I called the wait list place. They have an opening. I visited and did the registration/paid registration fee. We have a spot there held for us. I'm so glad we actually have options now. It's still close to work and I could still visit her during lunch if I wanted. It seemed a bit more laid back than the smoky place from the tour, which I'm not sure if I liked (hard to say I guess, we really need to visit both places back to back when it gets closer), however, this place is less expensive and has a part time option. We plan on sending her only three days per week at smoky place even though we would have to pay full time, so paying part time for part time is a huge plus.

YAYAYAY!
Fantastic!! So glad that worked out! Keeping FX the place turns out to be great on your next visit!
So happy for you to have gotten a spot for baby. I read the thread the other day before it got entertaining, and thank you ladies for the last 20 minutes of entertainment in my life
In all seriousness though- I worked at a daycare/preschool and one of our directors smoked. Our infant and 12-18 month teachers weren't allowed to- written into their contract. Too much constant holding, up close interaction. The director who smoked would occasionally have to help out in the infant room, but more often than not when it was needed for ratio work, she would come into my class (3.5-4, and then 4-5/5.5 prek) and would watch/teach my class while I went and hung with the infants since I wasn't a smoker. They might not realize how they smell, but they're usually pretty good about being aware about second and third hand smoke.
Fingers crossed that the place you got on the wait list is the right fit for you and that it all works out!!
