Just saying its a pretty strong accusation. As we get closer to our due dates, everything down there gets more and more sensitive. I would be very cautious accusing any health care provider of anything ananomously online unless I talked to them first.
Having SEVERE lower back pain and menstrual like cramping. I was perfectly fine a few hours ago and now I'm a prisoner to my couch. No BH or contractions at all. Could this be a sign of pre-labor? And if so, how pre?!
Oh my! I have no experience so can't comment, but wondering whether today's the day? If I remember correctly you are at term, right?
I'm 38 weeks 4 days I'm wondering if it could potentially be back labor? I'm feeling the pain in waves, right now 10-11 min apart that I literally have to breathe through.
@mrsmtothek Since I didn't go into labor on my own with DD1, I can't say for sure, but coming in "waves" sounds like it could very well be the start of something...! And as far as back labor, if you didn't have "unusual for being 9 months pregnant" back pain previously, it is likely just typical labor pains. The uterus connects to the lower back, on either side of the spine, so a good amount of back pain is to be expected. Do you have a lacrosse ball, or something similar like a tennis ball? If you do, try and get YH to use deep tissue action against it. I have one packed in my hospital bag for this very purpose. Or even if you don't, if he makes a fist and uses it against your back in a similar way it can help. Also, warm bath if you can!!! Excited for you, LO may be coming!!
TMI Warning....Some what in a panic. I just got up and felt this let down feeling like if I was on a period. Made it to the restroom before it got on anything (I was like 3ft away). I then see this brownish liquidy and a bit stringy stuff on toilet paper. Laying down to see if it stops and I hope it's just discharge with old blood from my cervical check. This can't happen at 35 wks! Baby is wiggling as usual.
Sounds like mucous plug! Good luck, can't be too far from labor now.

I guess the waves are suspicious for labor... Maybe call L&D and run it by them! Maybe today is baby day!!!!

...because someone is TOTALLY going to admit that they performed a procedure without your consent to your face.
A lot of people get membrane sweeps without realizing it. Even the nurses will admit that doctors will do it without saying anything to get things moving. It's not ok and it makes me furious that any doctor would do something like that without permission.
Edit: Also, I said that "I think" that's what she did based on what happened during and after the pelvic exam. I don't know if my cervix was just freaked out or if she did do a sweep.
On labor watch. Went in for my usual NST and doc appointment. 2 cm still but crazy and intense contractions and back pain. Ob says there is a chance things can happen tonight. If not by tomorrow LO better stay put till next sat since doc will be on vacation.
Sent home because I'm not dilated at ALL still. I'm almost completely effaced, though, and nearly at 0 station - the nurse said my cervix felt like it was just going to pop open very soon. So I'm home and still contracting ever 10 minutes or so They said I did the right thing coming in, though, which was very reassuring. And the nurse said she was pretty sure it wouldn't be long now!

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who got sent home today.
35 weeks and having a scheduled csection on April 21st. I spent my day in l&d with a closed cervix and contractions every 2-3 minutes for 6 hours. 2 bags of iv fluids and a dose of Procardia later I am finally going home ! The Procardia has made me feel completely awful and not being able to eat or drink anything for 9 hours was torture, but hopefully I can get this little dude to hang in there for at least 2 more weeks.
I'm officially scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks...will go to the hospital the evening of 3/31 so they can get me started dilating overnight and then start the contractions the next morning. The doc I saw yesterday said she wasn't optimistic about me going into labor on my own before then. I had high BP prior to pregnancy and have been medicated the whole time. It's been totally under control but she explained that in my specific situation after 39 weeks the risks start to outweigh the benefits of trying to keep baby in there until 40. I'm a bit bummed because this wasn't exactly what I visualized and I know it increases my risk of needing a C section but I trust her recommendation and no matter the method I get a baby at the end, so, I've made my peace with it. It is nice to have an end date in sight as I am getting so uncomfortable!

