Sawyer Hendrix was born this morning at 2:49 am. He weighs 8 lbs 12 oz, and was a crazy 22 in long. He was 41 w 4 days by the time he arrived, but there were no complications and I got the epi-free birth I wanted. I was already 7 cm when we got to the hospital. A few hours of laboring in the tub, and 2.5 hours of pushing and he was here. He's the cutest dang thing I think I've ever seen. Pic to come after more sleep.
Florence May was born on the 23rd of May at 1.50am weighing 6lb 12oz and 19 inches long. I had my first contractions start on the 22nd at 5am but was 30 minutes apart, by 6pm they was 5 mins apart and getting more painful. I rung the hospital to let them know and they said to come in if they get any closer together or if my waters break. By 10pm they was 2/3 minutes apart and the pressure was unbelievably painful, after going to wee I lost my bloody show and we decided to head to the hospital. After I'd been checked and was settled into the birthing centre it turns out I was 5cm and baby was handling the contractions well. I wanted a med free birth hence why I chose the birthing centre as all they offer is gas and air and is a lot more calm and relaxed. My waters broke with a strong contraction at half midnight and I started getting the urge to push soon after. I didn't have any pain relief which I'm so glad as i stuck to my original plan. I had 3rd degree tears which was honestly the most painful thing I've ever been through when the doctor was stitching me up, it took almost an hour as I had tears inside the muscle, on top and also below, I'm really struggling getting around now with the pain of it and hoping it will ease in the next couple of days. We was let home at 12pm this afternoon which was amazing and have been at home relaxing and enjoying her. We all love her soo much.
Introducing Tristan John! Born May 17, 22 inches, 9 pounds, 13 ounces.
On May 16 I was 41 weeks and went in for an u/s to measure his size. All pg, they had been telling me he would be "an average sized-baby" so imagine my surprise when the u/s tech gave the dreaded pause and then said "I need to get someone to confirm this." A second tech came in and confirmed the size: He was measuring 10 pounds, 8 ounces. We went to meet with the doctor and he came in and immediately recommended a c/s, saying it would be "reckless" to even try for a vaginal delivery. We had a conversation about the pros and cons, but ultimately the doctor stuck with his position. He left the room and I crumbled into my husband's arm and cried as hard as I have in a long time; I knew a c/s would always be a possibility, but being that I had a perfectly healthy pg, I never imagined I wouldn't be able to even try for a vaginal delivery. Up until 15 minutes prior to that convo with the doctor, I was 41 weeks and eagerly waiting labor to start! We scheduled the c/s for the next day; I was terrified in the pre-op room and just feeling so sad as I hadn't mentally prepared for what was happening at all. My husband sat next to my side before and during the surgery, and whispered in my ear the whole time, reminding me of our travels and giving me visuals to meditate on from our various experiences together. Then the anesthesiologist said "Look to your right" and there he was--this perfect little boy and everything I was sad about melted away in an instant. I truly still cannot believe the power my little Tristan had in making everything better.
***Edited because I birthed a 9lb-13oz baby, not a 13lb-9oz baby!
Hayley Gwen was born via c/s at 11:24 pm on Friday the 20th at 40 weeks + 1 day. Water broke at 2 am on Friday, went to hospital, stuck at 4cm until I caved for epidural at 4:30pm. Got epidural an hour later, then progressed to 5cm when checked at 8pm... abd then went back to 4. Dr recommended a c-section, was honestly baffled at how weird this was going and I trust her opinion, so we went with it.
Turns out, Hayley was turned just off kilter abd her head managed to smash repeatedly into a particular part of my cervix causing it to swell (andhusbreturn to 4 cm) ... also she was 9lbs and a whopping 22" - something the nurses here never tire of saying.
She's strong, loud, and perfect and so worth the fact that I am still at the hospital, with feet the width of a city bus and some strange gastric intentional pains.
Baby Charlotte was born May 17, 2016 at 11:26 pm after a brief and unmediated labor and delivery. She was 8 lb. 3 oz. and 19 inches long. It was the most painful experience of my life even though she came out extremely fast. We are so relieved she is finally here- healthy and beautiful!
