@Stormiewinter All that food sounds amazing... I think I need to have a Canadian thanksgiving AND an American thanksgiving this year!!

@2goofykids I think you sold me on the rainbow lights... Almost due to buy a new patch and I hated my last ones. I will be on the hunt for the rainbow ones now. I like that it has a probiotic.

@exwk I was thinking be same thing about the flue shot threads.. I opened just one to peek in and quickly left. I've kind of been on a positive vibes only kick the last few weeks and don't want any vaccine blow out to kill my mood haha. I also have a Zappa recipie that I LOVE!! Hooe yours turned out yummy!

@skruhmin Adorable!!! Love the matching pj's.

Also I'm sad to say I still have not felt baby move. In all the ultrasounds she/he moves like crazy but I still have not felt anything. I have been so gassy though that I chalk up any feelings to gas bubbles. So maybe I just don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling.

  • @jlavo888 this LO really likes to kick or punch straight down, so I get a lot of little pops around 'that' area, and it's not gas.  It feels like infrequent little thumps.

So the new ultrasound thread picture... I swear, unless it's my own and I'm there watching it as they take the pictures, I have absolutely no clue what part is what (except for the obvious head/spine ones).  Like this newest one... I'm very certain it's a picture of Wall-E.  Or Johnny Five Alive.  Whichever you're most familiar with.
  • @JLaVO888 so far I really like them! They have ginger in them, and for once I didn't wake up with a stomach ache from my vitals last night! They are large, but no weird after tastes or unpleasant burping after which is fantastic. Hopefully these will help me get on track nutrition wise and I'll start actually gaining some weight!
  • @JLaVO888 we are fortunate dh is from the U.S. and we do thanksgiving with The in laws then... So three thanksgivings for me! Lol.

@JLaVO888 my soup turned out well. Ended up using collard greens instead of kale, it still worked. It didn't tast the exact same as OG but was good all the same. Do you have a link to the recipe you use??

@smushi last weekend I was having crazy pinching feelings around my cervix. The dr did say that was baby moving but to me it just feels like someone stuck tweezers up my vag and clamped on real hard. I want to feel the fun, obvious movements.

@2goofykids I'm excited to try them. I have to be so careful about the timing of when I take these ones or I loose my meal. I have to eat and then wait a good 10 min and then take them. Any other timing combo and I loose everything.

@Stormiewinter Does eating thanksgiving dinner at school with my students count!?! If so, then I guess I get two. But school thanksgiving is not exactly the most amazing ever. Except you get the cutest littler personal pumpkin pie!!!

@ecwk I love collard greens but DH likes it better with kale because they are less bitter. I found my recipe years ago and now just have it memorized. I can post it on the recipie thread if you like. It may be the same one you have.

  • @JLaVO888 if you get a chance, that would be great! Particularly since you've been making it years, you probably have it perfected!!

@ecwk Because I'm too lazy to find the menu thread here it goes:

I use a package of Italian sausage (not in the casings) and half a package of bacon diced in small chunks. Start browning the meat in the bottom of a large soup pan. Add red pepper flakes if you like spicy. Then when there is a good amount of grease and the meat is halfway cooked add a diced onion and sauté the onions with the meat. I like to keep cooking it until the meat is pretty crispy and the onions are completely clear.

Then add the potatoes. I use yellow potatoes and I cut mine in thin circles with the skins left on. You can add as many or few potatoes depending on your love of potatoes. Then I pour in 2 of the 32 oz boxes of chicken broth and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are done.
You may need to add a little water depending on how many potatoes you use. Also add garlic salt to taste. Be carful because depending on which bacon you use, you may not need any salt at all.

When the potatoes are done I add heavy cream(about half a cup-you can add more but I'm lactose intolerant so I just add a little) and big pieces of kale and let it cook for only about 2 more minutes. I like my kale a little crisp. DH likes to let it set a few more minutes until the kale cooks a little more.

I highly recommend the red pepper flakes even though OG doesn't use that in theirs!

  • Goodbye to her and her double negatives... One of my pet peeves.

