Sierra Sky is finally here! Induction process started early morning 6/3 and she was born at 10:55pm. Weighed 10lb 2oz and 22.5" long. Having a baby is the most surreal, awesome experience of my life, I'm so excited to get to know her!
Team green turned team pink! Matilda Adele finally showed her face on June 1st at 6:47 pm via unplanned c-section after 18 hours of back labour and no progression past 4cm. It was slightly scary to deal with, but everything went well and she is perfect
We did it! Margaret Rose, 8 lbs 11 oz, 20 in long born today 6/5 (same birthday as her dad!) at 9:23am. 30 hours of back labor, no meds (oh how I begged), a double wrapped cord, and a postpartum hemorrhage and somehow we are both doing wonderful. Mmmmm newborn snuggles.
Overdue Isaiah made his debut on June 2, 2016 at 41 weeks. I went in on Thursday, June 2 for a scheduled induction. I was already 3cm dilated for the last five weeks so we expected the vaginal delivery to go as planned. I was started on pitocin at 6:00am and had my water broken close to 8am. Light meconium was present in the fluid but not enough to alarm the doctor. For 9 hours, I was in labor (1 of them without the epidural) and twice, the contractions were so rapid that my son's heartbeat dropped drastically. So the pitocin had to be stopped on two separate occasions. After 9 hours, I dilated to 8cm, and the contractions were ideally spaced apart. Unfortunately, my baby had not moved an inch downward. He was still high in my womb with no movement to drop down. The doctor recommended to move to a C-section, but gave me the option to wait two more hours because he suspected the baby would get stuck. Also, he did not like that the baby's HB dropped twice so drastically - he really didn't think the baby would handle the pushing well, since he was already not moving. I went ahead and opted for the C-section. And voila! He was born at a whopping 8lbs and 4oz. The doctor said he is so glad we moved for a C-section because he truly thinks the baby would have gotten stuck and seriously damaged my vagina. Baby Isaiah had low blood sugar, but he's fine. Later that day, he had to be taken in to the nursery 24/7 because he was found to have high billirubin levels and were escalating. Seems that he was born as a A+ blood type and I'm O+ so it was the hemolysis disease. After 2 days of intensive phototherapy, he has now come home with us! What started off with a calm, quiet baby now is becoming a fussy little boy. I'm a bit stressed because I'm a FTM, but my husband has been so wonderful.
A little late to the game... Due May 18. 3rd baby. Maya was born May 16, 7lbs 9oz 20.5in long. We live 1hr 15 min from the nearest delivery hospital (3min from a hospital if an emergency), as soon as I was certain I was feeling labor pains we hopped in the car. I started timing contractions, they were 4 min and then 3 min apart. I started having piggy back contractions (2 min apart lasting for 1min 30sec) before we were even half way to the hospital. Hubby was speeding We called ahead to hospital as my previous labors were quick (a little over 4 with my 1st, 3hrs with my 2nd). I just kept breathing and didn't acknowledge how far I thought I had progressed because I thought if I admitted it to my hubby and myself I might deliver in the car! Had hubby call l&d again to ask them to meet us at ER door with wheel chair. They were not outside when we arrived so I tried to stand up out of car to walk through the door... bad idea! I tried to get down on my knees on the curb because I wanted to push! Hubby kept me up and breathing through it and got me to the door, nurse met us with wheel chair right at the door. She ran me up to l&d (she sped up after my first contraction and she realized I was seriously done). The Dr hadn't been paged yet... she asked if I wanted to just get onto the bed or of I wanted to change into gown. I said bed! They were trying to get monitor onto me, nurse decided to check me during contraction and broke my water. She turned me onto my side and I started pushing during contraction and could feel I was crowning so I was yelling at nurses. They flipped me back onto my back, I gave two pushes and Maya was born. Only 5 min in the hospital! Hubby came in the room just a few seconds later, he had been parking car! Glad she was healthy and we were in hospital
I guess I'm a June delivering mom but was due in May and only followed here was I the very last overdue mama?! Anyways ... Echo Levi born June 8th at 8:33pm 41 weeks 2days via induction 8 pounds 1.5 ounces 22 inches long! We are exhausted and in love. He is pro at nursing!Birth story and more pics to follow later!
A little late to the party! Gwendolen Maryann was born at 1:48 pm on May 19, 41+1. She was 7lbs 6oz, 20.25 inches long, with long legs and long fingers and a hair color we still can't figure out. Red? Brown? Gold?
I had no labor symptoms at all and had been about 2cm dilated for a month. I went in for my routine checkup on the 18th and found that my BP had spiked. We made the call to start induction that night. DH made his way to the hospital while I was given cervadil at 5:30 pm. I was told it would take 12 hours to dilate me and then we'd start pitocin in the morning.
Well, pitocin was not necessary. The cervadil kicked me straight into active labor. By 12am, contractions were coming fast and furious, 7 in 10 minutes. They finally removed the cervadil at 1:30 am but it didn't slow down much. It was back labor too, as it turned out that Gwen was sunny-side-up.
My doula was there and I held out as long as I could, but the contractions were 2 minutes long with less than a minute between, and I was only 5cm dilated! When the doctor told me he wanted to break my waters to "speed things up a little," I lost my mind and begged for the epidural. A lovely man who looked like Santa Claus gave it to me and lo, it was so, so good. I wanted a natural birth but I can't honestly say I didn't do my best. I just couldn't handle it. God bless modern medicine for providing a safe option when the pain was just too much.
Anyway, things were good after that, got to complete by about 11 am and labored down for an hour or so. Started pushing at noon. After an hour of pushing, the doctor could tell from Gwendolen's head that she was sunny-side-up. We were hoping she would still come out on her own, but suddenly she got stuck and her heart rate tanked every time I pushed. There was no option but to go for the forceps. One pull, 3 pushes and 1 3rd-degree tear later, she was plopped screaming and bloody on my chest, the most beautiful baby I'd ever seen, cone head and all.
It was not in any way the birth I had hoped and prepared for. But thanks to some wonderful nurses and doctors, we both came through in one piece. Recovery for me has been a little rough but Gwen is healthy, happy and perfect. My little butterball. I've never loved anything more..
