So I like the idea of this article, but with the case of my brother and SIL they were messy when they didn't have kids, and now that they have kids it is an excuse to post these types of articles on Facebook. I always have to bite my tongue not to say what was your excuse BC (before children)

@Kynbar5 This is another Scary Mommy article. Most of them are tongue in cheek and funny, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the one that was discussed the other day.
After kids, that is seriously my house. And with unpacking our house after the move, it's that much worse. We've allowed the boys to destroy our family room with their toys (until we have more boxes under control). But the sippy cups and spoon thing seriously made me nod and laugh.

Ha yeah my dad always makes reference to the BC days. So I think it may be a dad joke :-)
Also to be fair I'm that person who apologizes for the house being a mess, but literally only to my brother and SIL just to rub salt in wounds. Usually it is after the house has been cleaned because I only have them over for events Yeah I know I'm a bad person and I've accepted that.

Although I'm picturing @kynbar5 's house as spic and span and completely in order
Filling: 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup flour 3/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 6-7 med apples(peeled, cored, and thinly sliced) about 7 cups 2 Tbsp lemon juice 3Tbsp unsalted butter, diced egg wash(1 egg whisked with 2 Tbsp milk or water)
roll out dough (recipe below) and place in pan, keep dough chilled while mixing filling. preheat oven to 425.
Stir together brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a large bowl, sprinkle apples with lemon juice(i think we skip this part). Scatter the sugar mixture evenly over the apples and toss to evenly coat.
Mound the apples in dough lined pan, making the center higher than the sides. Dot the top evenly with butter pieces. Brush rim of pie shell with egg wash. Cut vents in top dough and place over the filling. Press edges together to seal. Trim excess dough. Then crimp and make pretty:) Brush the top lightly with egg wash.
Place pie on baking sheet and bake for 15 mins. Lower temp to 350 and bake, rotating the pan as needed for even browning, until the top crust is golden and apples feel tender when pierced thru steam vents, 40-45 mins. Remove pie and cool 20 mins before slicing.
you need crust recipe? I'll give ya that too just in case.
2 2/3 cups flour plus extra for dusting 1 tsp salt 1 cup(2 sticks) cold unsalted butter 1/2 cup ice water, or as needed
Stir together flour and salt. cut butter into flour using food processor or pastry blender. Drizzle a few tablespoons of ice water over the surface of the flour mixture and quickly rub into the flour. Continue to add the water, a tablespoon at a time, just until it holds together when you press a handful of it into a ball. The dough should be evenly moist, not wet, and shaggy or rough in appearance.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly flour floured work surface. Gather and press dough into a ball. Divide dough into 2 equal pieces. Pat each ball into and even disk, wrap well with plastic wrap, and chill in frig for 20 mins.
Working with one disk at a time(leaving second disk in frig.), unwrap dough, place it on a lightly floured work surface, and scatter a little flour over the top. Alternatively, place the dough between sheets of parchment or waxed paper. roll out to about 13 inches for a 9 inch pie pan. It should be about 1/8 inch thick. Press dough gently against bottom and sides of pie pan. Trim overhand to 1 inch.
Roll out second piece of dough in and 11 inch round, then cut vents. Fill and finish according to pie recipe.

Ok, so I'm totally going to sound like an ass on this one To be completely honest with y'all I'm much like the mom that was 1st described in that article. Although in my defense I and my oldest son have OCD issues. It runs in my family. All of my children are actually really big helpers around the house too (put up their own clothes, keep toys put up, beds made before school, my daughter helps with the dishwasher, etc) Also, since I've gotten so used to a schedule and routine laundry, cleaning and cooking are just a normal part of my day. Btw, there's no way I can skip a day on laundry. In one day I easily do 2 loads so if I skip a day I'm just way too far behind. I have to say, I have mad respect (yep, I said it lol) for those of you full time mamas that work all day and go home to do the mom/wife thing because I think it would completely overwhelm me. @kynbar5 mad props for your scheduling and getting the kids working young in life. Like seriously you should write a book on the subject - you'd make millions! And I don't think you sound like an ass in anyway. I'm seriously impressed with how you run your family.

