I was always dubious that quality olive oil tasted that much better than not as good. Then I tried making salad dressing with my mom's ancient generic olive oil. Guess I know what to bring for my mom's kitchen next Christmas.
Happy New Year everyone! My oldest brother and his fiance came over for dinner last night and we all played cards afterward. Then DH ran away to hide in the basement while fireworks started going off ( )but managed to come upstairs for the three minutes before midnight and one or two minutes afterward ( ). We also watched If I Stay which is something I've been wanting to read and haven't yet but it was awesome! And sad, very sad. But mostly very good.
LO is still cutting molars and has been running a fever the last couple days that make me think he must have caught the bug going around our house
We are still adjusting to the 4 hour time difference here in Maui. We went to the outdoor bar and watched the hula show last night. Addie was mesmerized. Went to bed at 8p and slept until 6a. I'll take it!
We have already contacted our realtor and are going to meet soon to talk. If she recommends putting it on the market immediately, we will; if she recommends some minor improvements and/or waiting for market factors, we will do that instead. But either way -- we are headed that direction.
DH is now completely on board for Baby #2, but neither of us is ready yet. We'll see if/when L gets off of TPN again and if/when I get a job and what kind of job it is - but maybe in the second half of 2015. August-October TTC would be perfect for an academic calendar.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
My husband decided Sam Adams is beneath him, so I guess I have to finish the winter variety pack on my own.
That is a hard burden to bear. Will you survive?
Somehow.
This is a man who wouldn't drink beer when we started dating and only drank crown & cokes. Now he's decided the only beer he likes is overly hopped microbrew double IPAs. Whatever, hipster.
There was a thing on slate yesterday on how hops are over hyped. It was by a Portland brew master. Send it to your dh. I raise my independent and craft non-hoppy beer to you.
Had the ILs and my BIL and SIL over to watch the cotton bowl. We have a good time and I had enough drinks to combat my mil's crazy views and statements. Time to wind down and relax before bed time. Praying Allison sleeps well or somewhat well.
Got pretty toasty last night and made it to midnight at the party, still made it in bed by 1, yawn.
We went and hung at my parents place and, and rode the horses for the first time in forever, and my horse had a big cut on his hoof, so I didn't actually get to ride, but worked instead :-bd
Going out for sushi tonight!
Hugs and happy new year ladies!
@maryannespier my DH is obsessed with super hoppy ipas too. Although he can drink a sammy if he has too. He loves the cigar city brewery ones brewed here in Tampa.

Ooo found said article and sent it to DH. He's a crazy hop fan. Chews hop candy. :-&
Has anybody's kid eaten crayons? I'm pretty sure Ben did today. Like, a sizeable chunk. Just curious if I should expect it in his poop.
There are five kids under five in my family and 8 adults, including one who is 39 weeks pregnant. It is like a shit show. I was with my niece and nephew and walked in to the living room, where the two one year olds were unsupervised and "coloring". There was definitely a lot of red shavings around Ben's mouth and a chunk taken out of the red crayon. Stay classy, kid.
We got the heat fixed and it didn't cost a million dollars, so yay! I went for a run and ran a 10k! I've never ran that far in my life! I'm pretty proud of myself.
I wasn't going to drink tonight, but y'all talking about beers makes me want to go pour one!

Go Spartans! We were watching the game too. My parents were sweating it at the end.
NoVA ladies, I'm drinking some good VA wine. We joined the wine club at La Grange last weekend. It's delish! Especially compared to other wineries out off 66.
I'm feeling sad and lonely tonight. My sister is on her way home and although my mom does a lot for me, my parents and everyone else stops the world for her....
And my baby turns 5 tomorrow and I register him for kindergarten Monday.

Just totally giggled. Your beer buying technique is superb.

Apparently she had a lot of adventure today.

Setting : S playing game of Life with older (conservatively-raised) cousins.
S gets to marriage square and puts another blue peg in the car.
Older cousin: No. You are a boy. You have to marry a girl.
S: with upset eyes....That's not true. Boys can marry boys.
Me: that's the right S. You can marry whoever you want to marry.
(Dodges glance from outraged SIL.)

Sorry to be a sap but I'm just feeling down.
Allison has low grade fever and is miserable after waking up from a nap/sleep. This has to be the worse tooth yet for us. Hoping this passes soon!
