So we have really been struggling with names. Dh has a thing for names that begin with vowels bc he thinks they flow better with our last name. Dd is Olivia Anne. We are having a boy this time and he two names we seem to agree upon the most are Owen and Elliott so it will probably be a combo of the two. We had initially thought Owen would be the first name but the more I think about it I think I like Elliott better and I don't think it will be as popular. Thoughts on Owen Elliott vs Elliott Owen?
We are naming ours Elliott too! It's Elliott Michael though. I personally think you should go with Elliott Owen
I am finding deciding on a name is impossible. It's much too big of a decision! We have it narrowed down to 3 but I don't know how to actually decide.
If you have it narrowed down (assuming you don't want monogrammed items for baby) maybe just let it be a decision that comes naturally when you see him/her. I think sometimes a baby will look more like one name suits them than another, and at least you aren't picking from thousands
We had no issues with picking names during our 2 previous pregnancies (DD1 is Adelyn Grace and DD2 is Lillian Jean). That being said we cannot agree on a name for DS in the slightest. We're between Troy and Russell, neither of which are really striking us as what his name should be. Thoughts? Help?!
Right now Sadie is at the top of our lists. I also think it works as a sib-set name with DS's name: Connor.
I just can't decide if it feels too ... nickname-y to me. I mean the only time I ever heard it as a name was on a co-worker in college and I never thought twice about her name (so why am I now?) it fit her perfectly. If DD has a similar personality to me, DH, or to DS she'll be a spunky redhead (assuming she gets DH's red hair like DS did) and I feel like Sadie is quite appropriate then.
I've read that people use it as a dog's name? I've never heard of it as a dog's name (and people use "people" names on dog's all the time) so that's not a valid reason for me to not use it.
Other names on the list are:
Cora - DH doesn't hate it, I'm not sure I want another "C" name
Eleanor
Evelyn
Olivia - pretty popular, was our #1 if DS was a girl, not sure if we want to use it for this baby because of that
Zoe
Harper - on DH's list, not sure if I am a fan of it
Isabelle - new to the list, we both like it, Isabella is really popular right now though
Clara - DH's #1, I hate it
Raya - New to DH's list, not sure how I feel about it. It's a variation of a Reina (Queen) and neither of us are Spanish so I can't commit to that either - though I did study abroad in Spain. Dh likes it because it's also a variation of Rey (Star Wars) ... um, yeah, about that.

I have known a few dogs named Sadie actually. I'm not sure why it's a popular dog name but it does make me think of dogs as well as "Sexy Sadie" by the Beatles.
Jules08 We have decided on Sadie. I have known one dog named Sadie in my life and one human. We are struggling with the middle name now but I don't really care at this point. I VERY rarely use my mn and I don't even know my bff's middle name...

Gah. I don't even want to think about middle names! I had one if we used Olivia (Mae), but I do not like it with Sadie. I feel like I'd have to move to the south to use that. I don't really have and family names to use / carry on from my side and DH's mom/ mom's side is pretty non-existent in our lives.

I also have known dogs named Sadie, but our dogs have always had "people" names so that wouldn't really bother me. I think it's cute and I've known grown women named that and it didn't seem nickname-y to me.
From your list, I also love Cora, Evelyn, Isabelle, and Clara (I know you hate it, but I dig it - Claire was a compromise bc Clara sounds too rhyme-y with our last name). Don't care for Raya or Eleanor, and the others just feel very "trendy" to me despite being perfectly good names.
@Jules08 I think Sadie is adorable! I don't think it should matter if people use it on dogs because lots of dogs have people names. If you named her skip I would think she's a dog, but Sadie doesn't immediately make me think of a pet.

I don't really have and family names to use / carry on from my side and DH's mom/ mom's side is pretty non-existent in our lives.
My stepdad keeps suggesting "Mae"...he's from Arkansas.
I can't say much because we're in GA and I was born/raised between Louisiana and Georgia but "Sadie Mae" is *way* too country sounding to me.

Perhaps Sadie Maeve? Other single syllable names. ..
Sadie Claire Sadie Pearl Sadie June (kinda country again though ) Sadie Jewel Sadie Blythe Sadie Dawn Sadie Faye Sadie faith Sadie Gail Sadie Gwen Sadie Jade Sadie Jane Sadie Jean Sadie Joan Sadie Meryl Sadie Ruth
Brazwell is my man's grandpa's name... I'm not particularly in love with it, but I love Parker and told him he had free reign on the middle name. At least it is meaningful.

Lurking - We 90% decided on Sadie June. We are from the Midwest but both sides from my family, and one side of DH's, are from the "country" lol. I literally was thinking to myself last night that Sadie June sounded country but I didn't tell DH since we are two weeks away and just don't want to think of names anymore for our Team Green baby! Sadie was on the very short list for DD #1 (top 3 or 4 I think) and I really liked June for sentimental purposes. Girl name was going to be Brynn or Brinley before I decided I liked June as the middle name better than Brynn as a first name. (couldn't do BJS for initials lol) The dog thing threw me off for a good month of two but oh well! I like Sadie Claire from the list above and Sadie, Cora, or Clara from your list. The others are pretty popular around me but definitely go with them if you don't mind that! Good luck!
Married: 2012 --- BFP: 2013 - Little Miss arrived: 2014 --- BFP #2: 2015 - EDD: 2/2016 (Team Green)

Sadie June does sound a little country, but my grandmother's name was Ruth June (my middle name is Ruth), so either of those wouldn't be unreasonable! Ha!
My problem is I have so many name associations, and my own personal rules for names, that names (first and middle) feel so limited. My fault though
Also, we need to really decide if Sadie is our name or not before we pick a middle.

