7 months here and very rarely rolls. And only back to tummy...mayyyybe 2-3x a week. He did tummy to back twice st 3.5 months and then hasn't done this since. He just doesn't seem interested in rolling! I think @janat1717 is right.. As long as they *can* we're good.
@klirwin82 my LO only just in the past week (right after he turned 7m) started rolling from back to front, and it was maybe only in the past 3 weeks he rolled from front to back. I also have a late June baby. Until really just a few days ago, he would always only roll off of his tummy during tummy time. Then just lay there and be happy on his back.
I just did a lot of nakey baby floor time (like, A LOT), and kept flipping him onto his tummy or placing toys (my phone) just out of reach to his sides. I also followed @virginiaunicorn11 advice by holding his upper knee to the ground (gently) when he went onto his side.
@klirwin82 I also wanted to add - I know how hard it is not to compare how my LO is doing to everyone else's, but try not to. Some of these babies are almost a whole month (or more) ahead of us

I'm sure your guy will get it eventually.
@mellymar just reminded me..Typically my guy is naked (or just a diaper) when he does roll! And on a hard surface (vs a playmat for example). Maybe they feel more grounded?

Yes he was in just a diaper and I had spread out a large, really soft blanket over carpet. Just goes to illustrate that each baby is different and yours may prefer one type of texture instead of another (firm, soft, plush, squishy, etc). And while he will now roll in clothing, at first he only would when naked. I also have to give an assist to my cat, who would hang out in a space he thought LO couldn't get to (just out of reach), making LO really work to touch him. If you have a pet, you can enlist their help
ETA and give them a lot of space to work in, if you can
I really hope I don't sound like an idiot here...But how do you ladies count how old your LO is? I go by weeks (i.e. Baby Girl is 24 weeks old, therefore she's 6 months). However, others have argued with me saying she isn't another month old until the 17th of that month (she was born 8/17). The 17th to the 17th isn't always a full 4 weeks, which is why I don't count that way. Am I making any sense here?
ETA: I know it doesn't really matter and I don't spend my days obsessing over how old my baby is. I'm genuinely just curious if I'm that different from other moms.
I think everyone counts on the day they were born. My lo was born on 6/17 so 2 months older than your lo. Technically she is 33 weeks which would be a little more than 8 months. It's also way easier to think about that than weeks.
4 weeks do not equal a month, except for February. If you followed that logic, your LO would be 12 month old in July. It doesn't really matter after a year anyway.
Yes, LO does not advance a month until the 24th of each month. If I went by weeks (example of 52 weeks = 1 year), I would celebrating his birthday 2 days before his actual birthday. Its even screwier when you say 4 weeks = 1 month, because if you go by that, then he is 8m old already, and we still have 19 whole days before his 8m 'anniversary'.
Weeks are just weeks. Its not like you celebrate your wedding anniversary exactly 52 weeks after your marriage. If you did it would be on a different day every year.
I don't even know how many weeks are whatever anyway anymore. I have to check an app somewhere to know. Like @caitlincunn says, its easier for me to say 'he will be 8m on the 24th' when someone asks how old he is.
Haha @mellymar I'm also bummed about missing our due date.. We would have had 3 birthdays on the 17th... These babies with birthdays on the 17th are reminding me that everything started when it was supposed to but lasted a few extra days... Sigh what can you do.
Speaking from my own experience I abandoned weeks when it got too hard to know how many months it translated to for people that were asking and then would go... Uhh so how many months? It's just easier...
And yes I made he mistake of preparing a journal with the "months" without an actual calendar and what a mess. 1 month does not equal 4 weeks.
^^ at least on the 24th it has its own numeric randomness. It's a multiplication number (2, 4), it contains a prime and the first non prime number, and if you add them together it equals 6, which follows its multiplication path (2, 4, 6). I like interesting numbers
Umm, no flaming right?! We didn't buy a house b/c the cupboards were odd numbered and it would drive me insane until it was fixed and DH didn't want to do a kitchen remodel right away.
I like prime numbers. All of which are odd, except 2. So, technically, I got lucky because I ended up with the only even numbered prime number, and the first non-prime number. That's actually pretty interesting, I hadn't noticed it before. The numbers of our address add up to 11, which is prime. I considered that a sign, so no, I don't think the thing about the cupboards is weird at all @alcrimmins
I tend to add things up in twos or four's to the number 16 and DH always calls me rain man. Fun fact: me, DH, and LO were all born on the 16th, different months though!

