On June 5th, I woke up feeling uncomfortable. Then the period type cramps just got worse. I didn't think anything of them at first because j was told true contractions start at the top of the stomach. But then I noticed they were coming In waves so I started timing them. They were 7 mins apart. Then they became 5'mins apart and I noticed pink when I went to the restroom. So I went in to the hospital around 2pm. I was 2-3cm and 80% effaced. So they had me walk around for an hour or so. I became 4 cm and still 8 cm so they just moved me up to the labor floor. I used to jacuzzi tub to help with pains. I didn't want drugs or interventions, and though I came close to giving in... I stuck it out! Finally around 4:50 am my water went Pop!! Haha it was so loud my mom heard it in the hall, she thought I popped that peanut medicine ball in between my legs. I only pushed for 20 mins and then at 5:10 am on 6/6/16 Odin Liam made his debut I had hoped he'd be born on his due date and he was so I was excited. He's 9lb 2oz and 21 inches long. I did need to get some stitches due to tearing, but other than that all is well. He is already the love of my life and the perfect baby. Lots of skin on skin has him so attached to me and I feel blessed.
Carson Robert arrived a few days earlier than expected! 8lbs, 21 inches born 6/6/16 at 1:43 am, 38w6d.
I was all set to have my RCS Wednesday morning but Sunday night, I went to my parents to swim and for dinner. No signs of labor but I was in the pool and noticed I kept peeing myself. I got out to have dinner (steak of course) and half way through had a small contraction, leaned back and that's when my water gushed. We went home, packed our bags (oops), did some laundry, cleaned the bathrooms and made it to the hospital about 2 hours later. I was less than 1 cm and having mild contractions about 5 mins apart. I stuck with my original plan for the RCS and am so glad I did. Recovery has been relatively easy. (And a night and day difference from my CS with DS). Less than 8 hours from my water breaking to being wheeled into the recovery room.
Frank Stanley and Avery Quinn were born on 6/6 at 4:26am and 4:33am weighing 6lbs 15oz and 6lbs 4oz. Induced on 6/5 at 38weeks and very happy to have had a successful induction with a twin vaginal delivery, woohoo! The twins and i are doing great and we are all so in love!!
Bryant Ryker Owen born at 38 weeks, June 6, 2016. 9 lbs 14 ounces, 54cm long. Everything with regards to delivery went great but now it's the second night still here (vaginal delivery) and he's still having some issues. It's completely freaking me out, first his sugars are going everywhere they finally have those under control now it's laboured breathing when I ask the nurses to look I think they I'm over reacting I'm not!!!!!!! Anyways just freaking out I can't calm myself down. I'll post photos later.
Preston Michael, 8 lbs 9oz, 20in, born 6/9/16 3:16am. Labor started at 2 pm after I had had a sweep done and got closer together up to 3-5 min apart by midnight so we head off to the birth center. I was 100% effaced but only 2cm (at the appt I was 0% and less than 1cm).. went home to labor in water. After about an hour in the tub it got very intense and I got out cause I thought I had to poop..... it was not poop. My body started pushing and I could hear the midwife saying "GET HER IN THE CAR NOW. THERES STILL TIME!". They got me in the car where I help my legs together until the 15 min ride to the center was done. I lay down to get checked and she goes "omg there's the head". He was born about 10-15 min after we arrived! Close call and I didn't get the birth I want but he's perfect!
Madelyn Sarah was born on June 6 at 8:35 pm - 19.5" and 7lbs 7oz. I went into L&D for monitoring that morning because I stopped feeling fetal movements, and it turns out I had no amniotic fluid left (but water had not broken). I was admitted and induced, and everything went quickly.
Calvin David was born June 9 at 5:06 pm (41 weeks, 1 day). 8 lb, 6 oz, 21 1/4 inches long. He aspirated meconium during the 20 hours of labor/4 hours of pushing, was born with the cord around his neck, and had to be moved to a NICU at another hospital. He's strong and doing better, but we will likely have to wait a week to bring him home. We could not be more in love.