Team Green turned Blue!! Lincoln Adam was born May 19th at 2am on the dot. 7lb 11oz 21.5 inches long. 39 weeks +1. Labour was extremely fast and intense. The entire ordeal was just shy of 3 hours. First contraction came on May 18th just past 11pm. There was no warning...they were coming 2-3 mins apart right from the get go and extremely intense. I called my midwife after 30 mins, and we decided to head to hospital. We got to hospital around midnight, was checked and was 9.5cm dilated! No epidural for me. Water broke right before pushing began. Pushed for 35 mins and out came Lincoln! It was by far the most terrifying and painful experience of my life, but of course he was worth all of it! Due to the very fast labour we had some complications with his fast breathing and needed to stay and be monitored for 2 nights. We are now home and over the moon happy with our little guy
Dylan Richard was born via RCS May 23rd at 8:50 am. He is 7lbs 12oz and 20 inches long...which is exactly what his big sister was when she was born.
I'm recovering great...all IVs and catheter out by 5pm and was up going to bathroom and walking by 8pm.
Dylan was born in distress and had trouble getting his fluids out. No nicu yet but they're closely monitoring him for his breathing and grunting. We are so happy and in love.
Ogden Chester was born 5/23 at 3:29 am! Saturday night (5/21) we took DS1 to see a movie and I started having sporadic contractions that were fairly intense. Last time my water just broke so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the difference between those and everything else I'd felt prior was very clear!
Because they were so sporadic I decided to sleep on it but Sunday they were about 12 min apart and not stopping. So my parents picked up DS1 and dogs. Got under 10 min apart and so midwife suggested lots of walking. Walked around the block about three times brought us to every 5-6 min apart. MW also suggested a shower and we got to 3-4 min apart. She suggested we keep laboring at home but my doula didn't start working until I got in the hospital so we went in. Walked around for about an hour and got checked - only 1 cm dialated! Very disappointing. However we kept walking and using a birth ball. Things got intense quickly and within 2 more hours I was at 7. After getting checked I had a contraction that broke my water. From there it was 2.5 more hours of super intense contractions, 30 min of pushing and he was out! The nurses were all surprised he came so quickly. I had a 2nd degree tear but for a med-free VBAC I am very content with that!!!
Gia Annalisa was finally born yesterday, 5/24 at 6:51am (41 weeks)! She weighs 7 lbs 7 oz and is 20 inches long. She is the perfect mixture of her brother and sister and we are all completely in love with her!
Ainsley Odette was born Saturday, May 21st after a trip to the hospital with a police escort (DH got pulled over for speeding) and a much quicker labor than I was anticipating. She is the light and love of our lives!
It's a girl!!! I went in the evening of 5/18 for a scheduled induction. Apparently I was having contractions through the night but couldn't feel anything. My water broke at about 6 in the morning and contractions got intense really fast. I labored for a few hours before getting an epidural. I could feel the contractions continuing and when the nurse went to check me to see if they should start pitocin I was at 10 cm. I could still feel contraction pressure which helped with pushing and our baby girl arrived at 12:14 pm on 5/19
Brynn Marie was born at 5:02 pm on May 19th. She was 6 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long. She had to stay in the NICU for oxygen monitoring the entire time we were there, but it was just precautionary after the first day and she is doing great now! She is such a good baby and we couldn't be any more over the moon in love with her!
After a 30 hour long failed induction, Axel was born via c-section on May 25 at 39 weeks. Could not be more in love life is but a dream. 6 pounds 6 ounces!
Titus Jackson has FINALLY made his arrival. Nothing about his birth went right. He was late (41+4), I had three days of failed induction attempts with the gel. I was at two cm for more than a week and that didn't change even through a fourth day with oxytocin and having my water broke. Finally the doctors decided to label it a failed induction and sent me in to the OR for c-section. he was born at 6:27 pm on May 25th and weighed 8lbs 9oz, 21.5 inches long and is a champion and natural at breast feeding. He is so perfect and we are so in love!
Kirra Lea was born May 26 at 1:18 am after an almost 50 hour induction. My water broke "on its own" after two nights of Cervidil, one day of pitocin and one day of two separate doses of cytotech. My mom, SO, and MIL were in the room and heard the pop of the water. I was immediately in excruciating pain and each contraction was longer and way more intense than the last. After almost an hour of that I finally was able to get the epidural because I had to get a bag of fluids and the last round of penicillin in me and it was immediate relief! From around 5 pm to 10 pm I went from 2 cm to 10 cm. I began pushing at 12:30 am and Kirra was here at 1:18 am! Her daddy cried for the first time I've ever seen when she arrived and he's been stuck to her since. Pictures to come but TB app hates me so it isn't working.
Carmen Rosalie was born on May 22 (39+5) after an uncomplicated but slow 30 hour labor. She was born 6lbs 12oz, 19" long, with a full head of hair. We love her to pieces!
