Although.... it’s weird to say I’m happy that you had a meltdown and have been getting sick!!! @lucyb1954 I’m so sorry about all the frustrations. I totally feel your pain. It is so so frustrating. Did you get your blood results? AFM I’m just taking estrace at the moment and waiting for a scan Wednesday to see if I am on track to do a transfer:)

@emmasemm Can't wait to hear the details of your ultrasound!

@hopefuljj Hope everything lines up for you to do the transfer soon.

@lucyb1954 Oh the frustration! I think I have finally started just taking things in stride as not much we can do and don't want the frustration to get too consuming.

AFM: really started looking into the donor programs here in Canada and what I need to look at and how to make a decision on a donor.  Any tips or recommendations ladies? Feeling a bit overwhelmed where I almost feel like closing my eyes and throwing a coin on the print-out of the narrowed down donors and saying voila this is the one.

  • Lolz @Imajin99 at your strategy for picking a donor! I thought you were going to try one more OE cycle, did you decide against it? I’ve been listening to the Half of Me podcast and loving all the different perspectives on it. There might be an episode of it where they talk about that kind of thing. When I’ve thought about it, what it mostly came down to in my head was someone who’s a hard worker, likes to read/curious about the world, and a proven donor. If I don’t make it to egg retrieval this time around, I’m headed to DE.

I have another cycle check on Thursday. Last weeks bloodwork showed a high LH but progesterone/estrogen low, so not close to ovulation yet. Because of my low egg reserves, doctor thinks my resting LH might be higher than normal.

My doctor has had also said that we can start estrace and do an IVF cycle not in line with my natural cycle. Even though my cycles are weird now (it’s CD17 and I haven’t ovulated yet) I still think going with my natural cycle timing will be better.

I’m really grateful to y’all for being my cheerleaders. Even though I know in my head that a lot of couples deal with this, all of my friends seem to get pregnant on their first go and it’s hard not to feel alone ❤️❤️❤️

  • @Imajin99 choosing a donor is so hard. I feel you. There are a few important things to consider. Anonymous vs known being the biggest. I’m deep in the Instagram DEIVF world as well as half of me Podcast and a few others, and it’s hard to get consistent info but a few things seem to ring true. If possible, a donor who is is willing to connect with your child if they choose that is talked about often as a very positive thing. Jana Rupnow is a therapist specializing in 3rd party conception and a great follow on Insta. She collaborated with Alley from half of me podcast on the most recent episode. She also wrote 3 makes baby. But she stressed mostly just being open with your child. Lots of people are limited by the rules of the country they do donor conception in. Ok on another note some people say it’s a good idea to pic a donor with similar physical traits, not because you need them to look like you but so they keep like they belong when they can mirror similar characteristics. I ended up personally being really drawn to my donors responses to questions and her morals....there are so many opposing views here I say just follow your gut. Alley talks about being upset to find out her parents picked a donor that looked like her dad (she is sperm donor conceived) initially and wished they had picked someone kind and smart and funny, but then while she was coming to terms with the shock of finding out she was donor conceived she had to stop and go, wait...but I am kind and funny and smart. So the nurture thing is a huge huge part of it. Ok I’m rambling but another important thing is to try not to stack any negative genetics. Ie if a donor has adhd in the family I wouldn’t care but if the donor does and so does your husband maybe not the best idea. I use this because my husband does and a donor I was considering had.a brother with it. I more so opted against her because I felt she was too young to be making the decision with 100% of her heart and mind. But you get my point, everyone has stuff in your family. You can’t avoid that but don’t stack known genetic issues that are already in your dh’s Family. I could go on and on here but I have to get up in 6 hours to make it to my scan before work! Tomorrow I’ll send over a few podcasts and blogs that I found that cover “picking a donor” they might help. And if not, I fully support just throwing a coin. Lol!!!!