You do NOT sound like an ass, you sound like a superhero. My son is actually really organized and neat as well as us so our house is rarely "messy" (we lived in a tiny Baltimore rowhome for years, so we don't do clutter). It does, however, get DIRTY, and that's what I'm usually apologizing for, but I know people come in and think I'm insane because everything is in it's place. To me, there's a difference between neat and clean. I'm only the former.
I'm getting ready for the daily laundry pile with #2 since he'll be in cloth like his big brother before him. If there's a load of laundry to stay on top of, it's stinky diapers!
This baby does NOT want to cooperate with me! I'm so bored waiting for these last few minutes to pass... Baby was kicking so hard I could see my tummy move! I pull out my phone to catch a video- and baby stopped. What a bugger!

Maybe I'll just start a YouTube channel and y'all can just watch lol. I'm sure y'all would laugh more than anything because my house gets quite amusing at times!

Call The Midwife is something I've never heard of. At least not until @flowerpower5838 just mentioned it. I assume I should check it out.... If it's a tear jerker I'm fucked though, I cry at anything!
Yeah @ecwk you're basically screwed. It's a drama based on midwives in an extremely poor part of London in the 1950s. It's very realistic in how it portrays labor/birth. It's amazing.

What I find funny about my reaction to Call the Midwife is that I was afraid to watch it b/c I assumed it would be mostly dramatic, sad birth stories, but it's actually mostly happy birth stories - and those make me cry even more! Like at every one I start tearing up and literally say out loud to myself alone in my apartment "She/He's so tiny!" FTM. Can you tell?
I have never heard of the midwife show either. What network is it on? Also, there is one person that does drive me crazy with almost every comment they post but I try and ignore them. There are also a few ladies I really relate to and like. I consider myself a regular here. I login on all of my days off but the days I work I just can't so you ladies have me 4 days a week. I comment to anything I feel is interesting but I don't really make initial posts anymore.

As I'm eating a bowl of cereal while waiting for dinner to get done (yes, you read that right lol) my 3 year old comes into the kitchen. I'm chewing on one bite and getting more onto the spoon to take my next bite, he says with a very serious face "stick it in your cheeks so you can take another bite mama!" I seriously choked/spit/drooled because it was hilarious and cute.

Lol I live that article everyday! I have never been a neat or organized person, but working full time and having a child has made things so much worse. I give props to all those mamas out there that can keep their place clean and organized. I literally have no idea how it's Done. (As I sit here on the bump instead of washing the dishes, or doing the laundry or tidying).
On a side note Ds did well at the doctors. The yogurt was enough to stop the weight loss and he even gained a few ounces. Yay! He is still afraid to try new foods (he thinks they will hurt him), but I am hoping with time we can coax him into trying other things.
I think taking the leaves is fine as is a lot of other things people advise not to do. I don't like being handled like a fragile doll. It's my top pregnancy pet peeve.
@2goofykids Sorry you are stuck on the couch. Being lazy is awesome right up until someone tells you that you HAVE to be. How To Get Away with Murder is also one of my fav Netflix shows but there is only one season up so far.
So I'm used to feeling kicks and pokes and flips from my babe. Tonight though there was an almighty prod from inside on the left. It almost hurt! I thought my dog had bumped my stomach but there was a cushion between her and me so it can't have been. It was so strong I was really taken aback. I'm wondering if that was really baby or some sort of spasm and it also got me wondering how strong do kicks get? STMs, any enlightenment? Does it eventually hurt when they kick? At how many weeks?
@ecwk I am 23 weeks and do get some uncomfortable Kicks. Especially if he gets me in a full bladder or my cervix. Sometimes when the baby really stretches out it can be pretty uncomfortable like he is pressing or pinching my sides. Ds was always transverse and as he got bigger his stretching would be a little painful.
I started watching Call the Midwife during my last pregnancy. I can't watch that kind of thing pregnant. I hate crying at stuff anyhow (which is why I'll prob never see Inside Out) … I mean, I cry at Publix commercials when I'm *not* pregnant, so there's just no hope for me LOL It was a really great show, the handful of episodes I did get through though.

I also believe this to be true.
Filling: 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 cup flour 3/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 6-7 med apples(peeled, cored, and thinly sliced) about 7 cups 2 Tbsp lemon juice 3Tbsp unsalted butter, diced egg wash(1 egg whisked with 2 Tbsp milk or water)

Mound the apples in dough lined pan, making the center higher than the sides. Dot the top evenly with butter pieces. Brush rim of pie shell with egg wash. 2 2/3 cups flour plus extra for dusting
1 tsp salt
1 cup(2 sticks) cold unsalted butter
1/2 cup ice water, or as needed