Maxwell Lee was born on May 26 at 12:41 pm. 7 lbs 13 oz and 20.5' long. We are amazed by him!
Birth story: went in for a midnight induction, was at 4.5, so they didn't want to start anything until 4:30 am because they didn't we to miss my dr. At 4:30 they started pitocin and my pain management plan was to "go with the flow". Starting at 9:30, I was throwing up after each contraction, so I asked for the epi. I felt good in my ability that I could have made it without. When I noticed a lot of my motives to go without were a little silly, I got the epi. It. Was. Heaven. I got to rest!
I was complete around noon, but just relaxed and waiting. I pushed for 5 mins and baby Max was born! I couldn't have asked for a much better delivery or little boy. He is awesome!!!
Introducing Madeleine Beatrice born 5/25/16 via CS at 4:20 PM. Just a little peanut at 6lbs 6oz. Trying to make up for her small size by cluster feeding hence the 1:40AM announcement. Still, so in love with her.
Julia was born May 26th following 53 hours of induction, labor, and finally a c-section. At 40+4, she weighed in at 6lbs 6oz and 20 inches. She has a small laceration on her face from the c-section but should heal up with no problems. Nursing going pretty well thanks to the hospital LCs!
Madelyn Rose was born on Friday the 13th at 38+2 6lbs 9oz and 19 inches. After weeks of a constant headache and protien in my urine but no high blood pressure, my blood pressure was high at my 38 week apt on Wednesday so off to L&D we went for induction. They started me on magnesium to prevent seizures and at 430pm on cervadil that got me to 4 by 9pm I labored till Thursday morning only to 5 so they started pitocin made it to 7 in the afternoon but 11pm Thursday I only made it to 8 with severe contractions almost on top of each other I was shaking uncontrollably after every one so I got the epi. I slept for a few hours and they broke my water Friday around 11am at 9 cm in hopes I would push me to ten to deliver. Unfortunately it didnt and I actually went back to 8 after the pressure from my water was released. At 145pm the baby was not handling labor well anymore and I was prepped for a csection. I went in and could feel everything and they tried an epi bolster with no luck so they put me under and at 227pm my baby girl was born and handed over to daddy for skin to skin while they patched and woke me up. Turns out she was stuck in my pelvis and had a huge bruise and black eye when she came out it was gone a few hours later. It was the complete opposite to the t of what I wanted for her birth but she and I are healthy and she is amazing and totally worth it all.
Anna Lynnette made her appearance at 12:42pm. She is 7lbs 6oz and 20in long. We were hoping for a home birth, but we got more than we asked for lol Anna was in such a rush to come that DH ended up delivering her about 30 minutes before the midwife made it to the house. She took her dear sweet time deciding to come, I was 41+2 today, but when she was ready then she was READY. I had started having some mild contractions at about 6am that were slowly getting stronger and closer throughout the day, but even just minutes before she was born I was still convinced that we had hours to go. I was in complete denial that I was as far as I was, I expected the midwife to show up and to be maybe a 6, but probably closer to a 4. Oops. Even with how fast she came, we're both doing fantastic. No tears or anything which really shocked me. Absolutely crazy day, but we wouldn't change it for anything. Can't wait for DS to meet her in the morning
Francine was born May 26 at 853 pm at 41w + 3d via an induction but otherwise natural birth. Ours was the first our hospital nurses had attended with a doula, and the first requested natural birth they had had. They are treating us like unicorns in the hospital, but the fact is, even with pitocin a birth without pain meds was totally doable. Just when the surges got intense and I wanted to give up, it was time to push, and i only had to push for about 10 minutes. Just a tiny tear, no stitches required, and we changed a lot of minds at the hospital. So glad I chose a doula, hypnobirthing, and a natural birth, even though induction wasn't part pf the plan, and stuck with it. What an amazing, empowering experience and I have a healthy, beautiful baby.
Grace Octavia , born on May 27 (40+1) at 7:51am. she is 7lbs 14oz and 20 inches long! She spent most of yesterday wide eyed and intrigued by the world! This picture was after her first bath so she was all cozy;) Can't wait for a second day with my sweet baby girl!!
Samuel Martin was born May 25th at 7:03 am, 40+1. 7lb 11oz, 21.5 inches. I had been having painless contractions in the evenings for about a week that never went anywhere so after a couple of hours of those on his due date I figured it was another false alarm and went to bed. I woke up to pee at 2am and my water broke! Even though I had been 4 cm and 90% effaced at my last appointment I figured it would take awhile for him to get here. I was gbs+ so we had to head to the hospital right away for antibiotics and I'm glad we did! The hospital is about an hour away and by the time we got there I was in transition. They got one dose of antibiotics in me and then my midwife checked and I was already 10cm and he was +1. Pushed for an hour and a half and he was here! 5 hours from start to finish and unmedicated like I had hoped for. He has his daddy's red hair and he loved to snuggle.