  • @hopefuljj. you weren't writing this to me, but I kind of feel like you were.  I am doing one more retrieval then we will do donor eggs.  I am definetly not as concerned with someone looking exactly like me, but would like them to have green or blue eyes like me and my husband, as opposed to brown.  But I have great eye sight, like insanely good eye sight and my husband does not.  I want my child to have a good chance at also having great eye sight. And I was valedictorian at my college and would love someone who is intelligent and driven, and kind and compassionate.  Its really important that the morals and values and qualities of the donor somewhat match mine. Id love to read in someones package that they are donating because they want to help people as opposed to needing to make some quick money. Thank you for writing all that.  it was very helpful

AFM, went in for a cycle check today. Still waiting on bloodwork but these cysts have really effed up my cycle and at CD20 it doesn’t look like I am close to ovulation. Soooo maybe it’s time to do plan b...@emmasemm would I just take estrace for a couple of weeks and then progesterone for a couple of weeks? Honestly this waiting is doing me in. I just want to be able to do something and I can’t make my body cooperate ☹️

Argh, bloodwork came back and confirmed nothing is budging in my body, I’m nowhere close to ovulating on CD20. Nurse said we could do 10 days of BCP to induce a bleed, or wait until all the cysts have been below 12mm for seven days and start estrace for 10 days and start stims after that. At this point I’m a little inclined to do the BCP and try and speed up the the disappearance of the cysts. @emmasemm is it better for your body to do a couple weeks of estrace and then induce a bleed with progesterone? I asked the nurse to check in with the doctor about it and she’s going to call me back about it because she didn’t offer that option.

Also at at this point any time I type “ov” like over, etc my iPhone tries to autocorrect it as ovarian, ovaries, or ovulation!!! 🤣 oh man, rays of humor in an unfunny situation 🤓 however I am really stoked to hear all this good news from people. Makes me a lil happier inside.

Edit: doctor suggested we do two weeks of high dose estrace and start a cycle as my ovaries are currently quiet except for the cysts. She also said she’s fine with 10 days of BCP, so I told her I’d think about it and let her know tomorrow 🤷‍♀️ Advice welcome!

  • Hi @andreamm31 :). Reading my donors profile actually chokes me up still to this day. And I read through a LOT of profiles. Her reasons for donating compared to what others wrote was the best. Pretty much everyone is doing it for the money, there is no doubt about that but it is also coupled with other reasons for many and I was looking for that. Someone who, yes could use the money, but also could articulate an additional reason.   It wasn’t a deal breaker but I was thrilled with her response. It was basically that as she got older her and her husband had close friends who struggled to have children and for her her greatest joy was becoming a mother so both her and her husband are super supportive of this choice having watched first hand how the struggle to become parents impacts one’s life. She said it way better than I am;)  Her message to intended parent was rock solid as well.
But in regard to picking bases on personality, intelligence etc. obviously nurture is still a huge role here, so we can’t guarantee anything, and we aren’t getting the donor, we are getting basically a scoop into their green pool, so you could end up where the offspring of that donor is more like their brother or parent, you just can’t control any of it, but it does make me confident that I will be proud to talk about her and her qualities if/when I have a child and they are old enough to understand and hear about her.

@lucyb1954 2 weeks of high does estrace...I am not a DOR doctor but that sounds like it would oversupress you big time and lead into a potentially very disappointing cycle.....again not a doctor but...... ugh I’m sorry lady. I know how all of this feels.

  • Thanks @hopefuljj I’ve been thinking about it and I don’t feel comfortable with it either. My doctor said there are some small studies that support that approach with DOR patients but given my crappy response last time I told the coordinator that I am willing to do 10-12 days of regular dose estrace priming but that’s it. Waiting to hear back on that, she may just want me to keep coming in for cycle checks and continue that way even though it’s going to be slow going, which is kind of killing me.

Also...your donor sounds amazing! Money is always a factor...it’s a service, to be sure, no one is totally benevolent (countries that don’t pay donors usually don’t have adequate egg banks from what I’ve read)  but it’s awesome when there’s good intentions in the mix too.

    IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5!    2 5AA 1 6BB  PGS results =  all abnormal :(
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty.  Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval

IVF 5 - Canceled -  looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!!  1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

  • Hi y’all. Just talked to my doctor - we agreed on a week of 4mg estrogen priming and then a blood test for LH, FSH, and E2. If my LH/FSH are still high at that point, we’ll probably go up to 8mg but it seems like a good compromise. Thanks for the fortification @hopefuljj I sometimes really struggle with feeling like a “bad” patient and advocating for myself but I was really worried about too much estrace.

  • @hopefuljj.  Thats beautiful.  And you are right, we are really just seeing a snapshot of their gene pool and nurture takes a big role.

  • @lucyb1954 I’m glad you ended up with a plan you feel comfortable with. Curious on how you take the 4mg? I’ve never taken anything over 2mg at a time but it is taken 3 times a day. That seems to be standard across the board of what I have seen others take.  And good for you for speaking up! You are your own best advocate. That is just the way it is in this crazy infertility treatment world. When something feels wrong, force your doctors to talk it out because ultimately they are here to help you and that includes making sure that you are comfortable with your treatment.

  • @hopefuljj I’m taking 4mg nightly. Flooding my system with estrogen at night sucks because we’re in a heat wave here in Utah and it’s not cooling down at night 😒 maybe I should ask them about doing 2mg twice daily? PS. I’m also excited for your transfer 🤗 yay for new adventures! This is your year!

  • @lucyb1954 I was concerned u might be suppressed too much! Glad u keep advocating for yourself u must! You’re doing the research seeing what works for others and such....I realized that some dr stick to the norm and do what they always do.  Hoping you’ll get some good results!!

@emmasemm do u have ur own Doppler? I see u checking that magical sound often :) I’m so excited for u!!!

@hopefuljj less then 48hrs away and you’ll be PASP!!! I’m so excited for u, I know this miracle is coming!!! So exited to follow ur journey!! Hoping ur coping with this insane heatwave!!  I’m one of the unfortunate ones that lost power so sending all my good sticky vibes now just in case!! U got this mama!!
AND do gkad u found the donor u did sounds just perfect!! I would’ve looked for the same!!
@andreamm31 I’m sure the donor road is hard and I’m with u on the light eyes and even though mine couldn’t be bluer doesn’t seem my LO will have them.....gene pool is just a wacky thing sometimes good luck!

@lucyb1954 well done for advocating for yourself! Fx this is enough to prime and not so much to suppress!

@hopefuljj oh I am sooooo excited for your transfer! Come on frosties!

@andreamm31 I think you got some really great tips above - in the end making the decision itself is very often in life in general the most difficult part, once you’ve made it and are living with it you forget about all the anguish that went into making the decision in the first place.

@jamieh2000 thanks - I’m just a bundle of nerves all the time - never sure if I’m nauseous with morning sickness or nerves  :D

@hopeful_mom actually I didn’t get a Doppler - or at least not yet! I’m a bit nervous about potential harm from them very early, plus how it’s not always easy to find the HB with them before 12 weeks. I also thought I would have ordered one straight away, but I’m also worried I’ll get addicted to it... I mean I can’t sit at work all day using it! But not knowing what is going on in there is driving me a little bit wild!!! I will see how many US and appointments are planned with the high risk doctors later...

AFM well the very light sporadic brown spotting continued on and off since last weeks US (another reason I don’t want them too often right now as it happened with the first one too, but less) however I realized it’s only when I’m standing, sitting in a normal chair (like at work) or walking around. And especially happens if I do things like load the dishwasher or walk around the supermarket... so a quick check with the clinic and they said it shouldn’t make a difference but if it makes me feel better then rest. Luckily for me we have a “heatwave” this week and everyone is encouraged to work from home as our office is a sauna, so I didn’t need to have a discussion about what I want to work from my couch all week.
Also DH has to be out of town next week and there is no way I want to go to our US next week on my own if I don’t have to - so the clinic agreed if our OB has space we can bring the US forward to this Friday - so I’ll be begging for that today!

