For a while my husband and I have had the name Arlo on our list if our little one ends up being a boy (we are team green). We both really like it but hadn't fully settled on it. Recently I have been growing concerned because there are two celebrity couples who have named their baby girl Arlo, plus it sounds so similar to the Harlow, Marlowe trendy names that I worry that it will not only become very trendy, but thought of as a girl name instead if it's original use as a masculine name.
Just wondering whether I'm overthinking it or whether my concerns are justified and we should scrap it in favour of something else?
We are drawn towards short names, not nicknames but without real nickname possibilities (Eli and Jude are also on our list) if anyone feels like suggesting better options.
Re: Trouble with boys name.
We were torn between Arlo and Ari for our son. We chose Ari, which I now regret because of the insane Aria craze.
Arlo is a masculine name. I wouldn't think this was a girl name at all. Also Arlo is the name of the main character in a recently released Disney movie (The good dinosaur) and he was a loveable, cute character and the movie has a great message behind it. My husband loves the name and its on our list of contenders.
Stick with it for a boy.
