I've had Lillian Elizabeth picked out for a girl since High School nearly 6 or 7 years ago, and now a friend of DH may be naming their daughter Lily and it honestly makes me want to cry. I know we're having a boy this time so we can't call dibs or anything, but her naming her child Lily would make it impossible for me to use that name in the future.
why couldn't you still use it? my best friend and i were going to use the same girl name (the one we used for baby#2), and we were like sisters and living in the same small town and everything. and it is the same name that my close cousin also named her daughter that was born 2 months before mine. there are hundreds of little girls named Lily; if you love the name Lillian (and i so do i; it is such a lovely name!) then go for it!
100% agree! Unless they are close family, I really wouldn't worry about it. You never know if you will even know these people in 15,10 or even 3 years so don't let Dh's friend's choices influence yours. If you love the name and you happen to have a daughter in the future, use it!

I just know that DH expects all of their kids and our kids to be BFFs so I feel like it would be weird having two of them with the same name. DH and these two guy friends have been like brothers since middle school apparently and we constantly do things with them even though I feel like I still don't really fit in with the group. Idk, I guess we'll see what the future brings.
One of my pals is naming her baby (also a march baby, but I don't think she's on TB) Tyrion (after the GoT character, which although *i'd* never, I think is pretty cool. But I also don't think Sirius is bad. :-B *dodges tomatoes*

I think BFFs having the same name would be fun, (just like our two Clares would have likely been; she passed away ). Not really different than a kid named Evan meeting another Evan in school and becoming best friends (and not trying to change your feelings on it – just how I see it/explain it to my husband when he tries to nix a name I love bc we know someone else who used it)
