I should probably avoid FB today because some people are too dramatic post-election. There are some I understand, but to say your kids are never going to get a job because your kids were taught under common core (because to governor was re-elected)? I'd say that's a stretch and a tad bit over dramatic.
I should probably get up. LO has been awake and playing in his crib for 20 mins.
shellbell3845 isn't the premise of common core that the playing field is leveled?
LaurLaurLaur You are my DIY idol. Caulking is easy- just make sure you get the caulk for bathrooms.
I am working from home today and DH is off. Normally this is a recipe for disaster so T&Ps that we do not kill each other. I just have to make it until 4:00 and I'm getting a pumpkin facial. woo hoo!
@TessyMessy you're exactly right. I'm not the world's biggest common core fan, and the roll out of it was screwed up from the get go. The biggest thing that I think people don't get is that common core is standards, not curriculum, not methodology. (Right, other teachers? I think I'm right...)
@LaurLaurLaur my h has a battery operated caulk gun. It looks fun to use, but, alas, I am not allowed.
shellbell3845 Ok. My understanding is Common Core is a standard or benchmark of what children should be learning at each grade level. How the information is presented and/or taught is up to the school/educators. My big's teacher doesn't agree with all of the common core standards but she has tailored her curriculum to follow the new standards.
Also-- I wish the people on my FB were "informed" enough to complain about common core. Damn, most of them are reposting the same idiotic garbage.
I could have sworn I had an eye dr appt today, but my online chart says I have no appointments scheduled. I guess I better call because if I have no appointments, that's a problem. I gotta get out of glasses hell.
The toilet paper holder in our bathroom lifts up to put on a new roll. (It's not one of those spring loaded ones.) LO loves to open and close it. I'm kind of regretting getting it now. I don't want LO to pinch his fingers, and it's the end of the world if I move him.
@bluedot818 When you did the hand print ornaments, did they dry all the way when ypu baked them? Mine didn't, so I am trying to figure out if I leave them out for a few days they might dry out or if I need to start all over.
I too had the convo of Christmas gifts with MIL. I approached it by saying "Do you think it would be helpful to give people a list for C so that we can make sure we have space for everything? I still have toys and clothes NWT that we have never worn/opened. How would you suggest I let people know so we don't get inundated?" She happily gave me suggestions...and then two days later showed up with two new outfits. I thought I was doing well. HA!
"Elsie Irene was born sleeping at 35w 6d on December 8, 2012. Mommy and Daddy miss you sweet girl."
My Diono is a bit wiggly too. We have ours in the middle, with the angle adjuster. I feel pretty confident we have it in there correctly. Maybe post a video on IG so we can see how much it moves?
I am super jealous of your purple. We got the grey and black *yawn*
Once I'm done watching Desperate Housewives, I'm totally watching Grey's Anatomy. I need to know what you all are talking about.
I'm with you! I need to catch up on Greys because at least a season behind.
For an only child, Meredith Grey sure has a lot of half siblings popping up out if the woodwork ... There has got to be another way of introducing new characters
This x10000000
I was surprised they did it again, tbh. Btdt. Let's move on.
Mr. Pup doesn't have to be at work until 1 today! So to celebrate, we're going to buy inserts for his shoes because his feet hurt. We know how to live.
I also need to make my way downtown to get my TB test arm checked. (I had to get that plus a drug screen for my new job.) It could be an interesting drive because the CMAs are today, and Nashville.
I am SO jealous that you're in Nashville @Codypup. Do you like country music? Do you have boots yet? Have you watched the show yet? Did you post any Carl pics/stories that I missed? Could I have any more questions?

