A young teacher at my high school dated a guy with long hair named Trapper. He was built like a cover model for a romance novel. I thought it was a sexy sounding name.
Haha oh man, working with kids in the past I've seen so many.
1) A surprisingly common one: Abcde (ab-sa-dee)...because, the alphabet is easy to remember?
2)La-A. (Now, I know you're thinking that might be pronounced lay-uh, but nope, it's pronounced "la-dash-uh"...because they decided to pronounce the hyphen "dash"...this one actually upset me lol)
3) shithead (pronounced shi-theed...they did this because they thought it would be funny)
4) pepsicola
5) al'queda (pronounced like the terrorist group)
...I might have blocked the rest out of memory. *sigh*
I managed at a portrait studio inside of a Walmart when i was younger and got all sorts of interesting characters...at the same time I was a teacher's aid in an elementary school. I can tell you I have come across Abcde multiple times, "la-a" once (not making fun of African Americans, all of my nieces and nephews are black and their parents gave them names that made sense. It's not a race thing, it's a people who speak English should know better thing), and i worked with a guy who named his son shithead. They waited to find out the sec with the deal that if it was a boy, he'd get to pick the name. He spoke English just fine, but was a stoner idiot who thought it'd be funny.
I can't count the number of names I came across that made me roll my eyes. With random silent letters that didn't make sense. Hyphens and apostrophes. Etc. Hopefully these kids have good solid middle names that they can use for job resumes in the future
One of my coworkers was talking about their neighbor boys at lunch one day. He mentioned they have a Jack and Jameson. I jokingly asked if they have a Jim(my), too. I kid you not, the three boys are Jack, Jameson, and Jim (whiskey, anyone?). All three names are great on their own, but you can't deny the side-eye value when you hear the three together!
I'm new to the group, I will have my second son in Oct. 2015. We are naming him Bruer, but I can't seem to find a middle name that I like. Wondering if y'all could help out and give some suggestions!☺ Thanks
My mom was a teacher and had a student named Female ("fee-mal-E). The parents couldn't read and thought the nurses had named her on the hospital id bracelet. Kind of sad.
The other two were married last names: Joy Weed and Crystal Dick. I probably wouldn't have changed my name!

This is literally the identical situation to what my mother in law had in her class!

Given the statistics on those names, (abcde is pretty much the only one recorded ever) I find it hard to believe you've seen every single one of them in real life.
Deep in my family tree there's a couple girls with names that make me sad. One of them was Grateful, another was Comfort
I knew a lady named Comfort. She was from somewhere in Africa, though I don't reca where. I met a lady named Purity when I travelled to Kenya as well. In places that were colonized by Britain, I think it's pretty common to use such attributes as names. We commonly use Faith, Hope, and Joy as names, with Chasity, Prudence, and other attributes no longer as common.
Working at a Drs office I come across a lot, there were music teachers with quads named Harmony, Lyric, Melody and Rhapsody....on their own some aren't bad, but as a group not so sure. We also had triplets Holly Molly and Dolly last name Wood.
I have a cousin named holly wood! I didn't think that was a thing anyone but my crazy aunt did!
I knew a lady in my church growing up whose maiden name was Beverly Hills.
Just remembered: I worked with a girl named Cinnamon. She really hated it because she knew people wouldn't take her seriously. My cousin named her daughter Zuki. It has something to do with Godzilla or something? I've got a friend with the last name Tan. As a teenager, he joked about naming his children "Son Tan" and "Anita Tan." Anita Tan still cracks me up.
There's a cashier at my local Food Lion whose name is Cinnamon. At least I'm assuming that's her given name and not a nickmsme - that's what's on her name tag anyway.
I used to work at a hospital and a gal had the name La-a. I pronounced it La ah but was informed it's Ladasha.. Um ok? I also know a kid Gator short for Gatorade. :-?

We have a Holly Woods in the family. A girl who went to my high school years before me was named Sunshine.

That's entirely fine. Not looking for any sort of validation that you believe me...you're just a random stranger on the Internet, haha. I was just sharing ones I've come across because that's what the post asked for.
Shithead was the son of a stoner coworker. Abcde was in a class I student taught for in college. La-a came in when I worked at a portrait studio at a Walmart, and pepsicola was an adult customer and regular at another job i worked at.
A guy my husband went to high school with named his son Blip, to this day every time dh sees this guy post on fb he brings up how ridiculous he thinks it is.
I also had a girl I taught with crazy apostrophes ani'yjah and her sister was bri'ana. I know there are other crazy ones but my pregnant brain isn't working!
I live in LA and have waited on some celebrities with their kids and sometimes they have really crazy names. Two of the best were Audio Science and Bear Blue.

Yeah, so much that you posted two comments, with the first half quoting the racist urban legend I posted earlier in the thread and the second that basically pulled a "but I have black friends" card.
I'd argue that the post asked for actual names, not urban legends.

No.
I mean really claiming to have heard one of these names from someone else is one thing but all of them? Stop copy/pasting chain emails for attention. @BlinkBaby go back and read wassuphoes' link. Seriously EVERYONE has heard this stupid racist shit before. Come up with something original.
Now to actually contribute- my sister went to high school with a lot of kids that were huge fans of Tolkien apparently. Two brothers named Bilbo and Frodo, then separetely an Arwen and Eowyn as well.

I used to teach Pre-K and at the home visit we would give each parent a paper GTKY paper to complete about their child. One question was the meaning behind their name.
The most memorable one was for a little girl. It wasn't her name that was so funny, it was her mom's answer. She said she named her La'Faith because Faith is from the bible and La is from her sister La'Crystal.
My mom had a student named Doctor. And I forget the ladies' actual names, but in my dad's line of work he had twin sisters: Ann Marie One Smith and Ann Marie Two Smith.
My sister worked for a ophthalmologist and treated a kid whose name was La-a. I knew a kid down the street named Pajama. I also worked with a Lemon and her sister was Clementine.
I knew a woman named Misty Dawn as her first name, I don't know if she spelled it together or apart though. Her sister was named Mercedes but now goes by Raven with an equally weird last name but I'm not a fan of giving out peoples last names on the internet. I also had a friend who named their little boy Stetson. Which I guess in Idaho wasn't that weird since it's a popular western hat brand but still... I feel like I've met a few other ones but I can't remember them.
edited to add Sunshine! When I was a cashier a woman came through the line and said her babies name was sunshine. but I honestly thought it was cute, Her mom was incredibly sweet and the little infant was so beautiful I could see her being a sunshine.

I wonder if it was the same kid- did she teach in nj?
There's a guy at my work named Ulysses S. Grant. I guess since his parents' last name was Grant, they thought it would be cute to name their kid Ulysses S., because why not?
I met a Holly Wood. I was working at a "Hollywood Casino" and checked her players card and said "they seem to have forgotten to put your name on it". She says "no- My momma always knew I'd be a star"
I've also known a Blue, a Cairo, and a Morning Star. One of my good friends is a Zena. As long as it isn't something vulgar, why not go a little crazy? At least no one else will have the same name
