Re: UO (June 4th)

  • I think being ok with your husband going to a strip club and getting lap dances is so odd. No, it has nothing to do with "trusting" him it has to do with respect. Likely, you wouldn't be alright with some woman climbing all over him at pool or restaurant but because he pays her and it's at strip club makes it ok? like, what?!

Eh. Would I beg my husband to run out to a strip club? No. Would I go nuts if he went with a guy friend once in a while? Nah. Strippers get paid to do what they do. A random girl out at a bar doesn't have any reason to be all over my husband. The stripper is just trying to make a living. Of the strippers I have known, they don't develop physical attachments to their customers. It's just a job.

All feminists probably hate me, but it is what it is.

this is my point. it's acceptable because she's paid? so money has to be exchanged or it's across the line. lol. i'm not talking the morals or ethics of strippers, I'm speaking of it in marriage. it's not my husbands job to fund the strippers. fwiw, i'm not "begging" my husband not to go because he doesn't understand why a dude would pay to have blue balls anyway and besides the fact that it's unacceptable to have a woman other than your wife grinding all over you. it's one of those socially acceptable things that just doesn't make sense to me.

It has nothing to do with her being paid. It has to do with it being her job. Maybe you see that as the same thing, I don't. It's just a personal preference. If my husband wants to go once in a while, it's just NBD to me. He actually doesn't go, but that's his choice. I wasn't speaking of the morals or ethics either. I didn't say you were begging either, it was my phrasing of saying I don't push him to go but don't care if he does. I'm not sure twisting my words or throwing in "lol" was the best debate on this, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't read what I said correctly.

This is a little bit off topic, and I'm not sure that you can answer it for me. I suppose it is quite rhetorical but I was hoping you wouldn't mind to explain to me. And BTW, I don't disagree with what you're saying. But what I don't understand is the saying that I hear all the time, "it is what it is." I've never actually heard someone say, "it is what it isn't." Maybe I just prefer it better in French, c'est la vie sounds so much nicer ;-)

  • ^^^ I honestly don't know, it's one of those things I've always said and never really thought about. I agree, c'est la vie is much better!
  • i'm not understanding what you mean when you say it's not about being paid, it's about her job. how are those not one of the same?
  • girl needs to be a legit stripper? and not just a wanna be stripper?

Girl, $1600 would get you a studio in SF area! I'd diiiieee for a 2 bedroom at $1600 right now but we pay that for our 1 bed. When we moved here we had to throw out our dining room furniture and TONS of other stuff :( and then we had to buy things to accommodate this space. It was awful and I cant wait to move again. In New Orleans we paid hundreds less for a huge 2 bed with extra rooms.
And this is why my dream of living in San Fran will NEVER happen. We pay $1700 for a 2300 sq ft house - 3bed, 2.5 bath on a greenbelt. I could never imagine trading it for a tiny little apartment for the same price! I have no problem with tiny little apartments - I've lived in them all my life ... but not for that price! Ouchie!!
So jealous. I want more space badly. We will have to more to a 2 bed in the area (bc of DH's job) when baby comes and it'll be at least $2,300 at the cheapest for an apt in a tall crappy old building. And i'm not even IN SF.

Edited to add- SF is gray, windy, and cold! Move somewhere tropical and fun :)
  • The strip club post started here, then it was made into a poll.

This whole thread is getting repetitive, though.

Anyone have a never voiced in this thread in any fashion UO?

  • I hate sushi and pretty much all seafood, and animals from the sea. I prefer land creatures. There is a new UO to this thread.

Also not a fan of destination weddings where it costs $2000 to attend a small intimate event.

I will always love the Knicks and will not hang my head in shame.

    And the Rangers.

I get thank you letters after a shower or a wedding, but not after a funeral. Give the grieving family a break.

  • @CMDD I know you said you mean "herding," but "hoarding" might be equally appropriate.

@duckinoven I feel like a destination wedding is a "I don't want everyone to come to my wedding" kind of thing, and a "it's cheaper than getting married traditionally in my state" kind of thing. That being said, I love attending when I can. I wonder if that will change when this wee one is born.

@redfallon how do you put your phone on lock so they can't exit the app? Everyte we FaceTime daddy, my DS manages to exit FaceTime at least 10 times per call. Is there an iPhone app that you use?

