At the beginning of the year, when i found out that I was pregnant, I saw a question on here similar to the one that I am asking. I tried finding it again, but haven't... So! What is your job/occupation? And adding to it, when is your last day of work before your due date!?

I just recently got hired at kaiser as a pharmacy technician. My manager has been a pain though... I have a high-risk pregnancy (baby has gastroschisis) so my doctors want to constantly check up on me even more now that I'm in my third trimester and my baby has that congenital defect. My manager isn't fair to me because she hasn't been allowing me to have a schedule to accommodate my many doctor visits (regular obgyn visits, specialist visits at the diagnostic lab, pediatric surgeon visits). I have no idea what to do about leave since this is my first pregnancy.. :( I'm hoping my doctor will tell me I need to be out in advance to tend to my personal needs and baby's needs...

  • I stay at home but I do a lot of work for church. Like making communion bread and teaching. All kinds of things like that so it keeps me busy. :)

  • I was working at a factory making cloth but they closed down and hubby and I both got laid off. I got pregnant not long after the layoff, and my first trimester I was high risk. Things have calmed down pregnancy-wise, but I have just been taking it easy. I know, I'm so lazy lol. Hubby started school, which the lay off helped out with because the government offered people two years of schooling. I plan on returning to full time work after the baby's born.
  • I'm a SAHM now but before I had my daughter I was working as a licensed esthetician. I still have my license in case I want to go back at some point so I don't have to retake my state boards.

I like my career but didn't like my job, so the only way I would go back is if I found some awesome place to work by chance.
  • I'm a nurse on a cardiology unit I plan to work until she comes or I just can't take it anymore

  • I'm a medical social worker, mostly working in the ER and our Women's and Children's Center. I make my own schedule, so am scheduling til my due date. Will pick up hours if I'm late, and they will just have to do without me if I'm early. The only thing that sucks is ER shifts are 12 hours which I imagine will become a bit much at the end... But at least I'm in the right place if anything happens!

I'm a nanny. I used to be a high school foreign language teacher in an at-risk school but DH and I decided to change our lifestyle to something more simple and slow paced. It's been a great change and, after 3 years of nannying, I really have no desire to go back to the crazy hours that I had to put in as a teacher :-) Plus, my pay cut was pretty minimal as I scored a great job due to having teaching experience :-)

ETA: I will work up to when my family goes on vacation and will hopefully have the baby while they are gone. After about 6 weeks, I'll return to work. I only work 1-4 hours a day, Monday-Friday so I'm hoping that makes it easier. Plus I'm going to possibly be bringing the baby with me some days.

  • I'm a medical laboratory scientist. I'm transferring to a brand new lab at the beginning of July. Baby is due on August 22nd, so I plan on working right up to the day she's born because I will be a lead at this lab and want to get as much under my belt as possible before I go on maternity leave!
  • I'm a vet tech. It's getting rough with this big 'ol belly and 10 -12 hour days on my feet but I'm working until baby is born.

Therapist-Counselor-LPC ... I've been on maternity leave since April 2014, haha!! Early last month, April 2015, I decided I was ready to go back but figured I better wait until #2 arrives. Not sure if I'll take off an entire year again with #2. We aren't too bad off financially, but we would like our play money back!! We'll see...
  • I was the circulation manager and student worker supervisor in a library at a private university, but my last day was Friday (I got laid off).
For now, I'm preparing the house for our baby while getting some of my writing done. Depending on what kind of promotion my husband is looking at this summer, I may be getting a part time job a couple months after our little girl is here to help with the bills.

  • I'm a medic, but have been off the ambulance full-time since July 13, 2012 when I was put in the hospital with DD#1. Now I'm full time department coordinator and part-time on the ambulance. I miss the craziness of being a 911 medic, but I know I'd miss my family more. I'll work up until my doc says no more since I'm high risk, then I'll be going back 12wks after she's born.

Well when I first was pregnant I was a Manger at a retail store. But in December we learned our store was going to shut down by January.
I really wanted to find something that was going to be a little bit more steady and hopefully would go with my early childhood education degree.
I was offered a job as the director /coordinator for a children's nursery. I love it. It's mostly at home work with once a week going in and making sure that it's running smoothly and is clean and tidy. Also once or two times a month my husband and I go in and run it for the day. Good practice :)
So when little man is born when I do have to go to work he can just go with me.
  • I'm a surgeon. Planning to work up to 2 weeks before due date and then taking 10 weeks after. Cutting back on big surgery 1 month before due date as I don't know how well I'll be able to handle the physical demands at that point.
  • pastry chef turned SAHM turned business pastry chef owner from home- rewarding but very difficult working from home!

  • I was a personal care assistant in a primary school and getting the crap beat out of me daily. Ttc and felt I needed to resign for my health and safety. Started substitute teaching in the same district and became pregnant the next cycle. Totally a God thing. I now am a nanny for my 6 month old niece and that will end June 8th when school lets out for the summer. I'll be a SAHM when the baby is born.

Career counselor at a large public university. Working until I deliver and then taking probably 14-15 weeks off.
  • I'm part of the kitchen staff at a retirement community! It's not glamorous, but I genuinely love what I do. My EDD is August 16, and my leave was approved to start on my previous due date, August 10. I may pick up some extra shifts and request that my leave not start until I'm in labor, or I may just let my leave start on the 10th. It all depends on how DH's job is going and how I'm feeling by then.
