PP weight loss thread

Re: PP weight loss thread

  • Im 4 weeks PP and I still have 9 pounds to go.. I know its not much but it bothers me.

I swear it's because I'm breastfeeding, I haven't lost anything since the first week.

I formula fed my boys and lost the weight so quickly and easy

  • 2 weeks 4 days PP and I'm down 30.

I gained 45 so that's 15 to go! I feel like the last bit (honestly, could use to loose an extra 5-10 on top of that) is going to be tough. I'm not going to really stress it till I hit 6 weeks PP and feel comfortable getting back into a routine that's normal for me.

PLUS.. It's the holidays! While I'm not exactly loving my little jelly belly.... I do love me some delicious holiday food (and treats!). Going to go ahead and enjoy all of that ;)

  • Still no scale, BUT my maternity jeans/shorts are really loose again! Sadly I still can't wear too many of my "normal" clothes due to the jelly belly thing and that they would irritate my healing c-section incision/scab.

THIS. I haven't even considered trying on my "normal" jeans. I am still wearing my maternity jeans and have no qualms about it, especially since I ended up having a c section as well. I also don't own a scale.
  • I lost about 20lb at my 2w PP visit. I weighed myself last week (5w pp), and am now down 28lb. I gained around 35lb, so I'm happy. I also gained a ton of water weight towards the end, which is why so much of it came off so quickly.

Honestly, I'm normally very active, so I'm not that worried about it. I would like to lose another 20lb (lost just under 20 prior to getting pregnant), but it's not my top priority. I do wish it was nicer outside so I could go walking though!

How many weeks PP are you? I'll be 7 weeks tuesday and I'm scared I might hurt myself. No c-section.
  • Today, 7 weeks PP I am wearing my prebaby skinny jeans! I am at my prebaby weight BUT I only put on 23 pounds.

No if only I could do something about these stretch marks and jiggly belly skin.

The jelly belly is the worst. I am about 15lb under my pre pregnancy weight and none of my pre pregnancy jeans fit right. I lost weight through my butt an thighs, but the jeans are still tight in the stomach. I had my gallbladder removed the weekend of thanksgiving which probably didn't help my abdominal muscles.
  • I have been eating everything in sight the past 2 weeks. I am scared to get on the scale. I have a plan January 4 to start a nutritional program with my SIL. Until then YOLO.

Ditto. This kid has been super fussy and screaming which makes me say "screw it" to eating well. The burger and fries taste so good and it's comfort food which is what momma needs when her kiddo is screaming at deafening levels for long stretches of time. Give me all the junk food right now.
  • Wish this belly flub would go away! 5 weeks pp and cannot wait for 8 weeks when I can finally start working out and running again. Have a funeral this week and have nothing to wear except maternity dress pants (with the belly band) or yoga pants or sweats. Being in between sizes sucks and I refuse to buy clothes just to fit the belly flub.

  • Still have not checked my weight since my 2 week check up after birth. I was down 20 lbs then I hope I lost more have an app next week well see then still waiting to be cleared from ob!
  • Now I get stretch marks?? They are really faint, but still..
I've heard that can happen when you lose weight too fast, so that's a little incentive to not worry so much about trying to lose all this weight right away.. I suppose. Lol.
  • Yay I lost 15 lbs since birth...but found 25! Lol wth I thought breast feeding was supposed to help. Why am I gaining weight! Ahhhhh!
  • Same here @NovemberSno. I think it's because my appetite is so crazy. Just started exercising 2 days ago, hoping that helps. I have nothing that fits!!

Yep. I eat non stop. Even at night I sneak to the kitchen at least twice for snacks. Ifeel so fat in there alone while everyone is sleeping. Including LO.
  • Glad I'm not the only one gaining weight. It doesn't help that it seems like every person we know gave us cookies. And of course those are the most accessible when I'm feeding LO (plus cookies are delicious)... Maybe in the new year I'll be better. Hah!
  • Gained 4 lbs over Christmas. Ahhhh. I am cooking this weekend to freeze some healthy meals. Gotta do something before this gets out of hand!

