What was your first clue ?

Re: What was your first clue ?

  • It all started a week before Christmas when I fell and broke my ankle. They tested me in the ER & it came back negative. Fast forward to 1/14, while still recovering, I felt very nauseous, which I kind of attributed to the pain meds. I hadn't eaten anything all day & got sick around 4pm, which is very rare for me. I decided to test with a little 88¢ cheapie from Walmart, lo & behold I got a BFP within 15 seconds. So long story short, nausea & sore breasts. I'm currently 9w5d.
  • Both times a couple days before the bfp I had a weird feeling in my armpits like they were swollen, then my boobs felt sore and swollen. But first it was the armpits ... So weird!

  • I dont know why I even tested, I've had irregular cycles for the last 8 years. Sometimes going up to 8 months with no AF, and 4 different doctors saying the chanced of me conceiving with no intervention was near impossible. But this time.. I went to the store to pick up icy hot after falling and pulling a muscle, and I grabbed two $1 walmart pregnancy tests. I went home at midnight when I was off work and took them, sure enough.. positive! So something told me to, but I definitely don't know what it was! Me and the man were pleasantly suprised!
  • I had no symptoms other than my temps were still above the cover line and no period.  I took the test when I was one day late and it was positive in seconds.

  • On Halloween night I had an urgent sense of hunger that I'd never felt before.  While waiting in a drive thru line, I thought I was going to faint.  Took a test the next day and it was positive!

@JamieK1882 See!?!? I'm telling you, "falling," is totally a thing!  lol  Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I can't help but think it could also have to do with slight dizziness, or just your body adjusting to the changes we're not even aware of yet. So you take a step that normally you'd recover from but your CNS is just like, "Nope, down we go!"  Hope everybody's feeling better from their spills!

  • I was TTGP even though my last cycle was was technically NTNP.  We didnt want to stop but we weren't gun ho about it since getting pregnant would sorta hinder some plan for the new year. Well we were at a friends christmas party and drinking was involved. I fully believe in don't stop living because your TTGP however i tested that morning, BFN just in case.  I had a 1beer and was satisfied since I was DD anyways but some of the ladies wanted to do shots of Fireball. I decided one couldnt hurt but when I held up the shot to my mouth my subconscious yelled at me to put the shot down.  So I took a tiny sip and handed it to another lady and said I couldn't handle it. The next morning I had 3 squinters!

Goes to show just because you tested the morning and it was a BFN doesnt mean your not pregnant.

  • @BusinessWife - Thank you. Feeling better slowly. Unfortunately my fall required surgery. :( It may sound weird, but I feel this all may be a blessing from my mom who passed in July last year. I was told by many doctors I have basically a one in a million chance of conceiving on my own. The journey has only just begun, but SO and I are excited beyond belief. :)

Starting the week before AF I had really sore and tingling nips and I was super irritable. At that point I figured it was just PMS. Occasionally I will get tender breasts near my armpits but never really had the nippie zingers before, so that was weird!

Then I started to get reeeeeeally tired. The day AF was due I was so tired I took a nap at 330 in the afternoon. I had weird dreams and then I was abruptly woken up by a sharp stabbing pain in my pelvis area, like menstrual cramps. It felt like someone pounced on my uterus! At first I thought it was because I had to pee so bad so I ran to the bathroom and the cramping persisted. I figured ok I guess AF is on the way. But it was a little strange because I only get cramps after I start bleeding and only for a few hours at the most, like an intense stabbing/contraction feeling.

This was Wednesday.  I continued cramping for a few days but they were different than menstrual cramps. A little more mild but random sharp twinges at times and I felt like I had to pee every hour. By Friday night I thought it was weird I didn't start bleeding yet so then I thought great I'm getting a UTI! Because I had to pee so much and I would cramp especially bad before and after.

