problem with multiples and I have a huge support system.  It's just a lot to sort through: 1 at a time - do we risk thawing issues, so use them both right now; what is it's a bad pregnancy and we don't want to go through it again; and if everything goes well, then we have the benefit of a singleton pregnancy.  Implanting both - living the known pregnancy risks, which could be possible with just 1; I kinda want twins; and ends the questions of when to implant the 2nd embryo.

It's helpful just typing this down instead of thoughts swirling in my head.

  • @Sumo2519 I don't have a recommendation but I'll give you my history. I've never done PGS or PGD. My first IVF was a chemical pregnancy. My second IVF was a BFP 2 5AA embryos were put in and I have 2 gorgeous girls. I had a pretty good pregnancy I worked all the way up to my c-section. I went in to start my weekly appointments and they sent me right over to have the babies. I had preeclampcia at 35 weeks but I had no clue. The girls did not go to NICU and they are very healthy now.
We are working on our 3rd IVF I know we are crazy right. This round we are only putting 1 back in. We really want a boy and even though I know I can do twins I'd rather not 4 kids under 4 right now.

I was just lurking through here as there are quiet some familiar names I got to know through my journey.

Wanted to wish you all good luck on your journey...in Dutch we have a saying: 'In May all birds lay an egg' which means it's a very fertile month! So you girls got this!

As for your protocol @rachnan. Both my FET were just on estrogen and progesterone suppositories (latter is very messy) I had no injections or other medication on top of that.

Again ladies, good luck on your journey! xoxo

  • Hey ladies! I took last week off of posting, had to work on getting myself grounded and feeling back to normal from a kind of rough week. On Thursday, my boss was let go. I will have a job for a few weeks while we shut down this office, and then we decide next steps. They will look for another job for me within the company, but if they can't find one then I will be given a severance. I'm thinking I will probably just take the severance regardless, because I was always planning on quitting once I had a baby anyway, but we'll just have to play it by ear.

I took my last BCP last Wednesday (THANK GOODNESS) and am continuing along with the Lupron. AF showed on Saturday, it's been a fairly standard one, though slightly lighter. Tomorrow I have "FET Day 1" where they will check out everything and approve me starting Estrace and Estradiol. Here we go!!

@kjplaza We have the same protocol but I'm transferring 1 day before you. Are you stopping BCP for a small AF? They have me stopping on the 28th and then start Estrace on the 1st. Is your Estrace oral or suppository? I'm thrown off by this cause I've never taken it orally but that's what my schedule says.

    @dragonfaerie Welcome Back.
@takethelongway  Good luck on your journey.  You are incredibly strong to accept the wait.

    FX for everyone.

    What does AFM stand for?
Had my last lupron shot today.  Shots went great the last 2 weeks, but the last one today bled and I ended up with a little knot and sore belly.  :( and transitioned to 3 minivelle estrogen patches yesterday.  Will increase to 4 patches tomorrow, and will stay with 4 every 72 hours until told otherwise.  I feel like the surge of hormones made me very woozy...The drive to work was just a fog and everything seemed super intense.  Wonder what 4 patches will do?

Thats awesome, I am taking my last BCP today and then go in on Saturday for my baseline US/BW. I am supposed to start estrace on 5/1 my information just says 2mg 3x/day but  it also said PIO 2cc and when i called to order my meds they ordered my suppositories. my clinic is really bad about giving me any information in advance and rarely explain anything unless pushed to explain it so when i pick up my meds on wednesday ill have a better idea of my med protocol.

  • Hey, ladies! I just got my protocol and transfer date today. My FET is scheduled for May 18. I just had my baseline this morning and will start estradiol and minivelle  patches on Friday. Today was my last day of BCPs. Yay! I do have a question... I vaguely remember doing Lupton my last FET. I have a new RE and he only has me taking the above mentioned meds, prednisone, PIO's  and lovenox injections later on.  What does  the Lupton do and should I be concerned that it's not in my protocol this time around? I had a BFN after the fresh cycle. My first FET resulted in a chemical. This is our last chance so...I'm a little anxious
  • @sumo2519 Thank you! AFM = As For Me
@bellt12 Welcome! Did the BCPs make you sick, too? I'm not sure about the Lupron, but there are so many different protocols, I wouldn't worry too much.
@kjplaza Ugh, I'm sorry your folks don't communicate very well! Is there someone you can call and ask for details?