Jordan Danielle born 6/8/16 @ 10:51 am 5lbs13oz 19.25in long. I was scheduled to be induced due to growth restriction. I was admitted at 11:30 pm on 6/7 and as soon as the monitors were put on they immediately put me on IV because baby's heart rate was crazy high. They assumed I was dehydrated and the position I was sitting. Heart rate eventually dropped and they started the pitocin. The contractions came pretty quick and then it changed where babies heart rate would drop low with each contraction. So my night consisted of being moved around from side to side to different positions. I got an epi and my water was eventually ruptured. They ended up putting the contraction monitor and the fetal heart rate monitor vaginaly because they were having a hard time getting good reads. pitocin was stopped as I was progressing myself. I did 4 push sessions and baby was out. She had a hard time keeping her temp up but they allowed for skin to skin. They put her under the heat lamps for a while and then decided she needed to go to the nursery for a bit. She was finally able to maintain her temp. She also has slightly elevated bilirubin levels but we were discharged today with the contingency that we would see the pedi Saturday morning which lucky us they are open. Hopefully her levels are normal tomorrow but other than that everything is great!
Cameron John arrived with a fury by emergency c section June 10th at 8:44 pm. He weighed in at 7lbs 3oz and was 20.5inches long. We are so happy to have him here safely!!! I will post an actual birth story later.
ETA: I was 40+4 but the pediatrician thought he might actually be in the 38 week gestation.
Grant Joseph was born June 9th (38w5d) and came in at a whopping 9lbs15oz (weighed after a poop and two pees). He's getting a little help with breathing and is under bilirubin lights but is doing well.
Audrielle June was born on June 6th at 8:11 am at 38 weeks +5 days. She weighed in at 7 lbs 6 oz and 20.5 inches in length. She has the most beautiful full head of brown hair and is doing so well. Sunday evening I decided to take a nap because my back was killing me. I woke up and got out of bed and thought I felt my water break, but wasn't sure if it was a false alarm. Called my ob and she wanted me to go in to get checked since I was GBS+ and would need antibiotics immediately if it was. At the hospital they checked and sure enough my water had broken! I just started to get very mild menstrual like cramps and pains in my back, but no regular contractions, so after 2 hours of waiting to see if my body would progress on its own, we decided to start pitocin. I was at 0 cm at about 1:30am, checked again at 4 am and was 2.5cm, and was fully dilated by 6 am. Back labor hit me so hard out of nowhere that I decided to get an epidural at 2am. My body was uncontrollably shaking and I was throwing up because it all progessed so fast. Thank goodness for the epidural! At 6 am even the ob was shocked that I was fully dilated already. She wanted me to sit more upright in bed for a bit to help move her down to 0 station. By 7:44, they had me pushing and by 8:11 she was here!! She is perfectly healthy and had no complications and we are so blessed. My only complication was that my foot didn't recover for a day after delivery from what we initially thought was the epidural. I couldn't walk and had to be carted to the washroom, talk about frustrating! Turns out I pinched a nerve in my leg during pushing and all was well by day 2 of recovery. So in love with my little sweet Audrielle.
Our little Adalynn was born yesterday, 6/11/16, at 2:46 p.m. I was 40w2d and had gone into labor on 6/11 around 12:30 a.m. about 14 hours after having my membranes stripped. I had an epidural at 5 a.m., slept until 9, started pushing at 11:45 and she was here by 2:46! She is perfect in every way and I feel so blessed and lucky right now. The pediatrician just saw her and said that he feels comfortable discharging her today!
After three days of agonizing prodomal labor I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, our beautiful William George came into this world. Had an epidural which gave me the ability to rest for four hours before the hard work of pushing. My blood pressure went wonky during that time, which put our poor baby boy under some stress. My water broke on it's own, and when it did, my midwife immediately called the NICU unit because she noted that there was a ton of meconium in it. After a half hour or so of pushing, he shot out of me with one push and aspirated some meconium. His cord was wrapped around his neck and he was having trouble breathing, so they whisked him off to the NICU. Very disappointed that we didn't get our skin to skin and had to wait almost 12 hours to hold him, but the good news is he's progressing in the right direction and we're hoping he'll be able to leave the hospital with us. Born 6:01 am 6/12/16, 8lbs3oz
Norah Faye was born June 12th at 11:03pm via induction at 40+4. It was a fast labor and an even faster and easier delivery. I had third degree tearing with my first and this time is just scrapes that ended with 2 stitches.
Baby girl is 6 lbs 14 ounces and 18 3/4 inches long (short like her momma!) she has a full head of hair!
