Mine loves the shower curtain. I assume it's the high contrast pattern. But it's still funny when she's fussy and DH says "have you tried the shower curtain?"
Our bathroom vanity has three mirrored doors. If we open the two on the end so LO can see three reflections, it blows his little mind! He's also a Ceiling Fan fan.
I just went to my husbands work for a flu shot and they almost didn't give it to me because I was breastfeeding. WTF. Shouldn't people giving the shot know what's okay?
The boob is a cure all in this house but what happens when I go back to work? I feel bad for all his caretakers... He's a pacifier hater. Luckily he's finally taking a bottle! One thing at a time I guess.

I feel you.. It's nice knowing no matter what .. I can lay down with LO and put him on the boob and it solves everything.. Mom and dad tired and want to take a nap? Grab LO put him in bed with us.. BooB out .. Nap time for everyone. I feel like I use and abuse this power sometimes but it's nice to have... I'm afraid to not have this last resort
I also have a "the boob fixes everything" LO. She hates the pacifier! It's a blessing and a curse. I don't miss having to pop it back in after loosing it in the MOTN. Yet I have to listen to her scream in the car when she's putting herself to sleep.
Anyone started thinking about keeping baby warm in winter? Is it unsafe to put LO in bunting with legs and then into the car seat? I know they aren't supposed to be in puffy coats in the car seat. Maybe a car seat cover instead? Any STMs want to share how they traveled with baby in the winter?

I have a car seat cover. I dress LO in long sleeves, pants, socks, and a light hat. I also use a light blanket over their lap if it's cold enough. I buckle them in and put the seat cover over.

Thanks @lovethatcolosun! Was just thinking about this last night as it gets COLD where I live. Gets COLD where you live, too. Was also just wondering overnight how many clothing items I have with long sleeves and pairs of pants for LO. Not that many, I think. Shopping!
For those of you with 12 week olds how long are they going between naps? And if you stopped rocking them and they are falling asleep by themselves for naps how did you do it?!
This is for all the leaky mamas out there. I recently bought sociology bras from groupon. They were $19.99 for 6 bras. So...they offer virtually no support, and are a thin material, but are light and easy to wear. They are great to sleep in or wear around the house. Since I started leaking again at night, I just pop a couple pads in them. So overall, not a bad price for a comfy option.

About every 2 hours. I nurse or "bounce" her to sleep nearly every time. She's usually too interested in everything around her to fall asleep on her own.

I abuse the power too! It's hard not to. I mean, I don't whip it out in the middle of target or anything. But if I don't have the energy to rock him to sleep for 20 min, boob it is!

Having such a hard time giving up breastfeeding to be on my ppd meds. Besides the fact that I loved breastfeeding him (it was honestly the one thing that just was always super easy for us both), putting LO on my boob was always my go to soothing technique...he only just tolerates bottles. Trying to stay positive and find other things to calm him. Luckily, I just discovered how wonderfully he naps in the swing so that's great!
I have had horrible nausea since last night. I think from a overload of "freedom" at a Toby Keith's Bar & Grille (don't judge, we had relatives in town who wanted wings).
Nah it was probably the fried pickle chips. First time being sick since LO was born. I feel like a bad partner but DH is being very cool about it.

Fleece car seat cover works great! Really never had DS1 in a jacket while we used that..

Now that DD has found her hands, she won't get them out of her mouth. She gets a bath twice a week, but in that in between time, I haven't found a good way to clean her hands besides holding them under the faucet in a kind of precarious way. I also don't think that wipes would get them as clean as soap and water.
Unrelatedly, I breastfed 2 babies without drinking a drop of alcohol. Now with baby #3 I read the Bump and you guys have driven me to drink. I mentioned you ladies drink so DH got me some hard root beer. I think he just wants to lower my inhibitions.
This made me so proud of all of us! Read this yesterday and i am still laughing about it at breakfast today. My mom came to stay when LO was 10 days old and the first thing I sent her out for was BEER! I'm jealous of all of you that manage 2 a day. I'm working too much and sleeping too little, have to ration it to one every other day or so. Just so I am not a hot mess, my body is run down.

I just wipe them down with a wash rag. Probably not the best way. I'm interested to see other answers.
Fear of not having the boob as my primary parenting tool was my motivation for pushing through any breastfeeding frustrations. It worked every time with DS1. Formula and bottles was terrifying to me because of this! This LO only nurses when hungry, he stopped comforting nursing week two. So sad that I can't just whip out a boob to solve everything! kryptonite. Use it unapologetically ladies! And don't worry about bad habits, they'll outgrow it at some point.

At least once a day LO will have a particularly spitty feeding, where every burp includes a splat of baby puke. It gets on his face, or rolls into his neck, or he throws his hands into it. So at least once a day I take a baby washcloth and wet it and wipe his face, neck, and arms and hands. If I'm concerned about his hands being especially yucky - like two nights ago I took him to my old work, which is a bowling alley, and a lot of my old timer regulars were in the bar, plus some girls that I kinda consider my friends (closest thing to a friend I have here, anyway), and if seemed like everybody wanted to hold his hands. Inside I was cringing, like 'omg he eats his hands and you've put your bar germs all over his hand' but I didn't want to tell anybody to stop cause I don't want to drive myself or anyone else crazy being germ mom. And also, everybody luckily was going for his right hand and he usually prefers his left. But when I got home, before I even took him out of his carseat, I got a washcloth, wet it, put a small dollop of his Burt's bees baby wash on it, scrubbed it together to make it soapy and wet another washcloth with just plain water. Went back and scrubbed his hands with soapy washcloth, then 'rinsed' with plain water washcloth. I used each corner of plain water washcloth so he got more than one rinse so I could not worry about any soap being left on his hands.
There was a week where I could NOT get LO's fingers clean - black stuff under his nails. So so gross. So I've started making sure to cut his nails short. I do the awkward hold under the sink, and use wipes on him twice a day.
I'm a nail biter so kind of think it helps to build immunity, but I know I'm going to rethink that and feel terrible the first time LO gets sick...
As my FFFC this week showed, I clearly am not a germaphobe. I am rarely grossed out by germs and things, especially considering working in a hospital and being exposed to everything under the sun. I plan on being the same way with LO. don't get me wrong she won't be the smelly kid in class but...dirt under her finger nails? Ehhh it comes out in her bath (when I remember to bathe her?) who knows. I'm sure this is an UO so don't think I'm telling you you're wrong for caring that your kid is clean, haha!!

I just had a GREAT nap. I fell asleep pretty easily, and deeply. One kid came in and woke me when he woke from his nap but I sent him to find daddy and immediately fell asleep again. I slept deeply enough to have (good!) dreams and woke by myself according to my sleep cycle, not a crying baby. Now I'm still in bed enjoying that post-nap feeling waiting for baby to wake.
I'm trying to NOT be a germ-phobe, which is why I just let everyone hold his hands even tho I have no idea what they had in their hands last - the old timers may have been bowling, so their fingers could have been in bowling ball holes. Two of those girls smoke, they could have had their own mouth cooties and / or smoke on their hands. My former boss held his hand and probably hadn't washed his hands since he came out from behind the bar... My brain was going 'ew, gross!' but I strangled that and shoved it down, repeating to myself 'it builds immunity, it builds immunity. I'll compromise and let this continue as long as I'm here, but wash his hands when we get home, before he goes into hand sucking overnight time'
I WANT to say I'm not going to worry when he eats dirt, but my background in veterinary hospitals lets me know just how yucky dirt is. Hookworms, roundworms, pinworms, giardia anyone? :-&
