  • @tj1979 My machine has a little drain pump that gets clogged with lint and stuff sometimes. Have you checked to see if there's something like that where gunk might be hiding?

Actually @unaveragejane‌, ding, ding, ding!! Bingo. First we noticed the smell. Then water on the floor. Finally we found the culprit. Gross!!

  • Mine is behind a little door on the front of my machine near the floor. Be ready with a bucket, shallow pan, and towels before you open it.

Speaking of pee on a rug. DD has a medium sized rug in her room. EVERY time I let her run around her room without a diaper (after bath, or while cleaning up poop covered changing table) she pees on it! It way too big to go in the washer. I always dry it as best I can then spray with BacOut. Is there a better way to clean it up?

  • G got his first haircut last night. V got his umpteenth haircut last night. It all turned into a giant scream fest. Fun. G has almost outgrown his NB simplex too. AND I put a red edge prefold on the other day, and it didn't look enormously bulky on him. Where did my tiny baby go?

We have a Bissell Little Green machine for spot cleaning our rugs and upholstery. And I send our rugs out every few years for a professional cleaning. Really this should be a once a year thing, but it hasn't happened in a while.
  • First off, I found tiny tubes of Waxelene at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Secondly, my grocery budget has gone way up since going clean. I know part of it is due to not always having certain things on hand, like flours and what not. However, I'll be so happy once we have this down and our food budget goes back down to 300$ a week.

A lot of the increased grocery spending comes, as you said, from just a change in behaviors, but there are healthy alternatives that are cheaper than their counterparts. Beans for protein/iron instead of meat are a big one. Or sardines for protein. Brown rice, instead of bread too. I can't remember what you're focusing on for your clean eating, but packaged "clean" foods generally are the crazy expensive part of the diet.
Nothing I'm getting is prepackaged. It's mostly finding "Clean" versions of what we already get. Like, bread was easy. I love me some Dave's Killer Bread. However, it's buying whole wheat pastry flour instead of regular flour. I switched the house to using organic evaporated cane juice, coconut sugar, and powdered stevia (the good kind, not Truvia). Things like that. I am buying more meats, fish, and produce than ever before. However, I'm doing more frozen organic than fresh organic. Trader Joe's has good prices for both. It's all changing habits for me and the kids, but it's also SO not being on board for a switch for himself. So, I end up buying all this healthy food for myself and the kids, then spending another 100$ on his meals.

  • I feel ya Maple. Like today I went to Central Market and they had Bob's Red Mill on sale. So I stocked up on a few things I'll be using like flour, oat flour, and coconut flour. I opt to buy frozen fish and shrimp instead of fresh. Unless I'm going to Pike's Place local frozen is still pretty good. I'm just getting it all down. I'm lucky that there are so many places that sell these things too. I mean we have Central Market, a Trader Joe's, local co-ops, 4 local farmer's markets, and a local co-op. Once I know where to buy things and when to stock up on things then I'll be golden.

  • So I tried a back carry with G yesterday. I promptly gave up after he spit up all over my back, not once, but twice.
  • My dad told us he is going to tear down his house and build/buy a new one with his girlfriend of 6 months, who he started dating 2 months after my step mom passed away. We told him we don't like her, were hoping she wouldn't stick around, and don't want her to be M's grandma. Blah.

  • We totally went overboard on the Christmas tree this year because it's the first time we've ever lived in a place with high ceilings. Oh my word. It looks like we stole it from a shopping mall.

    Pic! Pic!
I'll post one when it's finished. We're letting the branches drop overnight before we decorate. Hopefully the whole thing doesn't drop ;)

  • My house has 7'4 ceilings. My tree is 7'. I need a new topper.

Do you have a star with a wire thing that attaches to the tree? I've bent them so the wire comes from the top at the back and the star hangs on front of it. Gives you more room.

I grew up with 10 ft trees as the norm. We stabilized them by hanging them from the ceiling.

I'm on mobile so just picture a Jaws meme and me saying "We're gonna need a bigger ladder."

    1. I love you for Jaws meme's
    2. I'm picturing your tree in national lampoon style. did you cut it down yourselves?

Lol. We just watched that movie last night. We actually went to a cut your own place but the tall ones are all precut. Probably because they don't want dummies letting trees fall on them. We got a 12 ft tree, which seemed reasonable at the time, but in reality is effing huge and probably over 100 lbs. It started really leaning in the stand while DH was on a conference call tonight and he had to put everyone on hold while we rearranged it using angry whispers. OMG.
  • I just ordered DD a pair of Project Pamona jeans for Christmas! I'm so excited I haven't like the way real denim fits over cloth. They look great, I can't wait!

  • Live Christmas trees are the best. We planted one in the back yard this weekend so it can grow with the girls. I'm excited to decorate it!

Stringy, you guys are troopers! Poor M! I hope whatever ick she's fighting goes away soon and she starts feeling better!

M gets very confused and I think freaks out cuz she can't see her feet.
lol. He just stands there, frozen, staring at it. Then screams when it gets on his hands. Yesterday, I laughed at him, which scared him too, then he flipped out and started screaming. Which then made G start crying too.

  • Can I add to this today? Just because I have no where else to share this and it's absolutely ridiculous.

My H seriously pissed the bed last night...WTF?! And he wasn't even drunk!

To make matters worse, he jumped up and woke DD and I up, then got up and went down to the guest room. Meanwhile I roll over to his side to find a puddle! Who does this? Seriously?!