  • @emmasemm I can only imagine the bundle of nerves you must be!  I hope you get that appointment moved to Friday and I’m glad you are able to just stay somewhat sessile this week.

@lucy1954 I’d ask your doctor if you can spread the estrogen out. It’s in 2mg pills and you take 2?  Or you actually have 4mg pills?

@hopeful_mom hi friend!!! Thank you so much for your enthusiasm! And oh no!!! You lost power?? I’m sorry!!!  That sucks. Thank goodness for the temp drop today because how would you get on with no AC?!!  This heat wave has been no joke!!  Did you not have it yesterday too? I hope you are staying cool!

  • @hopefuljj I take 2 2mg pills at night. Seems like it could be spaced out so I’m going to ask. The tentative plan is for 10-14 days of priming, we’ll have to see if my LH has gone down since I started the estrace. I’m going to advocate for 10-12 days of priming but having a lead follie develop would be disappointing.  I’m thinking about you! Yay for transfer!

@emmasemm and @hopefulmom this heatwave is crazy! I’m glad at least you get to stay home @emmasemm and I hope your power comes back @hopefulmom. I would be so miserable without power right now!

@hopefuljj  Thank you for the links to the podcasts and reads, will be spending time this weekend reading and listening.  I would still like to do a cycle and see if we can ever make it to egg retrieval but I think I have been placing too much optimism on that and need to be realistic and start the DE process.

  • @hopefuljj Thinking about you for your transfer!!

  • Hi ladies! I would like to start out by saying this thread has been my nightly reading for the last few months and wow, thank you all for everything. After finding out about my low AMH a quick google search brought me here and I honestly feel like I know you all. Started on the 1st page and here we are 116 pages later. Thank you for being so open with your journeys. I imagine you have helped more women than you could ever imagine.

AFM, I am 28 and have an AMH of .57 hubby has low sperm count at 1million per ml, he is 25. People always say "oh you're so young you're going to be fine" well the body obviously doesn't discriminate by age! We have been TTC for almost two years and are about to do our first transfer at the end of this month. Our IVF cycle went okay. When we went in for our retrieval we had 12 follies that looked the right size and we were extremely excited. However they were only able to retrieve 7, 4 were healthy enough, 2 fertilized by ICSI and 1 made it to 5 day blast. That one is PGS normal, thank the Lord. We only paid for 1 round of IVF so here's to faith and saying this one is going to stick! Our transfer is scheduled for Aug 20th.

@hopefuljj I have followed your journey through all of this and you are incredible! I believe your transfer is today so please know that you have more people rooting for you than you even know! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

@Imajin99 I really hope your donor process is going well and I am excited to see that unfold! I know it is probably incredibly difficult and a touch overwhelming so prayers to you in making all those big decisions.

@emmasemm I am so thrilled you heard your little ones heartbeat!! I hope you get your ultrasound scheduled with your hubby and don't have to worry about anymore spotting!!!

@lucyb1954 I hope your estrogen priming is going well and that your bloodwork comes back good. If so, what will your next step be??

Not gonna lie, I feel like I'm talking to real-life famous people right now. It's been a rollercoaster and my hubby and I have kept the IVF journey to ourselves. Reading this has brought a ton of comfort!
    emmasemmadiratbakerstreetboysImajin99
  • @hopefuljj YAYYYY when is your beta??? Are you planning on testing early? It's probably bad that I'm already thinking about testing early and I haven't even transferred yet. Lord help me lol!

For my transfer I'm doing IM injections of the estradiol twice a week at 6mg each time, baby aspirin, and PIO five days before (until I get my ERA results back) I'm also doing the Antihistamine protocol so I'm starting prednisone, pepcid, and claritin when I start the PIO. And also Crininone gel haha. Sounds like a lot when I type it all out!!

I did the ERA two weeks ago so it'll be interesting to get those results back!

