Drinking wine/liquor

Re: Drinking wine/liquor

  • My head hurts just reading this...really starting to dislike this group as a whole. If there is any risk to your child, just don't partake. It's very very simple. It is not hard to NOT drink for the duration of your pregnancy. Any risk is a risk.

Please refrain from eating all processes fm foods, riding in cars, walking down the street, watching a thunderstorm, they all have risks.
    That's the dumbest argument ever.
How so? Isn't your argument if it poses any risk don't do it? All of those things pose a risk.

  • If you need liquor that bad while pregnant and you have to boil it to remove the alcohol. Yes, you're probably a bad parent!

    You're precious.
    Aww, thanks! Xo

Boiling alcohol because you crave the taste and having a half glass of wine once a week as you near your due date are not the same things.
    Obvs!

Why risk it? There are no compelling responses in this thread to do so (including the empty comparisons between drinking alcohol while pregnant and riding in a car...) Just because someone consumed alcohol during their previous pregnancies and nothing bad happened is like saying I pulled the trigger twice and the chamber was empty so it must be ok to do it again. The evidence is stacked high against it and those who say there are none are in denial. Do what you please but don't falsify the facts. Again, why risk it?

    This just isn't true.

This is one of several large studies that has showed NO adverse effects (not low risk of adverse effects, NO adverse effects) to consuming a small amount of alcohol in pregnancy.

I am an educated adult capable of doing my homework and doing what is right for me and my child. If i thought there was any risk involved in having a half glass of wine on occasion later in pregnancy, I wouldn't do it.
    There are risks. https://www.theguardian.com/science/sifting-the-evidence/2014/sep/17/evidence-alcohol-pregnancy-health-giving-birth-boozing

"And doing what's right for my baby" okay so it's right to give a baby a half glass of wine all of a sudden.. it's the same thing. What you take in the fetus does as well. It's not right to give any child alcohol. Ever. And it's also not necessary to drink while pregnant so your damned if u do damned if u dont.

I could honestly care less what anyone does with their own body it's not mine.
I do think 90% of arguments on here are completely pointless. And that arguments like this really make people sound careless.
  • Wait a minute... so doing shots of whisky is not safe for the baby?

Its careless to go through the scientific research and come to a decision me, and my doctor, are completely comfortable with? For someone who couldn't care less what anyone else does with their body you sound awfully judgmental.

I didn't say they were careless. I said sounded careless there is a difference but if the shoe fits then have fun wearing it.

  • Some doctors may say a glass of wine here and there is safe and maybe it is, I'm not a doctor. However, just because children were exposed to alcohol in the womb and are healthy isn't really a good enough argument. Who knows what that child may have been without being exposed to alcohol? They may be fine, but maybe they could have been the next president had they not been exposed to alcohol. I'm not saying it's right or wrong to have a glass of wine here or there, we should bubble wrap ourselves until delivery or that alcohol is the worst thing in the world. I'm just saying maybe we don't know as much as we think.

FAS means fetal alcohol syndrome. I can only guess by the OP's question that her mother also drank when she was pregnant.

My goodness you are a special someone! Get some KFC in your life and try to calm down a smidge.
I have kfc in my life. For the record this is the only time i've turned the snark up to 11 because I don't have patience for people who are considering drinking while pregnant, aside from a half glass of wine in the 3rd trimester. The constant spotting posts dont even phase me because at least those women are worried about their babies.

    Ohhhh shit
    So true.
  • KFC is full of oil, grease, cholesterol, and poorly make cafeteria food. Ew. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that a bunch of women who are ok drinking while pregnant would also subject their unborn child to such tasteless, harmful food. Ew.

    WUT?

...calling my mom to bitch that I can't be the next president because she drank a class of wine while pregnant with me...
Good luck. Hope it goes well.
  • FRE is a brand they sell at Wegmans. I took the Brut version to work for our NYE shift and my coworkers were like, are you sure there isn't alcohol in this?

  • All of this is ridiculous... Entertaining... But ridiculous! Some people will find drama anywhere! Hoping you ladies can find the good in this Novemenrr discussion board instead of contributing to the drama... You've said what you've needed to say, take your argument elsewhere! I bet if you met in person eventually the two of you would be best friends... Haha
