@KaraEpp16 I'm one of those women who have struggled with weight. My entire freaking life. I lost about 20 lbs shortly before becoming pregnant. I was maintaining at that level and eating what I wanted to eat, just smaller, better sized portions. I haven't changed how I eat since becoming pregnant. I still eat what I want and in the appropriately sized amounts. I will do this my entire pregnancy. I've got about 60 lbs extra sitting on my body so if I need extra calories or baby does beyond what I'm eating (which I doubt since I'm eating plenty) there's lots on my body to take. I may not gain much for this pregnancy and that's ok. People just need to be happy with themselves and the fact that they're creating new life. It's a process. Changes will happen to our bodies; some good, some not so good.
Also, I make my gravy from scratch. I take a tube of uncooked country sausage, brown it down. Add a small amount of flour at a time until it coats all the sausage and has soaked up all the grease, and no more will stick to the sausage (it takes quite a bit). Slowly poor in milk while whisking (burner on simmer) until gravy had reached desired consistency. One package of sausage makes a lot of gravy, but it's a pretty inexpensive meal. And deliciously fattening.
I returned my breast pump to the hospital today (finally). On the way down from L&D I shared the elevator with a guy who I thought might be half heartedly flirting with me. I wasn't sure so I just asked, "So, did you just have a baby?" Him: "My girlfriend did at 6:30 this morning. Well, ex-girlfriend." Me: "congrats!" Him: "that's what I told her. I mean, we're staying friends but I'm not...." Luckily the elevator doors opened so I just smiled, said, congrats again on your baby, and left.
I still don't know whether or not he was trying to hit on me. I really hope not because that's a whole new level of scumbag. Plus, you think this is the time to check out other obviously pregnant chicks? Really? When you just had a baby that you may or may not be telling random strangers you don't want much to do with. Way to win a girl over.
Edited because you need to use all the words in a sentence or it doesn't make sense.
I finally caught up to this whole thread
I can't help but think that maybe that guy was going to say "but I'm not the father..." :P
Can I just say that I love seeing all the tattoos on our bump pictures? I've got 5 and was a little worried how often I'd have to defend being a tattooed mother, but I'm glad I'm part of such a large club! I've seen some beautiful artwork here!
You guysssssss!!!! I was laying in bed watching Netflix last night and for about 4 minutes I was feeling the craziest movements!!!!! It's was so awesome!!
PSA/FYI: I love sharing/seeing our bump pics. But I read that after a certain period of time TB owns the pictures on here and can use them for whatever they please AND you can't go back to delete them (like after 6 months). So I dd'd my HDBD pics.. They had my face and I'm weird about that stuff. Maybe I'll edit my face out.
@indibidule I'm a tattooed mom-to-be! I have 4.5! I say half because my first tattoo has pretty much faded into oblivion. When I was 18 and finally old enough to get a tattoo, I went all in and got a lip tattoo. It faded within a couple months and eventually I'd like a new one there... I also have a Walt Whitman quote across my shoulders, a Margaret Atwood poem just below my right inner elbow, a giant owl on my left forearm, and the word pulse stylized as a heart monitor graphing.
I'm just sitting here eating a jar of pickled veggies wishing they were a burger and fries. sigh. Although, these veggie are mad good. I made them myself.
@hailees I delete mine after a week. After they changed the TOU a few months ago, I don't feel comfortable leaving them up. @indibidule I have 4 tattoos, but they're either covered or not shown in pictures
@vvitchhazel I have large floral designs down both sides (one is my birth month flower and one is DH), a sun on the front of one hip and a moon on the other, and a celtic knotwork design on my right shoulder blade. I had to cancel the appointment I made (8 months in advance!!) for my next one (memorial for my gma and mil) because I found out my birth control didn't work. Mine are all hidden in a t shirt and shorts.
The flowers sound nice! My tattoo doesn't show up in mine, either. I have a quill that is on my left back/side that is writing, "I write these words..." I love it so much. I want more tattoos....eventually.
I have one tattoo that I got about a year ago that's in memory of the miscarriages I've had. I've always wanted lots, but have been hesitant to get any unless they have meaning and I've wanted them for awhile. I plan to get one when baby is born with the birth and name.
Tattoos are so addicting, I haven't gone more than 2 years without getting another one since I was 18. (7 total now, 1cover up) I also chose the birth month flower theme for my back piece. I have a daffodil and water lily for me and DH, and a mum for my, well, Mum lol I was planning a poinsettia for my dad when we finally got the go ahead to start the IVF cycle. I have black feathers with lyrics from the song Black Bird in memory of my angel babies and plan on getting a colored feather after this LO is born since he/she will be my rainbow baby.
I'm saving my child tattoo for a huge back piece when I'm all done with having kids. It will be a take on the tree of life. We're looking at having 2 or 3 kiddos and the stem of the tree will be like those woven hibiscus stems. A twist for 2 or a braid for 3. The stem pieces will become the branches and will be covered in their birth month flowers.
My mom just called and uttered the words every pregnant woman wants to hear, "Do you want me to bring you some Culver's?" LOVE YOU, MOMMA!
What is Culver's?!
I have no tattoos. womp womp.
Culver's is the home of the butterburger! And the best frozen custard ever! It's a Midwest food chain, but I think there are others scattered in random places across the U.S.

What kind of veggies? If you say cauliflower I may just cry. I LOVE pickled cauliflower.

No cauliflower sadly. I made a few jars of pickled cucs, carrots, asparagus, and green beans. So good. I've been nomming them all day.
I'm a tattooed mom! I have 5 two really big ones, a lion because I am a Leo and a mandala on my back! I also have my birth flower with a butterfly landing on it on my foot and a quote, and another flower on the top of my shoulder! Love them all and can't wait to get more!

This sounds like what the guy was trying to do on the elevator with @mg137. Haha! (yes, I laugh at my own jokes!)