I had my baseline us/bw this morning (I am so sick of new phlebotomists that can't find my veins!) I brought my patches with me so when I get the thumbs up I can start them if they say it's okay. Two weeks away, I'm losing my mind!!

  • @bellt12 Yay we get to be transfer buddy's I also transfer the 18th. I don't know about the Leupron I have only had that for IVF. This is my first FET and all I have is Estrace and PIO shots. Wait I have a little HCG boost in there too. Thursday is my last BCP and I start Estrace on the 1st.

I feel kinda gypped lol. I'm so used to seeing the RE several times and having a baseline done but I don't see the RE until the 9th and my schedule they sent me shows that's the only appointment until the Transfer. My protocol seems to easy for it to actually work. I'm feeling a little worried but I know they know what they are doing right.

  • @thucks I know what you mean! It seems so weird to only have a couple of appointments for the FET And my last appointment is the 5th before my transfer on the 11th. After seeing the doc every day for a week before the ER it feels like they are going to miss something this time.

  • @dragonfaerie the bcp's didn't make me sick but I did experience break through bleeding which had never happened before.

@thucks I guess we can be anxious together! I'm ready for my BFP...As you can see I'm trying to be optimistic this time around.

@dreambig1021 we transfer on the same day... it's really nice to have some supporting other ladies on here that understand the struggle.

How many embabies is everyone transferring. BTW...the teacher in me is saying that my subject/verb agreement is incorrect in the previous sentence but it just sounds right.lol
  • @bellt12 - woo hoo for transfer buddies!! I had breakthrough bleeding this time as well and I've never had that before.

I'm transferring 3 this time around because of 2 failed FETS transferring 2 each time.

  • Good morning all. Quick question: did anyone get stomach cramps from the estrogen? I woke up this morning with them and not sure what's going on. They are up high, rather than low like intestinal or AF cramps. It could be any number of things (dinner didn't agree with me, weird heartburn, etc) but I thought I'd ask.

  • @bellt12 That's lame. :(  We are just going to transfer one embaby. Twins run in my family anyway, and our rockstar embaby is already hatching, so we have a higher chance of twins as it is.
@dreambig1021 I am prepping for my FET in a couple of weeks, so I have the estrace tabs and the estradiol patch that I started yesterday. I'm feeling better now but still just a little twingy in my upper abdomen.

  • @dragonfaerie I started mine last night and no problems, I took them during ER too and didn't seem to have any issues, but everyone responds differently- I know you said you were sensitive to the bcps so it is possible it could be related? (hopefully just indigestion since you have to be on them for a while!)

    Welcome @bellt12  and @dreambig1021 !

@takethelongway -wishing you all the best on your journey and respect that you and DH are taking time to recover financially and emotionally before starting back again

Had my baseline yesterday and they were??? maybe ???? concerned because there was some fluid in my uterus, but hormone levels are fine so plan is to keep on keeping on and recheck ultrasound 5/9.
Got in trouble at work for snapping at my coworkers (who in my defense were lying to my face and not doing their jobs)...hard to explain to management that my ability to control my reactions is slightly hampered by the several different hormones I am pumping into my body + STRESS of this situation   argggggh!

  • @dragonfaerie if it's your upper left kinda under your breasts it's your pancreas.  High estrogen can cause pancreatitis.  I had that when I did my mock cycle.  It gets more uncomfortabl right after eating or drinking anything.  Although it is uncomfortable, usually it goes away on its own.  What I found helped was wearing non wired bra and loose clothing and eating multiple small meals.