Sadie is adorable... if you are thinking it's to nickname-y, you could go with Sandra.
I personally love Cora from your list - it's what we are naming our LO (after my great grandmother).
All in all your list is pretty solid... although I like Eloise better than Eleanor...
We finally settled on a first name a couple months ago but the middle name is TBD although we're leaning more towards one than the other. Levi Hawk (#1) or Levi Steele (#2) will join his brother Chase Jagger in about 9 weeks unless he decides to show up sooner like his big brother did.
@allaire314 DH is saying he feels guilty giving DS#2 a middle name after his favorite team (Steelers) after not doing it for DS#1. He chose DS#1's first name and I chose the middle name. This time I get to choose the first name and he chooses the middle. I really love both names. We will see what he chooses.
@Goldsgirl9 I didn't even think of it being after the Steelers! It's a unique name, but not one that I would side eye... even with it being after the Steelers. Unless someone asked or you specifically told them about that tie it's not something I would automatically assume. Good thing you like both, because then you can't go wrong!!
Names are so hard! We are team green and obviously need to have boy/girl options. We still cannot decide on a girl name. Our boy name is Henry David. For girl names we have considered:
Evelyn James Perrie James Perrie Leigh
I also like Collins, but we were really trying to stick with family names. I am beginning to hope for a boy simply because we like the name. I'm worried I won't ever decide on a girl name!
I go to church with this older lady named Inella and everyone calls her Nella, and it's totally growing on me. I've been trying to find a name to pair with it, but it's proving to be quite difficult. Last night I thought, what about Nella Bea (Bee). It's cute, and I REALLLLLLY like it. And then I was like, Nella Bea….Nella Bea….Penelope. Damn. I have a DD named Penelope and Nella Bea is just too close. We call her Poppy and never Penelope, but still too close. Guess I'm still looking.
You could go with Henrietta as Indie's name was actually Henry... But I like the names Indie or Indiana! And I usually hate most of the names people on here come up with. I say go with it!
He finally talked more about names! He wants a "pretty" name. He rambled off a list of names we can't use because they're already used whether by us or people we dislike: Abigail, Amelia, Penelope, Victoria, Catherine, Emily, Evangeline, Lucy, Lily. Those are his types of names, but, we can't really find one that fits just right. So far, the one he likes the most is Leona.

Charlotte, Elizabeth and Caroline come to mind after reading your list. Do you agree with YH, or what is your style?

What about Miranda, Alexandria, Jocelyn, Chloe, or Rebecca?
As an out there suggestion, Selene. We have that as our second girl middle name choice. I'm 99.99% sure we'll never end up using it, since we only plan on having three kids.
@mrstrax Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Caroline are all out for various reasons. I like older names. Agatha, Mabel, Beatrix, Winifred, Agnes, Cordelia, Alice. He hates them all. He doesn't really suggest names, though, he just tells me names that he likes that we can't ever use. I suppose, in the hopes that I'll run across a name he likes. I'm running out of suggestions for him!
@fbanke42 He's already vetoed most of those. Definitely not ever Chloe. And he doesn't like A or S names. smh. I feel like I'll end up settling. We'll most likely have a list of names we do agree on and go from there once she's born. But a list of Leona isn't going to work.
Our last conversation was pretty much us listing names that sound like hooker names…we're not very productive.
SweetBriarBee I love Cordelia! I suggested that to SO when we were trying to decide but there is a small town in South Ga (we live in GA) called "Cordele" and he felt like people would think we named her after said po-dunk town.
We are trying to decide between Amelia (nn Mia) Lynn or Mia Lynn. On one hand I love having the longer name and if she hates Mia, Amelia gives her a lot of nickname options plus it's a beautiful name on its own. On the other hand I like the shortness and straightforwardness of Mia, and honestly some of the nicknames for Amelia (Lia, Millie, Amy) aren't my favorites. Husband is leaning toward Amelia, I'm leaning toward just Mia.
Lynn is a definite as it is my MN, my MIL's MN, and my mom's MN. Everyone gets honored at once.

@ashlp631 I love Amelia and would use it in a heartbeat if DH's ex weren't an Amy!
Ok - so - I'm loving Myra Mak or Maks (2 syllable last name) - Mak is the first three letters of my maiden name, Maks is Polish (so is my maiden name) - and Myra from my grandmother - Zelmira. DH wants Zelmira... whaaaaat? I loved my grandmother a ton but I cannot see a name like Zelmira now, not 1926. LOL I'm stuck cuz i REALLY like Myra Mak! Thoughts? DD1 is Elise FYI! THANKS!!!
