Nurseries!!

Hey ladies, I did a search but didn't see a place for everyone to post their nursery pics, so if you'd like... Post them here!  I enjoy seeing the different themes and cute ideas everyone comes up with.  :)

Mine is a work in progress at this point, as I suspect most of ours are, but for my little girl, I am planning on a peacock color theme.  My MIL is sewing a bedskirt for me that is a peacock print, and I will then be pulling colors from there.  The room is already painted a mustard yellow color, and I will incorporate different shades of purple (lilac/plum), blue (Turquoise/darker blue), and green (olive/dark green).  I have a friend making me a beautiful flower chandelier for her, and that's about all I have so far.  Can't wait to see it all come together.  Not going all out this time though, just because money is tight.

Can't wait to see/hear about your ideas!  Not too much longer girls!

  • I still need to hang some stuff on the wall, but we painted and have all the furniture where it will stay for the next year or two. Not much of a theme, made sure my baby boy has a Hobbes of his own and theres a hint of star wars here and there.

Nursery question: this is probably a stupid question. I was going to put a ledge on the wall above the crib for his Hobbes to sit on and random knick knacks. It had not crossed my mind and then someone told me NOT to put a ledge above the crib as its a risk to the baby. Even if I only put soft and light weight items on the ledge is it still a bad idea? Or can I leave the ledge empty until baby is old enough to move his head freely incase a stuffed animal does fall into his crib? If its just stupid and I should forget the ledge, just tell me.

I wouldn't put it up. We put letters above DD's crib when she was around 11 months, and they've been OK (they're on strong, and far enough she won't pull them down). You don't want to risk it falling in the night, and things hitting baby, or the baby getting a hold of something and choking.

  • We have furniture, but we haven't painted yet. H is going to do that this weekend.

We are going with a space/science theme for our baby boys room.

  • We are doing a paisley and polka dot theme for Baby girl. We are moving to a bigger place probably in February so I haven't even started working on a nursery yet. I'll have to get it all done in a short amount of time after we move.
  • My husband has been getting the room ready to paint and just found out that my aunt and grandma will be coming to help tomorrow. Needless to say, he is thrilled. We are doing a nature theme with light coral walls and aqua furniture. My aunt is making the quilt and a bed set. I'm having a dream catcher mobile custom made for above the crib by a lady who is part of a local Indian tribe. We picked out a light fixture it is a pretty crystal chandaler looking thing. And I am spray painting the outlet covers gold and glittery. Pretty much praying it doesn't look like a hot mess when it is done.
That sounds really cool! Not like a typical "nature" theme, which is awesome. I love the color ideas and the mobile. It sounds like it'll be unique!

  • We haven't done much yet. We just finished painting :) finally. It's a blue green. We are going to steam clean the carpets. Our theme is owls and other Animals. I can't wait till we are done, the rest of the house is a mess with baby furniture in our room Nd the kitchen, and so I can wash the clothes and put them Away.
  • We're reusing the same stuff DD had; a basic, farm theme. Yellows, light blues, greens and tans/creams. LO will be in the corner of our room so no painting or "decorating".

Thanks. I think it will come together nicely. At least I hope it does. I didn't want it to be to boyish so I figured the coral and glitter couldn't hurt. :) I'll post pictures when it is done.

Does anyone here know of anyone that makes custom rag rugs?

You could try Etsy. I think Ikea has some funky, unique rugs too (that won't cost an arm and a leg).

  • @kadeelou‌ that's cute!!! I hope your H agrees to start shopping soon -- my belly was annoying when I was putting the dresser together! Or I guess he can do all the lifting & assembly... ;)
  • Thanks. I didn't even think to look on etsy!
  • We haven't done much except paint and get the crib. Our nursery still has a guest bed in it, which DH and I sometimes use b/c I require a lot of pillows.

The walls are painted a very pale grey. The crib is white and the glider we are getting is also grey. I plan on buying a nice used dresser and painting it a pale aqua or mint. Other than that, I really don't have a clue. It will be very minimalist and eclectic. It's a small room and I think less will be more. I need a quilt, a rug, a few quirky pieces of art and it will be done. I'll probably mostly get stuff from Etsy.