I think that's so fun! On my dad's side of the family, 5 of us were born on different 2nds and LO was due on my birthday - 6/2. I was so excited and thought it was meant to be...then she didn't want to come out and was born on the 8th instead. I'm still bummed about this.

lol this is funny. I'm not nit picky in this way exactly but I will say that a place could be 100% perfect otherwise but an imperfect kitchen will make me pass. We currently rent so remodels aren't an option
I like LO's b-day, too because it's on the 1st. Would have been better if it was in 2016, but I'm glad I didn't have to wait that long. So glad to hear I'm not the only weird number person - I like combos of all even or all odd numbers, or sequential numbers.

I'm with everyone on the numbers. I like even numbers myself. DH, myself, DD, and LO were all born in even months and DH and I were born in even years but not the kiddos. I actually got to pick both of my kid's birthdays because I was induced both times. With DD they were going to send me in on Dec 28th at night to give birth on the 29th because the Dr on-call from the practice I went to would be someone I knew on the 29th. I opted to go in on the night of the 27th to give birth on the 28th and I said I didn't care that I had never met the Dr before-is that weird? And then LO was due on the 6th but never came so they asked me when I wanted to go in for an induction and I picked the 10th because it was a nice even number AND it was a Wednesday, the same day of the week DD was born. DH thought my reasoning was weird but I figured since I was the one doing the hard work, I could pick days that I wanted!
I was due June 5, and was worried about the date format of Europe vs the US, since we have kind of a split life (eg, June 5 is 5-6 in Europe and 6-5 in the US). I was so glad LO was born on June 6, so it doesn't matter at all! Felt like such a stroke of luck.
@swaugh14 my lo's due date was on my birthday too (June 25). Then she came 3 days late. I was bummed as well since my aunt and I share a bday and LO would have been the third generation to share it.
LO was due 6-8 which I loved because I love even numbers (I'm still super bummed about 2015) and was born 6-2 so I dodged the bullet...her original due date was 5-31-15 based on my LMP and I lost it because of all odds.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
Has anyone found that their lo slept more while teething? I'm not convinced that my lo is teething, but it's my best guess. However he's been sleeping much more - longer naps, awake for shorter periods between naps, and sleeping in longer in the morning. Just curious! I'm hoping he's not getting sick instead. There are some real nasty flu and stomach bugs going around in our area.
I was a number person. Due june 2nd came 5/25 so multiples of 5. I was supposed to be induced 26th but she had other plans, went into labor on the 24th. Honestly was hoping for an even date too. My bday is 6/10/86, so hence the even numbers.
I wish he was sleeping more during teething. I have the opposite problem!
That's why I'm not convinced it's teething!
A while back my guy went thru a couple of days where I began to worry he was sick, loooooong naps while still sleeping the same overnight. Some days he would be ready for a nap right after eating, even tho he had just woken up before I fed him. It passed after a few days / week, I never figured out what that was all about. I chalked it up to a growth spurt. Enjoy it, and watch out - it was not long after that ended that he began to wake up 1-2 hours earlier than usual. 4am wakeup parties kinda suck when you're used to getting up around 645m
I never really thought about it, but LO and I have even months, odd days. DS and DH have odd months and even days. LO and DH have odd years and double digit days, DS and I have even years and single digit days. LO has the only prime number.
So totally random: DH and I share the first 6 digits of our SS# in the exact same order. We were born in different years and different places.
Sort of in the same vein. .. . I once met someone who had the same birthday as me (not all that rare) but we were also the same age. I sort of had this weird instant connection thing going on because we had experienced the exact same amount of life. I always think about him on our birthday and wonder what he is up to.
@mellymar I hope our LOs can meet some day and have that same connection

All odd and there is one number in between each.