  • 8 weeks PP and I finally had my postpartum check and I'm down to 111, which is 3 lbs lighter than I was at 4 weeks PP, which is nice because I was sure I had gained over christmas. I'm 6 lbs up from my weight when I got pregnant and vast majority of my pants still don't fit. I never would have thought 6 pounds would make such a difference.
  • Finally had my pp appointment. The morning of my c-section I was 219lbs - pre-pregnancy I was about 164. Now I'm hanging out around 183.

But I can fit into at least two pairs of my non-maternity shorts which is nice.

I think it's a combo of the 6 lbs and a new weight distribution. I definitely have more weight/fluff in my belly than I did prior to getting pregnant so I've got a serious case of the muffin top

If it makes you feel better I am 20lb lighter than my pre pregnancy weight and many of my pre pregnancy jeans fit but are tight/uncomfortable.

You're definitely right. I've got more jiggle in my middle region than I've ever had, so that definitely doesn't help with the pants fitting. Then I've got bigger boobs that make a couple of my shirts fit weird. But I refuse to buy any new clothes just yet, haha.
  • So it's like 12 degrees here, and I have no motivation to go walking outside. There are no gyms near me with daycares. What can I do to work up a sweat that isn't yoga and isn't in the frigid outdoors? My weight loss has stopped since I stopped taking LO for long walks.

Look up, at home-no equipment work out routines on YouTube.
There are lots of things you can do indoors, in some small spaces to work up a sweat!
Also, my babe can't hold his head up yet, so I'm limited on these ones, but also look up exercises you can do with your lo. There are many stomach and leg exercises!

Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is available for free on you tube and man is that a good work out!! I've had no motivation lately to work out, though I did get the go ahead from the ped to go jogging with baby as long as she's in the car seat attached to the jogging stroller. Wish it wasn't 30° here!!
  • I think I had more energy to exercise when I was 6 months pregnant than now. What a drag. I'll never stop jiggling! :(
  • I feel like even if I had the energy to work out I don't have the time. By the time I get LO down, changed into work out clothes and set to work out, my LO is awake and crying. He doesn't take long enough naps to get a work out in. :(
  • So when does this jelly belly thing go away? There's no way that any deity would make this the new normal after having a baby.

@gipfish Google Blogilates, SarahFit, and ZWows - see if one of them tickles your fancy. I liked BodyRock for a time too, they've just gone down in quality in my opinion.
  • You know what YouTube needs? A 20 or 30 minute baby wearing exercise video. I searched and couldn't find one. Anybody want to make one? ;-) But seriously, I wouldn't get interrupted by baby cries that way. Thanks for the suggestions! I've got to beat my hubby at our weight loss competition. ^_^

What if you incorporate him into your workout. Use him as a weight haha. I squat with LO. It's like having a 10lb weight.

    Awesome! I'll check them out.
  • Its just not the same body, we are getting to know each other still lol. Not much fat but the shapes changes. And the jelly belly is super slow to flatten again. But hey, I am ok if it takes 9 months, as long as it goes back flat.

with my breasts, i cant close my coats anymore on the chest, and with the hips/belly I am too tight in my pants, but my thighs got smaller and I am at the same weight as pre-pregnancy.

Does exercice help the belly yo get back to normal faster ? Probably.... I need to do like you girls and start doing more than just house chores and walking :(

Great suggestion! Just did her level one, it's a hair under a half hour so pretty easy to squeeze in and feel like you've accomplished something active for the day!

I also can't wait for warmer weather to start running outside with Jackson. Unfortunetly, it seems like winter is just getting started around here (NY), so who knows when that will be!!!
  • I gained 24# and delivered at 41.4 weeks. At seven weeks PP I am 6# less than pre-pregnancy. (Lost 30) Although my stomach looks vastly different than before! I attribute the weight loss to EBF and having gone dairy and gluten free due to baby tummy issues.
  • Warmed up to 40 degrees here so i just went for my first run since may! Only 1.25 miles and my heart feels like it's going to explode, but hey, it's a start!
  • I joined a fitness competition here at my work.  It's partly on weight loss and partly on things like how many push ups you can do, how fast you can run/swim/bike.  I'm sucking at it.  Mostly at finding the motivation to do anything after work other than cuddle with my LO and homework/dinner/bath/bed with my older daughter.

    Any motivational tips?
