My mom just phoned me and said that they want to give us money towards something big for the nursery or for lots of smaller stuff.
We already have the cot, compactum, pram, car, rock and play. We don't have a rocker yet, and no bassinet thingy for sleeping next to us in the room if we want...
What would you ladies suggest we get??
Is there anything else I need to think of? STMs - what made your life easier first time around?
eta: our room and the living room is not far from baby's room - they are all very close together so no stairs etc.
^^^ I had a question for STMs based off the question above. Our master is on the ground floor. Crib is going in our master. Do we need a PNP? I'm trying to figure out when we would use it.
It's finally our spring break week and with the blessing of my OB DH and I decided to fly to DC. I have several friends here, love the city, and it's history/ museums plus DH had never been. So we took the hour and 15 min flight. I'm super excited just to be away from home but I've been nervous because I'm 34 weeks pregnant and we have a lot of walking to do. DH to the rescue!!! The hotel front desk just called our room and said my delivery had arrived. Confused I went down to the lobby and saw that DH has rented me an electric wheelchair for the week. Pregnancy can't slow me down! I've got museums to visit and tours to take. It's time to nerd-cation!
OMG. How many times do I need to ask the same exact question at work before I get the appropriate response? No one actually reads anything and I can't get rid of this work item that is due in 3 days bc no one knows what they should be doing... Already very over today.
I am going to whine. I planned to take a little nappy-poo during my lunch break today, but the janitor just came by and said he needs to check my smoke alarm and change the lightbulbs etc and he isn't going to be here after school so he is going to do it during my lunch break. So I have to eat lunch in the staff room and can't cuddle up on my cot for a quick snooze. Now I am grumpy. Humph!

I'm just a FTM but I'd say the rocker! That's really generous of your mom!
I was too tired to go to Easter dinner last night, and we had to bring dessert. Now we have an entire cheesecake from a really great local bakery in the fridge. I meant to tell my husband to take the whole thing to work since I work from home, and it's literally like leaving a crack around a recovering crack addict. I can resist it right now because it's morning time, and I don't want that much sugar this early. But the post lunch 2/3pm crash? I would throw it away, but my husband will probably want a slice tonight, and it was $38 friggin' dollars. Must find the willpower to resist.

Eat it. Seriously. Not enough time left being pregnant to care about those calories! Eat it for the rest of us who don't have that deliciousness in our fridge!!

YAAAASSSS! I felt so guilty because I planned to bring all the leftover sweets from my baby shower on Saturday to Easter dinner...but secretly stashed a bunch of cookies and cake pops. MH found them and gave me a look, but I just waved him off like:

I took a mental health day off from work. Part of my day is finishing the coconut cream cake from yesterday. No regerts
@Charissadeats since you have most of the essentials already, I think a comfy rocker would be nice. I used mine quite a bit with DD.
@vinerie I guess it depends how much you plan on traveling with your child before they're 2ish, or if you foresee needing a safe place to contain your baby at times (whether it's from pets or when you're cooking, etc)? FWIW, we set up the pack and play in our master bedroom for the first couple of months instead of the crib so that we could leave the crib in the nursery to slowly acclimate DD to staying in there by herself. We've used our PNP quite a bit between those first couple of months for sleep and then traveling. Some people use PNPs in their living room or kitchen so they have somewhere safe to contain the baby while cooking, etc.

@yogahh A lot better. Hopefully it stays this way. We had a talk about a week or so ago and since then he's changed his attitude and also been keeping up with medication his doctor put him on. He started anger management last week as well.
This makes me so happy for you!
@doozer1345 Thank you!! Makes me very happy as well. Things have been great the past month or so. Praying it continues.
Is it just me or are you other mommas barely able to contain your excitement? I'm 33 weeks today and I feel like time is dragging. (as we have all heard it does around this time) I just wish I could wake up and be 40 weeks. I know I should enjoy the last bit of pregnancy but I just want my baby girl here so much! I can barely concentrate on anything else... ugh.
@kp90 Yessss. I keep telling myself "one more month," with the hope I won't go all 40.
Bright side: I'm officially off of bed rest, but I've been told to rest and maybe I can go back to work at 35 weeks. I might actually go back---I've been SO bored!