Wyatt James was born 6/13 at 2:09 after 58 hours of labor at 41w4d . I was able to complete 50 hours all natural and then stalled at 8 cm and needed an epidural to sleep. Finally after 5.5 hours of resting and laboring with an epidural and 2.5 hours of pushing our 9 lb 8 oz boy came into this world. Don't mind the bruise from getting stuck on my pelvic bone
Sydney Gette 7lbs 4oz 20" born 6/13/16 via RCS Smooth delivery and recovery!
She he stole our hearts immediately! Big brother wasn't allowed come visit due to hospital regulations and the spread of RSV. Looking forward to go home today and have him meet his baby sister.
Kian Alen was born 6/14 at 11:30 Am via an unplanned c section. He is 9 pounds and 20 inches
i started with cervadil on Monday with 1 cm dilatedto get labor started and the second dosis kicked everything into gear, was having major painful contractions and got some pain meds which made me feel great for only half an hour asked for epidural at 7 am Tuesday morning and was dilated to 4 cm. Epidural felt so good omg it's amazing ! I quicklymwent to 6 cm an hour later and they broke my water. At 11 am they checked and I was fully dilated. Unfortunately baby was stuck behind my cervix and his heart rate kept dropping decision was made to do a c section which was fine by me, I did not came to the hospital with any birthing plans or expectations other then having a heathy baby.
baby and mommy are doing fine and super in love ❤️❤️
Jackson Ronald born June 14 at 8:17am, weighing 6lb 2oz & measuring 19 1/4 inches long. He came into the world via scheduled c-section, & is the absolute greatest thing to ever happen to my life!
Miles Patrick was born June 12 at 10:02 pm via emergent c-section. 8lbs, 4 oz and 22 in long, a fairly big man for 4 days early. Ineffective hip labor followed by scary low heart rates during random contractions made 11 hours laboring in the hospital enough for the OB to push me into the OR. Miles got out safely, so I can't say I'd change a thing.
Team green became team pink!! Gwenyth Georgia was born the day ahead of her scheduled Csection after my water broke. June 13th, 6lbs 12oz and absolutely perfect
After careful consideration with my doctor, the three of us decided to induce beginning the evening of 6-13-16. We started with cytotec a cervical ripener at 8:30pm. Overall, Natalie did not respond well and we spent all evening with a very patient nurse moving positions, taking oxygen, and moving location of fetal monitors. Part of the problem is that Natalie was stuck on my right side and was uninterested in leaving for labor.
We skipped my second dose of cytotec that was planned and started an hour early with pitocin. Honestly, we both did fine slowly moving up my dose as my doctor really did focus on trying to progress labor carefully. I got to 1cm dilated and a pitocin dose of 18 before my water was broken at 8:10am. I was very concerned that my labor would be fast and furious but it remained tolerable for another 2 hours until I because uncomfortable and opted for my epidural, which was always the plan to have one. My only goal was if it wasn't too painful to try to labor to 4cm since my doctor told me that was the longest hardest part and would go faster pre epidural but not really to worry about it get the epidural as soon as I felt I needed it. My anaesthesiologist was awesome and I called while I was still friendly and happy. Other than a quick moment of vasovagal from stress let down as she finished up, her work all was perfect. I did not pass out just needed to lay down.
I labored another several hours but honestly was so tired from being up all night before and meds as I am very sensitive to sleepiness with pain meds, Jake and I were in and out of sleep till 2:30ish when my doctor came. He did not like the lack of progression in my labor but said I did have another 16 hour available if I wanted to labor he would support me but the fact that the cervix had not changed from 1cm with pitocin contractions and the baby who was known to be low, should be progressing the cervix but nothing was changing. he did not like the situation and wanted me to know it may end in a c-section anyway and wanted to prepare me for that outcome in advance. He left to let Jake and I chat when about 20 -30 min later he bounded back in nurse hot on his heals to say heart rate was dropping and he was calling c-section.something was wrong with cord or position and she was in distress after contractions, not during.
We bumped a scheduled c-section and about 10min later I was prepped and ready to go. She came out screaming which we were so glad for but she was grey and the team stopped a second so I could see her before they went into the other room to get through all the new baby protocol. Turns out she was wedged with her head going obliquely into my pelvis not the cervix. No amount of labor was going to move her and my cervix was never going to dilate with contractions but no pressure from her. So we saved me another 16hours of labor for the same result.
