Feeling down. where to look for resources?

Ladies, I am looking for some help. Recently, I have been feeling super emotional and down. I am a FTM and have a high risk pregnancy (that was not expected prior to conceiving). I am really struggling lately with all the doctors appointments and the stress it is putting on me. I know that there are some local postpartum depression groups but what about for now?? any ideas?

  • Talk to your OB office.  They should be aware of how you are feeling as well as have local resources, groups or possibly medication and or referrals if needed.

  • While I didn't openly say it to her, I think she is starting to notice that I am feeling this way. I was having weekly appointments between doctors visits and ultrasounds (and I'm only 24w5d) but she decided that I didn't need to come next week so I could have "a week off". I am VERY appreciative of that but of course, if I call her now, I feel like she will think that it was a mistake giving me a week off. I am just really struggling.

You should always be honest and open with your OB.  It's perfectly ok to be struggling but not telling her or hiding your true feelings is never the answer.

  • I didn't intentionally hide it.. I just thought I was dealing with it better than I actually am.

  • I am 25 weeks today, first time pregnant, and decided to come on here to see if is normal that I've become so distracted, detached and depressed. Have you tried these groups? Has it helped? I'm limited on time and energy. Don't know if I should look into support groups for myself.