These are all questions I've been thinking too. Boot Country always has buy 1 get 2 free boot deals. That's where I got mine!
I do like country music! I do own boots that my H says "are dangerously close to being cowboy boots." (They're just black, kinda pointy toed flat boots.) I have not watched the show yet because it's on past my bedtime. And I have NOT met Carl yet! I keep waiting for him to show up, but he's probably busy on his commune. I'll get Mr. Pup to give him a call soon!
It's ok to walk away for a couple minutes, @Bookshelves. LO is safe, even if she's not the happiest of campers right now. It's ok to take care of you and give yourself time to regroup. Do your errands have a specific time frame? Can you play a little, try for another nap, and go later? How about a walk?
@Bookshelves - if you think she'll nap in the car, put her in the car, swing through the Starbucks drive through and as soon as she's asleep enjoy your drink and read a book! Your kiddo gets a much needed nap and you get some reading time. I've done this more than once in a pinch. DH has come home to find us in the car, LO napping and me sipping and reading.
The problem is we have kind of been doing this all week. I'm afraid she's becoming dependent on it. I could really go for a hazelnut latte right now though.
Ahhhh, that is a different monster, then.
Mmmmm, hazelnut latte. I may use "LO needed a nap" as an excuse to go get one later today ....
Remember when us FTM were still just pregnant, and we had no idea?? I'm laughing at myself and all of my naïve ideas about parenting.
I kinda thought you just laid your baby down, he fell asleep for three hours, and I'd be a domestic diva.
@bookshelves I'm so sorry you are struggling with LOs naps! I know EXACTLY how you feel. Lo was like this for the first 6 months of her life. I would spend 45-60 minutes trying to bounce her to sleep on the yoga ball, only to have her wake up the second I tried to put her down...rinse and repeat.
I eventually ended up sleep training...I know it's not for everyone but it has made a world of difference for me. Lo will now just go in her crib away and fall asleep on her own...I am so much happier now. It's amazing how much it changes your outlook when you aren't so frustrated!
I hope lo takes a nice long nap on you and you enjoy reading!

What are you talking about? This is exactly what I pictured! Says she who is typing, with one boob out, while LO is playing with a hair brush, and occasionally taking a sip of milk, while sitting in an RV in a place called Lucky Logger Trailer Park. LO is not wearing pants (something I swore I'd never do) and I just told BF to go outside, because no pooping in trailer.
@Bookshelves I'm sorry you're having a terrible horrible no good very bad day. Some days are like that. When desperate I lay down with LO, turn on Gilmore Girls, and let him nurse until he falls asleep. Then I sleep. #sleepwhenyoucan
So, which Ergo did you keep, and which are you getting rid of?
@Bookshelves Yes, my LO usually takes one big nap in the middle of the day. When I am home with LO we plan our day around nap time as much as possible. We do some things in the morning, come home to play, have lunch and nap. When he wakes up he is ready for round 2.
FWIW our doctor prefers he maintain two naps per day but it just was not working out for anyone. Sometimes he will take a small cat nap mid morning or in the evening but its never more than 30 minutes.
I just made a test version of the thing I'm making for the gift exchange and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED that it turned out well. I need to hit up JoAnn's again, though, because I'm missing one rather important component.
Woh. 4 pages at 8am! Happy birthday @Mamosey !!! @MissDemeanor I'd love a link to the blog too :x @dreamingbabies glad you got to talk with dh and that you got a shower in peace @carissalynp fx it's not the flu. And I hope you feel better soon
LO is being super clingy today. Actually the past few days. I really hope these teeth Pop through. Or is he sensing that I'm going back to work next week and I won't be with him all the time anymore!? Ugh. I don't want to go back to work! Especially knowing I'm going to be missing thanksgiving, I always miss thanksgiving. Ugh. I've worked thanksgiving every year for the past 7 years. I'm just over it. I want to eat, get fat, and pass out in a food coma instead of having to settle for stuffing my face super early and having to go to work after, or getting home so late that all the food is put away and I have to eat a microwaved dinner /rant

@Sakura0019 a $145 step stool?!?
@Sakura0019, please post pic of this step stool! $146! Is it really bedazzled or are those real gems on it!
Today is @Mamosey's birthday!! Rudy was so excited he woke up at 5:50!!!

@Mamosey Happy Birthday <:-P
Sakura0019 I have never had a pumpkin facial.. I assume its like a regular facial but with pumpkin?? haha. I will provide an update this afternoon.
Happy birthday @Mamosey!
And he just pinched his fingers. Good. Moty
I was surprised they did it again, tbh. Btdt. Let's move on.
JK. Baby Elf is adorable, though I happen to think Baby $hell is pretty cute. (And all the babies. Don't make me choose.)
Now, if you'll excuse me, my baby is about to lick the toilet.
ETA I mean play with the toilet brush. I think it's time for us to run errands.
I eventually ended up sleep training...I know it's not for everyone but it has made a world of difference for me. Lo will now just go in her crib away and fall asleep on her own...I am so much happier now. It's amazing how much it changes your outlook when you aren't so frustrated!

Happy Birthday, @Mamosey !
@Sakura0019 That step stool looks like it'd be uncomfortable to stand on. For $145, it better feel like standing on freaking clouds.
@MissDemeanor I need your blog address.
