DH finally got home from his 10-day work trip late last night. He's off today, and I'm stuck at work. After picking him up at the airport late last night, I didn't get much sleep, and I would so much rather be at home hanging out and napping with him today. I'm definitely leaving work early, but since it's not quite 2:30, I can't justify leaving yet. Maybe at 4:00...
Poor DH is still working while I'm at home enjoying pre-baby maternity leave. Last night he said "you wouldn't think waiting would be so hard on the dad". The poor guy can't focus on anything till LO gets here- and he's a counselor so focus is kind of important!
Hello!! Some fun random facts since I haven't had time to participate in TTT lately. 1. I have 16 minutes left until my maternity leave starts. 2. I took leave at 39 weeks so I could do last minute stuff and try and chill out. 3. Pretty sure that I'm actually in labor and will be having this kid by the end of the weekend instead. Unless I'm actually just about to have the Armageddon of all periods. Which is unlikely, because you know, pregnant. 4. The nurse said this could go on for a couple of days. Sad face for that. 5. I'm scared.
Ok, got a little behind again. Some of my thoughts as I play catch up:
I still don't have a plan for letting family know. Part of me hopes I get a VBAC before my EDD so my inlaws won't be able to make it in time. With my first I had about 12 people in the room a couple of hours after my CS. That's major surgery, assholes! They were so loud that nobody could hear me, my anxiety was through the roof, and I couldn't even see DD's first bath. NOT AGAIN. I have spoken to DH and he is going to work with everyone to stagger their visits so that, at least while I'm in the hospital, we have no more than two guests at a time.
Regarding TMI - it's only TMI if there are pictures.
We did a carseat base in each car with one carseat for the first six months or so, but DD was a chunk and we didn't want to cram her in the infant seat to travel at the holidays so we bought two convertible seats, one for each car. I would say, if you are planning on getting more than one car seat, to get the convertible style and not multiple of the bucket infant seats, since they are in the bucket seats so briefly.
For my first, I got a brazillian wax about a month out. Seriously painful, but so wonderful to not have to worry about my situation down there the last month, or during CS and PP bleeding! Seriously thinking about doing that again...
2 questions: 1. Any STMs not have a single contraction until they went into labor? BH or otherwise? I MAY have had a couple yesterday, but they were so mild, they honestly shouldn't even count.
2. How are people preparing for working or being out an about and not being a wet mess on the off-chance their water breaks?
@MsIan stash a diaper in the glove box and sit on a puppy training square pad in the car in case of water breaking there. A towel would most likely work too.

1. My last pregnancy I had contractions for weeks without feeling
it. I would only realize it when a provider told me so. So... you
might be unknowingly contracting.
2. I have a towel in my car and will probably through a garbage bag in there too. I don't know if there is much else I can do? I could go on preemptive strike and start wearing depends?
Today I thought it might be the start of labor (I'm only 35 weeks so not a great thing). Turns out this torturous back pain is a kidney stone! The doctor said, "well this is going to be really painful for you, but there is no harm to the baby." Ugh, thanks doc!

DH is the devil. All we have left besides hanging decorations in the nursery is putting in the floor which I keep bugging him about. So just now he said 'I'll get the floor done if you actually do the thank you cards this weekend.' I need to do them but I wanted to smack him.

I'm working until the bitter end, and I am not preparing for my water breaking because I'm in denial a baby is actually coming. I've got too much to do.
I took two days off before my leave last time and I think it made me crazier. Which was hard, bc I was so crazy. I'm doing a much better job keeping the crazy in check so far.
I'm also working up until the end (or at least that's the plan) and not preparing for my water breaking. If it happens, it happens. Enjoy the office gossip, coworkers.

I decided to start my leave at 36 weeks, I'm now at almost 38 and while I'm glad I'm not at work I do wish I had more to do. Probably if I had a desk job I would have worked up to my due date.
@Aquinna82 I think it is normal to feel like that. I got really freaked out with my first when I decided to go to the hospital. It all became very real. But as soon as I got there I let the nurses take over the worry and it was like I just knew everything would be fine. Mommy instinct maybe. lol

Desk job is just as hard as being on your feet...
This. I'm not saying being on your feet isn't hard, but I'm so uncomfortable all day long. And the stress level alone is enough to make me want to scream... Mandatory late nights and weekends working for govt clients. Not fun at all.

True, desk job IS just as hard as an on your feet job. I just think for me personally, the mental aspect of a desk job would have been easier to manage longer than the physical aspect of teaching. Mans mandatory nights and weekends are just...they're the worst. I used to work at a 24/7 facility for kids and having to sometimes work until 8-9 at night and then come in at 7am ready to go sucked.

I just put a puppy pad in the car today! the diaper is a great idea too - I always have my diaper bag with me, so we're good there!
Mama to Three Girls: Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
Genuinely curious...why do doctors strip membranes before someone's due date?? My doctor and I talked about doing this prior to an induction, but a lot of the moms on the April board are/were having theirs stripped at 38 weeks...??
Desk job finally made me hit my breaking point today because of my POS office chair . The way I'm sitting is awful and my bump presses into my thighs causing me to sweat worse and the level of discomfort of beyond anything one can describe . Then we all know the feeling of getting up after sitting for awhile and what a nightmare that is ... Trying to hobble to the next destination when your vagina and back hurts so bad you need a few mins to get it together before you actually start to penguin hobble . So yeah desk job sucks too ...

A mix of 1/8c oil and 1/8c lemon juice every 2 hours and you will pass the stone overnight pretty painlessly. the bad part I found is that my amazing home remedy gives me heartburn during pregnancy. I have had chronic kidney stones for about 10 years now and this is the only thing that gets them out fast.

I would really like to know too! My OB asked if I wanted this done at 37 weeks and really there is no medical reason to get things going that early. When I questioned it she said "It can help get the ball rolling" I declined then and again at my 38 week.
So the whole "labor and deliver is super crowded during a full moon" thing is actually really true. We arrived at the hospital for my induction, waited 2 hours and because I'm not in distress they sent me home until tomorrow morning because they literally don't have any free beds. I'm psyched but also grumpy because I usually go to bed by 10.
Re: **The Everything Random Thread for May 2016**
I found out yesterday that LO is finally head down though not engaged and my dr said they typically don't flip back once they are head down.
My DH has very broad shoulders, and he says he hopes the baby gets those from him. I'm like, "Well, my vagina doesn't!"

We all need to tell our S/Os that foot rubs and eating ice cream simultaneously induces labor.

My water broke at home while I was on bedrest, so I avoided that bullet.