I decided to take a cheap stick test Friday night and it was negative, probably because my urine wasn't concentrated enough. I was pretty convinced I wasn't pregnant and just getting sick or something. Then I woke up Saturday morning and tested with another cheapie. I got a faint line but didn't believe it, I had to redip it at first because the dye didn't move so I figured it was defective. I dug out a FRER and another generic brand test and could not believe my eyes when I saw the BFP dark lines! I cried for about 45 minutes out of joy and shock and ran around my bedroom going OMG OMG OMG!!

So to recap, sorry this was long... about 7/8 dpo I had sore nippies and irritability. 14 dpo fatigue, cramping and sore lower back. I think I knew after a couple days of cramping but was trying not to get my hopes up.

  • My sense of smell was insane. I had some cramping. I also was nausous. All about a week before my missed period. The pregnancy was planned. I knew to look for symptoms or a missed period but didn't know I would feel them that early
  • Started with sore breasts, as we were not TTC thougth nothing of it but did start taking my temp. Temp was not as high as when pregnant but was steady. Then got very light period so thougth that was it. Things were still weird. Then about four days later I started spotting, I had this feeling and asked oh to get a pregnancy test, it was clearly positive and the rest is history....
  • I tested way earlier than I would have normally because I felt off - nauseated to be precise. Usually when I feel sick-queasy, it's more in my head/dizziness. This felt distinctly like me up-in-an-airplane-nausea. Even though I was expecting AF (surprise baby) I tested on the hunch. It was like 9DPO, but there was a faint, faint line.

  • For me, I had pretty typical PMS symptoms, only exaggerated. My breasts were sore (as they had been the few months prior just before AF), but this time it was worse and they also felt very heavy. I was also extremely irritable -- again, a normal PMS symptom for me so I didn't really expect anything. Then the day before AF was due, I didn't spot at all -- normally, I have one full day of spotting and then AF the next day. With no spotting at all, I started to get hopeful. Went to a get together that night but didn't drink since I hadn't had any spotting, tested the next morning (the day AF was due) and got a faint line on an FRER and followed up with a positive digital!
  • Extreme tiredness and having to pee numerous times a night
  • Sore boobs and implantation spotting!
  • Mine was fatigue. I was so tired, I thought I was getting sick. I took meds (whoops) and slept all weekend, then a few days later felt fine. Then a test confirmed that I was preggo 3 days after a missed period!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Hmm, I had stabbing pains in my bbs & cramps (either of which could have been period symptoms) - then came the nausea! Fun!
  • Awful insomnia. We were not planning on trying for a 2nd baby just yet & then suddenly I just couldn't sleep. I said to my hubby "this is just like when I was pregnant!" Then we looked at eachother & had an 'Oh Sh*t' moment.... Took the test next day & sure enough-prego!
  • I found out at 8 weeks 3 days by an ER doctor. I had previous troubles with my gall bladder, so I thought that was it.

I first noticed a late period which isn't uncommon due to PCOS so there wasn't cause for concern there. The nausea then hit like a ton of bricks. It was mostly at night. I couldn't keep anything down. I didn't eat for 4 days and began to vomit bile, so I went to the ER.
They drew blood, took a urine sample, asked if I could be pregnant to which I replied no, I wish, and then was given an ultrasound of my gallbladder.

An hour or so later the doctor came in and asked me more questions and said gallbladder was fine, but I was pregnant.

Thought my child was a gallstone.

  • I had a sinus infection I couldn't shake, headaches and sore boobs.  Throw in a missed period, and I thought, OH CRAP.
  • Moving over here from TTGP!

first sign with DS was just instinct, I just knew from 3dpo when i was given pelvic X-rays after I fell off a horse.

first sign this time around was migraines, I never get migraines, I just knew something was up.

  • I, too, am here from TTGP *waves*

I had an instinctual feeling, as weird as it sounds. About 10 dpo I was at Target and bought a teeny, tiny pair of baby shoes with our alumni colors on it, I just knew I had to get them that very day! The symptoms to follow that gave me a clue was being SO hungry. Like, I'd eat a ton of food in one sitting and then an hour later I'd be starving.