Sophia Rose was born at 1:44 AM on 5/27 at 39w5d. Honestly I still kind of feel like everything is kind of a blur. There were some worrying moments where her heart rate started to decel first because my contractions were coming so fast and furious before I finally got an epidural and again the first time I tried pushing, so I labored down for a couple hours. I pushed for an hour and 15 minutes before Sophia made her grand entrance at 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long.
Cameron Glen was born at 3:01 p.m. on Thursday 5/26/16 after a 2.5 hour labor, weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 20 inches. I had some pretty scary complications, but I am doing much better now. He's perfect! Birth story to follow.
Eden Layne born May 9th at 40w +5. despite frequent and long contractions during the day, I had only dilated to 1cm. When night shift arrived, we had a prolonged contraction with a small decel and minimal variability. By the time My Doc arrived her variability perked up, but within a few minutes it was back to minimal which was concerning. Luckily my Doctor had stayed to monitor me and we agreed that there was a slim to none chance of me making it to 10 without my baby being distressed. So much for unmedicated birth. C/S went smoothly and I cried tears of joy the second I heard my baby. We were safe and healthy. She ended up being a very buff 9lbs.
I'm a little late because our internet at the house isn't working...
Thor Raynor was born May 27 at 9:54am. He weighed 7lb9oz and is 20.25". I'm not totally sure how long I was in actual labor. My water broke at home, by the time we got to the hospital (almost three hours later) I was fully dilated and he was at station +2. He was here less than two hours later! Birthr story to come.
Henry Ryan was born 5/26 at 7:28 am via RCS. He weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz and was 20" long. No VBAC due to him bring breech, then when I went in for a version, they found very little amniotic fluid (should be 5-25 cm, I had around 4). They didn't get the epidural on the first try and had to call someone else, then he was born feet first and his head got stuck, but otherwise Henry and mom are healthy and glad to be home. Big sister is in love with her "Bubby."
Congratulations!! Look at that full head of hair too. My baby weighed the same as your baby, 6 pounds 1 Oz. I couldn't believe how tiny she was, even after being post term (I was induced). Enjoy this magical moment of yours.
Azro Nathan was born by unplanned c-section at 6:45 pm on 5/4(after 6 hours of close and strong contractions) He weighed 6 lb .6 oz and was 19 inches long. We are elated! Sorry this is so late, mommy hood has been crazy xD
Angus Francis born on May 31st at 9:05pm - was just able to squeak in and stay in the May club, weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 8oz (I was on the high end of normal for fluid so we were all really shocked when he came out so big).
My waters started to leak Monday night at 7pm, no contractions. My midwife said she would let me go up to 48hours (but we would likely induce at 36hrs if contractions didn't start on their own). The next morning I tried the breast pump to get things going - nothing. Went into the hospital with midwife just to check in and make sure he was still doing ok. He was great very happy, so midwife sent me home to try Castor oil, then if that didn't work we would induce Wednesday am. Came home, slammed some castor oil, had a nap... Was beginning to lose hope, so I hopped in the shower and took a night long hot shower. Contractions finally started at 4pm, laboured at home until 730pm, admitted into the hospital at 8pm, pushed for 4 minutes and out he came! It was a wild experience, very different from my first.
We are slowly adjusting to a family of 4 now, and our so thrilled that our little dude is finally here.
Ms Natalie is finally here! 8bs 3 oz. And 20.5in long. On 6.1.16. EDD was 5/27. Was scheduled for induction on the 2nd but she wanted to pick her birthday. Went into labor at 12 midnight on the 1st 3cm when we arrived progressed quickly was started on a little pitocin got to 8cm by 13 her HR dropped to 50s. Pitocin was stopped and tried restarting it. After that I didn't dilate anymore and dr discussed c-section. He was worried her head was too big. Then her HR jumped and continued to run high. We decided we wanted to do the c section. SHES HERE HAPPY AND HEALTHY and just a day out of May!
Emma Paige showed up hours before her scheduled induction and over a week late on May 30th at 6:36am. After 30 hours of contractions, all back labour, the epidural was the most amazing thing ever and allowed me to go from 3 to 10cm rapidly. Twenty minutes of pushing later, our baby girl was born. She is so precious and we are having the best time with her.