Haven't seen you post in a while I Was also incredibly upset about being induced today. I didn't have a medical reason to be induced, other than my baby was huge! (8Lbs 8OZ) I wanted to do everything naturally, and other than getting started with pitocin I was still able to do everything unmedicated, and my LO was born vaginally. (I have the second degree tears to prove it)
What actually helped me get through the pain was settin small goals for myself. If I can get through this level for the next fifteen minutes I'll be fine, so just fifteen more minutes! I also had my fiancé and my mom in the room with me, both of which were AMAZING to me! Laboring hurts, pushing hurts, but getting stitched up afterwards was where I almost lost it...
Good luck on the 31st, and keep us posted until then
So no baby yet. Things calmed down after getting home. What I have noticed is that I begin to get contractions and the whole deal about 2 hours before my next nifedipine. I'm guessing labor will happen regardless of meds if it's the real deal. So it can still be soon! And it looks like my entire or a good chuck of my mucus plug just came out.
Last night I was having contractions all while I was sitting down. They didn't go away until much water and after going to sleep. I woke up this morning and they started back up again and I'm at work, sitting. Thank goodness I only have to work until noon and I can go home and lay down and hopefully the contractions will go away again.
I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and baby boy is still baking happily! I've had a few contractions a day (more like round ligament stuff) and was only between 1 and 2 on Monday. Has anyone else been told you can only go over your due date by a week now? With my DD 2 1/2 years ago, it was two weeks and yes, same doc. Crazy how threat of malpractice and insurance stuff changes things! I go back Tuesday and unless lil dude decides to come out on his own will be induced 4/4 at 40w, 2 days. DD came at 40w, 2d after being induced overnight the day before. Funny how the doc keeps expecting me to be miserable. I'm actually really good with DS - a few round ligament things here and there but ANYTHING is better than the months and months I had of carpal tunnel last time!
@melandyga my OB's policy has been 41 weeks for at least the past couple of years. There are some schools of thought that say the placenta is only "good" for about 40-41 weeks, and then begins to die. Between that and the fear of the patient developing pre-e, GD or just having a super big baby, they will schedule your induction at your 41 week appointment, usually 1-2 days later.

Whaa?
Yeah, I dunno...apparently in a lot of cases, it stops functioning as efficiently after 41 weeks (according to the studies that my OB listens to), so there is automatically higher risk associated or something? All I heard was that I wouldn't have to be pregnant for as long if I went over my due date, so I just kinda went with it...
My MIL and DH need to chill out! So my mucus plug came out this morning and after yesterday's craziness they keep saying I'm going into labor and should go to L&D. My contractions and back pain have decreased so no point. I keep telling him that I'm fine so he goes and calls the doctor and yup no need to go in. Couldn't resist and said I told you so...now he's upset.

Increased risk of fetal demise later on with placenta failure is one of the risk factors associated the further you go past 42, I imagine.. and idea of late term pregnancy loss strikes pure fear through my heart and induces instant panic.

I think my hospital starts planning inductions for 41 weeks. At the 40 week appointment, they schedule you.
@yodiggity Put it on your list of questions! It may also depend on if you are high risk or not. If you're having a normal pregnancy, then they may just shrug and say that it's ok to go all the way to 42 weeks. If you're high risk, they may want to plan an induction for right after you turn 40 weeks. It really depends on the hospital and your doctor. I know the triage doctor was freaking out on me on Wednesday because I don't have a scheduled induction or c-section yet. If this kid stays in until my appointment on the 31st, they'll schedule me to be induced ASAP to help avoid needing a c-section. Apparently shoulder dystocia freaks Kaiser out.
@fbanke42 is Kaiser your health system or something? It sounds like an evil dictator organization from the way you reference them and I'm imagining this guy at the head table..
@cmjenkies It's my hospital and health insurance provider. They seriously do feel like an evil dictator right now with everything that I have going on.
My doctor says they typically don't go past 41 weeks (schedule you for induction at 40 weeks like others have said) but if you WANT to go longer, they're open to the discussion.
Of course, with me, my mother went to 44 weeks (two failed inductions and finally a c-section because her cervix never dilated at all) so I'm really hoping that's not genetic.
The doctors here do not talk about induction until you've reached week 42. I am seriously hoping LO decides to arrive before that because 1) I don't want an induction 2) he's already estimated to be around 7lbs at 37 weeks and I don't want to push out a 10-11 lbs baby.
