I've always liked the name Leah but its a bit plain. Saw a character named 'Leigha' in a book and really took to it and now its stuck in my head. I'm not normally one for creative spellings or anything overly trendy so I wanted some honest opinions to see if this name is as pretty as I think it is or if it would get side-eyed.

Yeah, definitely don't use that.  It looks terrible, and I think your poor child would constantly be referred to as "leg-ha".

No. The proper spelling is Leah. It's not boring, it's classic. Creative spellings (aka miss spelling) only makes you (the parent) look uneducated and will also be a PITA for your daughter later on.

My middle name is Leigh and anyone who has ever had to say it (other than family) out loud has always pronounced the "g". So she's in for a lot of "lee-ga" and "lay-ga".

Changing the spelling doesn't make it a different name or suddenly more exciting, it just bastardises what was a lovely name. Leah is a great name, and I'd be considering it if my brother hadn't snagged it 8 years ago for his beautiful daughter.

Nope.  I read this as Lay-gah, which is horrible.  Keep Leah, it's pretty and easy for people to understand, there's no need to ruin the spelling.

Aside from the fact that it's a made up spelling, "Leigha" is also terrible to look at. 

Leah is just fine the way it is.

Definitely vote no for Leigha. It doesn't even look like it would be pronounced the same as Leah.

Just a couple of points so that you don't all think I'm one of 'those' people - I wasn't actually looking for alternative spelling of Leah. Leah is a lovely name but I would probably never actually use it. Just saw an alternative version in a book and decided I liked it once I'd gotten to the end and got used to it.

But your feedback was sort of what I was expecting and therefore it's officially off the list.