Yup. Just do it!
Me: 31
DH: 29, SA - Great
Married: June 12,2011
TTC #1: 1/2014
Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Treatment: Clomid: 50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored
@babyfmama Glad I'm not alone! Let's hope for a quick next few weeks.
@msian Glad you're off bed rest! I can't imagine how boring that got. Yay for you! and yes I am also praying to go a little early, lol I keep telling LO she can make her grand entrance any time after 36 weeks. Fingers crossed!
@kp90 I wish I had this feeling! I'm so excited for our first to arrive, but at the same time I worry about everything and feel like I have so much left to do! I'm getting really nervous about being good enough for her and the last few days have told my SO I just want her to stay in as long as possible. I feel like these last few weeks have flown by and I don't have enough time to prepare... I'm sure it sounds crazy, but I was so overwhelmed this morning I was in tears. I've wanted to be a mom for a long, long time and we've suffered loss and now that it's finally going to happen I have so many feelings!
I might have overindulged in those white hard coated easter eggs (do you get those?!) - cause he looked at me, took my mouth in his hand and said (very worried) "are you okay?!! Your lips are like scary white" - I just laughed at him until he realised, nope nothing wrong, my wife just had too much candy.
@maybaby0519 I'm sure that's a normal feeling for a lot of other moms too. But I'm sure once she arrives you will be a great mom and you will be great parents. LO is not going to know if you aren't 'fully' prepared or missing some items here and there. All she will care about is being fed, changed and loved on. Try not to stress and take one task at a time or ask for help from family, friends or SO to help you get some of these things done that are overwhelming you. Relax, you got this! hugs.

I'm the opposite. Time is FLYING by and I need things to slow down. But, yes. I'm super excited. Which is why I'm on TB way too much!

Yeah, DS got 6 different easter baskets yesterday from family members. Not including what DH and I got him from the easter bunny. He's 2. Momma may or may not be munching down on chocolate bunnies and peeps during nap time and after bedtime for the next week or so.....

Yes! After I saw how much candy DD got yesterday I told DH that it would be slowly disappearing. Slowly, because that girl is crazy and will notice if I take her chocolate, but maybe if I just take a couple at a time I can get away with it. There is no way I'm letting her eat that much sugar, but I can't just throw it away!
^^^ I had a question for STMs based off the question above. Our master is on the ground floor. Crib is going in our master. Do we need a PNP? I'm trying to figure out when we would use it.
We mostly use the PNP for travelling. We visit family several hours away monthly or so, and then we go away for a week or two at Christmas, among other trips so it is critical for us.
On that note, I'm trying to figure out what to do with two LOs... two PNPs would be unwieldy and so hard to fit in our trunks along with all the other bags and things on a trip. DD will absolutely not cosleep- she just climbs all over us and plays and pulls my hair and falls off the bed. We have tried- it isn't happening. She will be 2 in May. I'm thinking the first few months we could use the RNP or something for DS but at Christmas he will be too big and we plan to still have them both in cribs so DD won't be in (or used to) a toddler bed by then. Anyone else dealt with this?
Random thought of the day: pretty sure my baby is either 24 inches long or I'm the hunchback of Notre Dame and need to keep my posture in check. Either way...
sillyfox
I am having the same issue. We have 2 year old twins. The PNPs have a weight limit of 30lbs (they are both under 25lbs), and a height limit of 35in (we are almost there). Is that realistic? The girls wear sleep sacks, so they don't try to climb out, so can we keep using the PNPs?
Mama to Three Girls: Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
seems like we need one thread about braxton hicks, everytime i log in there is a new post about it
I don't really mind random posts, but I noticed there were a lot of BH posts today pretty much asking the same thing. I think we are at the point in our pregnancies where the cramps are going to happen, and the confusion will set in!

@sillyfox and @JennyS86Have you looked at the Baby Bjorn travel cot? We are using it now for DS (just turned 2, 29 lbs and 35") while we are staying in a temporary apartment during our renovation. He loves it and all of the info says it's good up to 3 years old. It's flat on the ground unlike a pnp and comes with a thin but comfy mattress and mesh sides. Also only weighs about 11lbs and collapses/assembles easily. It is kind of pricey but it was way cheaper than buying a crib.
I got my preemie lending closet from the local parents of multiples meeting tonight. The clothes are SO tiny! But even the twin mom who made it to 38 weeks said her babies wore preemie size for a short time, and man the preemie clothes are a) hard to find and b) so expensive! Glad to have this resource.

DD wore preemie for the first 2-3 weeks even though she was born at 37 weeks. It is impossible to find preemie clothes!! We had a very limited supply until she was able to wear newborn. Preemie diapers are also really hard to find. The hospital gave us some and I think we only had to buy one pack after those ran out. We could only find them at 1 store and I think it was target.

Perfectly describes my feelings...
But then my best friend just found out she is pregnant with her first. She is only 7-8 weeks along so then I don't feel so sorry for myself anymore
