March 18 - TWINS! Violet 3lbs 15 oz, and Jax 4 lbs 6 oz Babies are getting stronger in the NICU each day and praying to take them home soon. So in love with my little angel babies.
Just wanted to make the announcement that Baby Jagger has decided he was ready to come to this world early and made his big debut yesterday, March 25th, 2015 at 9:56 pm. He was born at 6lbs, 5oz and 19.5 inches long. His original due date was May 3rd. Even though he came early, the doctor assessed that we may have been off count and his body size is closer to 36 weeks than 34 weeks.
The story:
We had a doctors appointment yesterday at 3:15 and everything was measuring fine, made plans to do gbs testing in two weeks at next appointment and start cervical checks at that time as well. About an hour and a half later, I get the sensation to use the restroom. I got done flushed and then felt a little pop and more liquid coming out. I thought, oh maybe I wasn't done after all, sit back down. Get up, more of a persistent stream of clear liquid, mildly sweet-no scent. I knew right away after all the reading that my water had broken. We called the doctor, went in right away and he was a little skeptical that my water had broken until he checked my cervix and I was 4cm dilated! We immediately went to labor and delivery. My birth plan had been to labor in water after I reached 5cm and to deliver naturally without any medication for induction Or pain. I was not able to labor in the tub because I had not had my GBS test, and I had to IV to give me antibiotics in the event that I was GBS positive. Because he was early and because the doctor felt it necessary to make sure move along after my waters had broken, he also started me on the lowest dose of pitocin which meant continuous fetal monitoring. I went from 4cm to 9cm within about 4 hours on the lowest dose. I did deliver naturally with a very mild tear and we now have our beautiful baby boy. He was doing well at first but as they were doing the initial exam in the room the nurse noticed he was having some trouble breathing (little grunting noises). He was then taken for observation. After bloodwork, they think may be fighting an infection. He's is Nicu but doing well, has good color and is on a very low oxygen support level. They are waiting for the results of his cultures and to see how he does with the antibiotics but he could be in nicu for anywhere from 3 days to a week, depending on how he does with the antibiotics. Any thoughts and prayers are appreciated!
**update**
I was discharged yesterday and am home now. LO is still in Nicu. They started feeding him what I can produce reinforced with some preemie formula. Even though our love is a sturdy size, he is still adjusting as a preemie would and needs help strengthening his lungs. Doctors said it'll be a week before he comes home unless he shows that he's doing much better. Thank you all again for all your wishes and T&Ps. It's really difficult to leave him there but I know he's in the best care and we live about 10 minutes from the hospital so we can go and come really easily.
Evelyn was born Easter morning, April 5th, at 9:29am. She was born at 35w2d and weights 5lbs 2oz and is 18.25in long. She is doing great--really no problems at all--and the delivery was so quick I didn't even have time to get any meds. We couldn't have asked for a better day!
We welcomed our twin boys this morning at 33 weeks. Marcos Steven was 3 lbs 11 oz and Mateo Santino at 4 lbs 2 oz. Both are in NICU but doing awesome. They came naturally and vaginally. Good luck to the rest of the moms.
I welcomed my daughter Isabella Rose at 34 weeks and 4 days on March 26th , she was a whopping 7 pounds and 5 ounces I think due to celestone shot (steroid shot for her lungs just in case she came early). She dropped down to 6 lbs 10 ounces and luckily after being in the nicu for almost a week was able to room with me and then came home on wed April 1st. Thank God she had no other issues besides her weight or she may have stayed in longer. Congratulations to all the new moms and prayers that all babies are healthy and home soon if not home already !!!
We welcomed our son today, Nixon Wade, at 36w1d. He was 5lbs 6oz and 18.5 inches. We had him by emergency c-section due to preeclampsia when my blood pressure sky rocketed this morning to 181/113. We're both doing great, and he's expected to go home with us in 4-5 days. I'm so glad this pregnancy is finally over, and are so blessed he is happy and healthy. We are so in love. :x
Wyatt Gregory was welcomed by c-section at 33.5 on April 14th after a surprise placental abruption the day before. He weighed 4lb 8oz and is 19 inches long. We weren't planning on seeing him another 4-6 weeks at least but he is doing amazing in the NICU getting a little extra help with all the changes but is progressing leaps and bounds already. My heart is so full!
Twins! Sawyer Jane and Wyatt James were welcomed into this world on 4/16. They were 34.1 weeks and 3 lb 11 oz and 4 lb 13 oz. They joined us via c section after 30 hours of labor proved unsuccessful. So far they are doing great in the NICU with minimal breathing/feeding support. We are in absolute love!
