My confession: I just got all excited there was a WK and "mean girls" joined the club all in one day. Someone forgot to bring the cake and rainbows, but this has made my weekend.
So, just thought of one: I don't care how "smart" or "ahead" you think your baby is, until they are talking, they have the equivalent of a dog or a cat's brain. They can understand small commands or gestures, but not much more. Yes, they are amazing because they are experiencing everything for the first time, and learning things so quickly in the first year, but, just because you make your baby listen to classical music or watch mad men, doesn't mean that they are a genius. Same thing for people who's babies reach physical milestones early as well. Sorry about the rant, just kind of sick of all these posts I'm seeing on other boards about in depth activities (Meant for much older babies/toddlers), for their less than 3 month old babies lol.
WTF? Babies, like every other human on the planet, can learn at different speeds and capacities. Some babies need more stimulation than others because they learn at a faster rate. I'm obviously not talking televised stimulation, but things that actually follow current research for brain development. So many people think of babies as sleepy little logs who are incapable of developing until some magical age, but that's not the case. They recognize songs they started hearing in the womb. They've been learning since before they were born.
Milestones and continuums exist for a reason - if your LO reaches one, you can start working on the next one, not just wait "until they are talking". This post makes me ragey, no wonder we have so many children who don't know how to read until they are taught at school. They can learn so much from you, if you just take the time.
A standing ovation to you for this, @wingardiumleviosa! So much research has shown that talking, singing and reading to your baby straight from birth builds brain synapses and language awareness. The best thing you can do to help build language development is to narrate everything you do to your LO and talk to them as if they understand what you're saying. This notion that babies are nothing but mindless objects drives me bonkers. They are complex human beings that are truly capable of learning from birth. https://www.ccfc.ca.gov/parents/learning-center.aspx?id=11 In the interest of full disclosure, I have degrees in ECE and Child/Human Development. I love Magda Gerber's philosophy on infants and children and this is a good summary of her beliefs: https://seattlelearningcenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Caring-for-Infants-with-Respect.doc
July 14. Apparently a young girl had been a very active member and stole pregnancy pics and baby pics from a girl in Sweden. The girl eventually found out and knows the catfish now. The catfish played it for a year. The other regs called her out. And one of the regs talked to her and she admitted everything. She even photoshopped belly pics
I'm trying not to get pissed off, because this was FFFC, and it *kinda* felt like you flamed @Ahlome08 and then flamed and bitched me out for explaining what I thought her position was.
1) We have been gone wayyyyy too long if you think FFFC is truly flame free.
2) Red pens all around!
3) @hurricanenellie I, too, was busy doing all of those things during my pregnancy, yet I found a way to contribute to this awesome community of ladies. Daily? Probably not. But enough to form a bond. So please don't think us regs are a bunch of women who have nothing better to do than sit on our asses and wait for some bullshit to be posted so that we can pounce. However, if in our perusing of the board we happen upon it, I can assure you the response will not be passive aggressive; nor will it matter if the poster is or is not a "newb".
4) @lmk1566 I play nice, and when I don't it's not because a new poster showed up and posted anything. It's because someone (anyone) has posted something ridiculous.

The reasoning behind my comment is if someone posts something completely absurd or posts something that has been previously discussed (even numerous times) I am not sure why people feel the need to pounce, justify with a response, or even take the time to point out that it was previously discussed. Why can't you just sit back and silently judge like normal adults?

Because none of us are silent? We tired of seeing the shit posted over and over. Completely absurd posts need to be told they are absurd.

Because there is a search function on this board for a reason.

Why aren't you quietly judging us then?

Some of us are to busy working, sleeping, or recovering from the biggest life altering experience to reply and read the absurd or previously discussed post. You are right S14 is NOT normal adults, because we're awesome and now grammatically correct.
Wait. Guise. Don't run her off, she's the only WK I've seen in weeks
Oh no there is another one around from the days of the very beginning of the S14 board. She just became active again, but I don't think she has posted any this week.

@CplusJ=S Since you mentioned your background in ECE, what do you think of the HighScope curriculum? It's what our daycare follows and, while what I've read about it seems positive, it doesn't seem very popular.
@Tromboner yeah I didn't recognize the name so I looked and she was last active in the very beginning of February talking about how this board has the most immature shit she had ever saw, and on and on. Then magically appeared last week asking for advice, then posting on multiple threads. As the baby in the Allstate commercial says, "Freaky!"

I actually did have my own FFFC before I got distracted!! Lol
I've started heavily restricting how much I eat.... DH sometimes eats more in a meal than I allow in a day.
Sorry to jump back a few pages... Is everyone going to skip over this confession? This makes me worry for you. Even if you need to lose weight, "heavily restricting" food is not healthy. Maybe you should consider talking to a nutritionist about getting healthy.

Yeah, I agree with @beccalou12 please make sure you are taking care of yourself @str13 !! I know most moms probably feel insecure about their weight, we just had babies, but you need to make sure you're eating healthy, especially so you're able to take care of your LOs! I know you mentioned PPD, so maybe you could talk to someone about this?

I totally missed this.
@str13 I second seeing a nutritionist. Are you getting enough calories? Even FFing, you have basic caloric/nutrtional needs....YOU just supported a baby for 9 months and your body needs to recover. This might also be a factor in your dry skin and brittle nails.
ETA: I didn't know about the PPD. I'm sorry you are dealing with that and encourage you seeking help.

@carmalarm i did it after the catfish, it was my full name.