Baby will sleep in a RnP in our room for the first couple of months, so we probably won't even finish setting up the nursery until March or April.

  • DS will have to share a room with DD for a little bit until we finish adding on another bedroom. So right now his walls are purple, but his little area is decorated with whales and nautical type stuff.
  • We will be moving sometime in June or July and currently live in a one bedroom so we have no nursery. We have a bassinet in a box that we will eventually put together for the baby. When we do move I want to paint the nursery gray and have a gray and pink theme until then Pinterest is the closest I get to a nursery.
  • Since baby girl will be sharing our room for at least her 1st year (we're living in a 2bdrm), I've been looking at ideas on Pinterest on how we can create a space for her. Luckily our room is very big, so we'll see

  • We have a 1 bedroom and will probably move after a few months.  I am planning on rearranging our room so that our bed and closet is on the side near the door and the other half is the "nursery" type area or "baby nook".  I don't want to overdo baby decorations because it is still an adult room.  We hope to have a glider by the window and use our ikea hemnes long dresser for diaper changes and half baby clothes.  The bassinet will be on that side of our bed so that dh can get ready without disturbing us and so that sounds from the living room will be muffled.  I am planning on doing a simple hot air balloon theme.  I'm getting some print outs from etsy and making a hot air balloon mobile.
  • We were supposed to start on our nursery this week (since we're both off) but then I got the flu on Christmas day and now my husband has it too! So our nursery is nowhere near ready and I'm starting to freak out! We're going with a Minnie Mouse theme since we both love Disney World, but we haven't actually done a single thing yet. Panic attack in 3...2...1...!

@clobert, I love the hot air balloon idea. I've been dreaming about making an explorer themed nursery with this rug: https://www.amazon.com/Whimsy-Collection-LMOJULMJ20MTI4060-Area-6-Feet/dp/B007TKIOIO/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1420054827&sr=8-33&keywords=lil+mo+rug

  • My nursery is a hot mess. We still have our guest bed in there which my parents are supposed to be taking, the crib is in 2 pieces with no mattress and there is just a mess of toys all over the floor from my son wanting to play in his sister's room.

I do have everything bought and waiting to be organized though. The room is 2 shades of a bright blue and I am accenting it with hot pink, orange and lime green along with some birds and flowers. It's all really eclectic and looks really good on my pinterest board so hopefully it turns out great. FX.

This is all I've got so far. Crib, bedding and light fixture. Dresser is getting refinished and painted hasn't told me when he's coming

This is the same fixture we picked out! It's awesome to see how great it looks in a nursery.
  • We're doing light grey walls with white, pink and aqua accents (wall hangings, painting a dresser pink or blue, rug, etc.) with med. brown crib and changing table.

  • Well we are remodeling right now and are currently staying in what will eventually be the babies room. We have (had) a 3 bedroom but turned 2 smaller rooms into 1 and our room will be the babies so we can't start decorating until the remodel is done *sigh*. But the baby will be with us for a while so I'm not really in a rush to get the room done. @mamajack86‌ that is a really good idea about creating a space for the baby in your room i had not even thought about that at all. I'm Def gonna have to look into that. Right now we have the pnp for her bed and my glider which will be in there as well.
Anyway for the nursery we have a cherry color crib and we know that were doing bears and monkeys and really want a sunset orange/pink/yellowish color lol but we will see what transpires lol

I'm on the same boat. We have a 2 bedroom apartment. DD has her own, very spacious room. Our room is big too, but I don't really find the need to really decorate anything but LO's bedding.

We aren't done yet but we're doing a light gray and navy color scheme with airplanes. Not terribly unique but I love it. Some of these photos were taken at night so the lighting sucks. We just have to hang the name above the crib, the bookshelves and a wooden airplane propeller thing. Then we're done!

Love the stripes and custom pillow!
  • Ours is painted and that's it. DH wants to wait until after my shower to buy anything else, so that's where we stand right now. We are doing a Peter pan theme though, so I am looking on etsy to find pictures that I like to put on the wall, as well as some decals.