One of the ladies in my other BMB showed a bunch of us how to do it. It is under:

    Settings> General> Accessibility> LEARNING Guided Access> Guided Access <-- turn that on.

Then when you are in the app you want them to stay on, triple-click the home button. When you want to get out of it, triple-click again and you'll be asked to put in your passcode.

I use my iPad for therapy with preschoolers. Guided access is the best thing ever :)

Ok we can be friends for this, too. I don't care about basketball, but I LOVE my Rangers. Even if they didn't show up to game seven last week, but WHATEVER!

@erikaalzet absolutely true and I'm fortunate enough to be able to attend and honored to be invited.

When it's a year full of destination weddings, baby showers, bday parties, bachelorettes, I just get tired of having my vacation destinations dictated.

That said, I would totally encourage a destination event anywhere other than Mexico!
  • UO- Tom Brady is innocent and people are just jealous. He has one of the hottest wives on the planet. Plus, they're both really nice. They used to live a couple blocks from me and they play with the kids in the local parks and interact with all the other parents like normal people.
Show me the evidence that he wanted balls under 12.5psi? And, FYI, anyone who lives in New England (and my guess would be everywhere else) can tell by your car's tire pressure meter that the tires deflate depending upon the barometric pressure.

Are you looking at Bolingbrook, by chance? That's where we live. In a 2500 sq ft house, and we are already thinking about finishing the basement.

Ok I'm sorry to disagree but I hate Tom Brady. Not because I don't think he's a good person but because I'm a Jets fan. :) Hubby is a Cowboys fan. Last game of the season before my due date..... Cowboys VS Jets. No shit life has a sense of humor!!

No, I live in Arizona. Bolingbrook is in Illinois right? My husband and I both grew up in Illinois and are fans of all the Chicago teams, but met and live in southern az :)

Gasp! I can overlook this flaw in your character for the meantime ;-)

@Karawe Gag! Haha but seriously, Kristen Cavaleri doesn't believe in vaccinations that I could go on a different thread. I'm in Chicago all the time! Well, maybe not all the time but about every other month. I may not be a big fan of the Bears, but… If the patriots are not going to win, the bears are my second choice. Funny story from when I was little. It was 1986 and the bears are playing the patriots in the Super Bowl. I was up late watching with my dad and yelling "go feridgerator!" For that player whose nickname was the refrigerator. My dad kept trying to get me to stop because he was like no no they're not the right team! Gosh I miss my dad, it'll be six months tomorrow.

  • Come on guys, there's no other lions fans here? Like they're def going to win the super bowl next year, no question, they're way over due. Lol
  • All Chicago here! Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and GO BLACKHAWKS! I'm a firm believer Chicago teams will only win a championship if the coach has a mustache.

@magburt I feel like it was trying too hard to be a movie like Can't Hardly Wait or She's All That. I think by 2004 I had my fill of teen movies.

Also UO, I bought Lindsey Lohan's second album and loved it. Mwahahaha.
  • @rain0831boww while I hate the Blackhawks I love coach Q and his cute little mustache. image

My actual contribution to the thread: I hate country music. And cowboy boots and hats. And nasty big diesel trucks that just pollute everywhere (those stupid people who 'roll coal' - WTF?!?)

NOT an UO in my opinion. Of course, I favor the Bruins… However, since there is speculation as to who I am I cannot say much, but I will say that I have close relations to the Blackhawks...

Definitely San Fran, NYC and Boston are the worst!
    Nope, London is.*

2 bed, 2 bath starter home here will set you back $2 million if, like us, you're happy to take on a fixer upper :)

Oh and don't forget the extra $140k cash on top of the 2mill that disappears straight to the gov't as "stamp duty" in order to make the purchase legal... there goes the budget for your first round of renovations!

I'm from nyc, and never thought I'd look back on it as an affordable hometown.. sigh. Too bad I love this place so much. All we need here is college basketball!

(* excluding property in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Monaco and anywhere Swiss - they're all worse than London).
  • Lurker here! My UO is about the"bloat" everyone keeps talking about. I do not agree that it is always bloat like people keep insisting!

I am on my second pregnancy and my stomach has been popped out since 8 weeks. My doctor said it is my stomach muscles relaxing earlier because they have been stretched before. It is consistent, but I even tell people it's not baby, as my uterus is still very low at 13 weeks. I do not know what the name for it is but I wouldn't call it bloat......