I did read that my clinic gives a valium too so I'm glad you said that helped you. Are you off work all week?
    emmasemm
  • @meggiehibs you are too funny! Lolz 😆 I remember feeling the same way after reading the thread like these ladies are all seasoned pros and I still have no idea WTF I’m doing!

@hopefuljj so happy! Sending you the bestest, weirdest sticky vibes and heart feels. @emmasemm I’m excited to hear about your ultrasound 😁

AFM after a week of estrace priming at 4mg, my LH is 21, my FSH is 27, E2 is 142, progesterone at .5. Soooo 😑 starting up a 8mg dose, hopefully in the next week we’ll bring those numbers down. If it doesn’t then...we have another conversation and probably skip this cycle. ☹️

@lucyb1954 oh sorry to hear your hormones aren’t budging... hope the higher 8mg dose does the trick.

@hopefuljj So pleased it all went smoothly! I’m going to be on tenterhooks to see how testing/beta goes next week! Hope you have some fun and relaxing things planned in between.

@meggiehibs welcome! Sounds like you’ve got a good plan!

    AFM update in spoiler

We went for the US today - and the good news is little one is growing right on track, placenta developing nicely. Heartbeat was thundering away and the whole embryo was bobbing around on the screen. Such a relief!

We also found the culprit for my spotting and slightly weird cramps - the big splodge of adenomyosis up near my Fundus has grown and is basically trying to figure out what to do with all the extra blood flow and hormones. It’s not affecting the placenta as it’s far enough away - but of course we don’t want to risk a bigger breakdown which might disrupt the placenta/embryo. So I’m officially signed off sick for 10 days on “couch rest” with my feet up, another check on Tuesday to check it hasn’t changed for the worse. It’s a bit more complex than an SCH and it has obviously only become a problem in the last two weeks, but we hope it’s manageable.

I was also officially given my “Mutterpass” today which feels like a huge milestone.

So it’s rest and Netflix until Tuesday - which is US and also the big discussion on screening and testing!

  • @lucyb1954 ugh gosh I really hope you don't have to skip this cycle!!! When is your next blood draw??

@emmasemm Well that is somewhat reassuring at least your little nugget is doing well. Not everything you want to hear but not as bad as it could've been. Hopefully a good rest will settle it down and allow you to have some peace of mind. Is there a way they can treat it with anti-inflammatories or would you need to ablate it?
As far as screening and testing, did you do PGS? I can't quite remember sorry :/ !!
  • @lucyb1954 ugh, I am so frustrated for you! I’m sorry that you aren’t seeing the results that we want.  It is so frustrating to constantly have our bodies refuse to do WhatNot2Eat we want and need them to do.  I hope going up to the 8mg dose sorts this all out and doesn’t over surpress.

@emmasemm I’m so glad little one appears to be right on track!  I am very sorry though that you have to deal with the adenomyosis! So glad you are able to take time off and just keep those feet up!
    Me: Hashimoto Autoimune Disease
    Homozygous MTHFR Cr677
DOR - AMH  .27 High FSH (don't even know how high)
    2 iui's to start - BFN
    IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5!    2 5AA 1 6BB  PGS results =  all abnormal :(
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty.  Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled -  looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!!  1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol
    Chemical pregnancy
    FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN
Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2????   Miscarriage at 8 weeks.  viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal :(
  • @meggiehibs did you get your ERA results back yet??? My beta is Friday.  Trying to just act casual until then. 😂

  • @hopefuljj 🤣 just acting natural right? Too funny. I was in a Pilates class last Friday and the instructor said something to the effect of “remember you’re in charge of the body not the other way around “ and before I could stop myself I said sarcastically “well that’s just HI-larious!”

@meggiehibs my next blood draw is Friday. Also trying to act natural and get something done at work whilst just wanting to start this damn cycle already.

@emmasemm here’s to hoping everything will settle down on its own! Is there anything besides bed rest they can do?