I began the process of getting sewed up and my husband looked after natalie. Apparently, she was fine with getting the vitamin K shot but Hated getting footprints done. Go figure. Then she became a baby burrito and joined me with her father in the OR as I got stitched up.
My mom and dad stopped by briefly after her delivery and got a meet and great with their grandchild and dinner for the poor guy doing everything, my husband. I began the first of many sleep crashes as the nursing staff got my husband ready to take care of Natalie. He has been amazing and the MVP of this labor and delivery.
Only really intense moment for me was that when I got my surgery bolus on my epidural, the liquid went high and I was completely Numb and not able to move from C6 down. For non medical, this meant I had no working arms or legs at one point. Luckily, my left arm came back in surgery and my right arm came back with my legs several hours later. But interestingly, one spinal level at a time. So at one point when trying to breastfeed I could bend my elbow but not straight it. This led to a very interesting exchange with me, my nurse, And my husband all trying to get Natalie skin on skin and breast feeding once back in room.
Cole Andrew was born 6/15/16 at 7:08pm. 7lbs 7oz, 21" long.
After having my membrane sweep on Monday, 6/13 I started having mild contractions. By Tuesday evening, 6/14, they were about 7 minutes apart, by 1am 5 minutes apart so we went to the hospital. After hours of contractions it was finally time to push. Less than 1 hour later, my stargazer, as the doctor called him was born (he was sunny side up).
Joseph Paul was born on June 12th at 5:38 PM. 6 lb 8 oz. 39w3d. I was in labor for 16 hours. I lost both my mucus plug and the "bloody show" the afternoon before. BH increased in strength and intensity immediately afterwards. I started getting contractions 1:30 that morning. By 6 AM, my contractions were 5 minutes apart. Once I went to L&D, they confirmed my contractions were 3.5 minutes apart and I was 3 cm dilated. I began the epidural by 2 PM that day. They decided to break my water by 4 PM. Somewhere around then, the doctor saw I was fully dilated. I pushed for 45 minutes and before anything could set in, my little miracle was here. My husband made me laugh at how stoic or maybe in shock he was the whole time. I couldn't have asked for a better staff and support person. I'm totally smitten with this child.
William Vittorio, born 6/14 @ 7:23pm. 8lbs, 11.4oz, 20.75" long, and a full head of dark hair (the first dark head in our family!). Born at 39 weeks, 2 days. We are in love with that face! He's such a cool baby already.
At my 38 week visit on 6/7, I was only 1cm dilated, and barely effaced. I started having period-like cramps from Thursday 6/9 on, and was super crampy on Monday, 6/13. I couldn't get in to see my OB, so his nurse told me to get checked out in L&D. I was only 2cm and 75% effaced, so they sent me home. My 3 year-old woke me up around 4:30am on Tuesday from a bad dream, and I realized I was having what felt like my BH, but with a little pain stemming from the cervix upward. I went back to sleep, but kept getting woken up with the little pains every 15 or 20 minutes. I finally woke up for good at 9am to find the pains were a tad more intense, but totally manageable. My 39 week appointment was that afternoon. I went in at 1:20pm with much more intense pains coming every 6-5 minutes. My doctor checked me, and I was still 2cm dilated, and 80% effaced. He said this was false labor, even though the contractions were super intense. I was ordered to walk around and come back when either my water broke, or the pain was super unbearable, but he felt I still wouldn't go into labor until at least that weekend or the following week. I got home around 2pm, and the contractions were 3 minutes apart and so intense, I couldn't stand up, so I laid down, and tried to rest between them. I was home alone, with a 3 year-old and laboring as quietly as possible through his nap. By 4:35pm, the contractions were 1 minute apart, and completely unbearable. I called my husband and told him to take me to L&D. I got checked in, and was 9cm dilated and fully effaced!!! 1 hour and 1 minute after checking in, my water broke, and William's head popped into the birth canal. One big push, and he was out!!! When my OB checked on me in recovery, he just couldn't believe it! He didn't even have time to make the delivery, so the baby was delivered by the on-call doc! So, I hope the rest of you ladies awaiting your labor have a short and easy one. And if not, my thoughts are with you. I've had both kinds.
Seth Henry Blair arrived exactly on his due date, 6.17.16 at 1:45 pm after 20 hours of active labor, 4 hours of pushing, and a c-section. He is 8 pounds 6 ounces, 20 inches, with blue eyes and almost an inch of jet black hair!

I never knew I could love someone this much.