Sorry for the quick rude remark from me for the day but I couldn't help it.
  • @kynbar5 Picking the same name as MIL is pretty stellar news!! Makes things easy. Luckily our family hasn't been too opinionated about names except my cousin who wants us to name a boy John although we already have three johns on each side of the family... We will not be choosing that name.
  • @JLaVO888 usually in my family people aren't opinionated either but for some reason this time around my mother has decided to not like our name at all. Oh well lol our kid not hers. But yes, definitely picking the same as MIL was pretty awesome! :)

  • Your mom will get used to it I am sure. Are you going to share the name with people outside the family before the birth or keep it a secret? We still have three weeks till we find out the sex so we haven't finalized a name yet. Not sure if we will publicly announce the name with the gender reveal or wait to announce it at the birth. I'm just afraid if we announce it we will want to change the name after announcing it.
  • @JLaVO888 we will probably keep it a secret. Lol I'm one of those weird women that don't tell the name to everyone because I don't want anyone to take it before I can even use it haha. The girl name we're set on no matter what. A boy name, we have yet to come up with anything lol. I guess tomorrow we'll know if we have a name or need to figure one out! We're so excited!

  • Same here... We have been set on our girl name and I have had this overwhelming feeling that it is a girl so we haven't talked too much about our boy name.

Seriously though if I had a bunch I would try making apple rings in our new dehydrator. That would be a perfect snack to take to work. Now I'm thinking of going to the store and buying apples just to try it.
  • @kynbar5 hiiiiii!! Welcome back!!!! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. We're similar to you regarding names. We have a girls name for definite but not sure on boys. And we're not telling a soul until baby is here. Aahhhhh sometimes I get so overwhelmed with how excited and blessed I feel!!!

I've been great. Little teary recently which gets on my nerves but I know hormones are mostly to blame. Example: have you seen that gum ad? About the couple and their relationship? Yup, definitely bawled at that one!!

    How was your trip away??

  • @ecwk I hadn't seen that ad and then Right after reading your post jumped over to my fb app just cuz I'm being a bum today and started scrolling through my new feed and low and behold there it was. I just watched it and cried as well!!! Lately I'm easy to get pissed off and easy to tear up.
  • Had to see what the hype was about.  Now I feel like the heartless wench that didn't cry from watching it lol

I'm gunna try making this for dinner tonight. But I'm going to use grated permission instead of the powder.
  • @ecwk it was a great trip! I haven't seen that commercial but I usually only get teary eyed with my kids lol so @smushi you're not the only one ;)

@smushi it hit me a little since DH and I used to be in a long distance relationship. Also, I think if I watched it today I'd laugh at myself for having cried a few days ago but I can't guarantee that I wouldn't cry if I watched it tomorrow #hormones

ETA @JLaVO888 I liked that Tasty page on FB. Omg I've been watching those videos for ages!! Yum!!!!! And DH really wants me to make the pizza monkey bread, let me know how it goes!!

  • It's the weird things that make me cry, I guess - or better yet, like you say @ecwk random times of hormone surges.  DH and I have been together since freshman year of college, and we did long distance at one point too, but not a twinge or sniffle ;)

Man... all I want is a dang glass of wine right now.  I've been watching Martha Stewart reruns on Hulu all afternoon, and now it sounds like a good thing lol

  • Can someone tell.me if this burning/stinging/itchy nipple thing that comes and goes is an indicator that I may need the pads soon for leakage (they are holding in my amazon box now)....

Also way jelly of you ladies with your appt tomorrow! My OB/rheumy clinic is only once a month and my last appt was 17w5d so I have to wait till oct 23rd for my anatomy scan which will be 21w5d (nobody is counting though)

Well I just showed the ad to DH and definite teared up a little but nothing like the full blown crying fest from last Thursday. Hormones are weird.
DH and I have been together since then too!! :)
I'm stuck watching football (i.e. browsing online while DH and FIL yell at the tv)!

@smushi I wanted a glass of red wine so badly last night to go with my steak but skipped on it. I know some people will have the occasional glass of wine but I can't bring myself to do it. If anything I will just take a tiny sip for the taste.

@ACleanLife24 I was having the same sensations about three weeks ago and was wondering the same thing. Thankfully the feeling went away and I have had no leaking. So maybe it's just hormones or stretching that we are feeling???
  • @ACleanLife24 - let me know if you find out anything! I have been having the same thing happen. Only in one of my boobs though. I plan on asking my OB when I see him again on the 28th.

Yup same here. Only on one side and it's been itchy and stinging but doesn't last long. No leakage though!