Probably the most glaring of all is how MOODY I was. My Lord, I am already a moody person as is but I have NEVER been as mad at DH as I was 10dpo too. And in retrospect, it was over nothing. I was just being cray lol.

  • I was very tired and had extremely sore breasts (which could have been pre-PMS symptoms) but I just felt like I needed to take a test. I tested five days before my period and two tests were positive (digital and lines). I went to my OBGYN the next day and even he was perplexed that a mid-day urine test contained such a high readable level of HCG.
  • My first symptoms were hot flashes, thirst, and just feeling different. I would get SO hot at work. Unusually hot. And I don't usually like to drink a ton of liquids but I started craving water. And I just felt kind of fuzzy. Now I'm just experiencing light cramping and my sense of smell is intense.  :)

Another thing that may or may not be related is I was having FREEZING feet at night. :s A heat pad wouldn't even heat them up. But that seems to have gone away too.

  • 3 days late & 2 positive pregnancy tests

no real symptoms until about 6-7 weeks then the wonders of HG
  • Thirst and being freezing (actual chills). But neither of these meant anything til the low-level constant cramping...that was the first real sign!

  • My stomach felt warm, like an ears burning sensation. That was the day before my BFP.
  • I burst out crying at a sort of sweet story on the radio. I was like- um, why am I crying?

  • I started vomiting, every single time before I even missed a period. Andddd I continue to vomit the entire time. so yay.
  • Two weeks before my missed period I had noticed sore, swollen breasts, fatigue and food cravings. Typically I would figure it was my period but I had also noticed my eyes were more dry and my contacts kept falling out, I had an increased sense of smell which was driving my coworkers crazy and I noticed my saliva was thicker which was really gross. I text my husband and asked him to pick up a pregnancy test on his way home. It came up negative but I just had this strange feeling, my body just felt different. A week later I was home sick with what I thought was the flu, once I started feeling a bit better I took a second test, followed by three and four and all of them came back positive! I still have all my original symptoms currently in week eight.
  • First time, absolutely nothing but making it to 13 DPO when I don't normally make it past 11. Still didn't think I was pregnant but took a test just in case. Got leukorrhea that night and other symptoms started to set in a couple days later.

This time, I started testing with cheapies at 7 DPO and got a faint positive at 10 DPO. I felt exhausted pretty much immediately, but nothing obvious. Currently 16 DPO and feeling much harder hit than last time, so hopefully that's a good sign.
  • The sign for me was constipation and spotting plus bloating when you feel your going to pop and dizzy spells
  • Just a missed period for me.  We thought we might be pregnant last month, but tested and got a negative result (and I ended up getting my period later that same day, doesn't it just figure!)  My cycles were usually like clockwork up until the last one, and I figured it was just due to stress, so I waited for a week past my missed period this time and got our BFP.

My legs were super sore and wouldn't stop hurting. it would keep me up at night. And I was super hot all.night. long. So happy that seems to be done.

My boobs are sore every month, so that didn't really make me suspect anything. What did make me say "hmmmm" however, was this dream I had that I was lactating. It's like I knew before I knew!
  • Sleeplessness for 2 weeks!

That and being 9 days late haha but even at that, I didn't test yet b/c with my PCOS, my cycles have been known to be wonky.  Once I got my positive, it all made sense.  I started paying attention to other symptoms as well.  Funny thing is, as soon as I miscarried, even a DAY after the process began, the symptoms completely disappeared.  I found that to be really odd, like I had never even been pregnant to begin with :'( .
  • Hungry ALL the time!
  • I had the weirdest dreams! They were weird combos of baby dreams and work nightmares.  I also had shortlived bursts of light nausea, which never happens to me!
  • I was disgusted with the thought of food. Nothing sounded good and I was nasious all the time. After four years of trying I was in denial but then my husband made me take a test. I still had a hard time believing it. It wasn't until my 12 week ultra sound that I finally let myself get excited. We are starting to try for number two so we will see if the symptoms change this time.
